The cut flattered my face, the highlighting was nuanced in a way that blurred the line between natural and professionally curated. Jen is AWESOME and I've seen her at least 3 times in the last year. I had very dark/virgin hair and wanted some color for my wedding so that my curls/waves would show. I came to Jen 5 months prior to my wedding to start getting some color in, anticipating that I would go perhaps lighter for the 2nd touch up closer to my wedding date. She was very attentive and gave me exactly what I wanted. Natural balayage colors that were seamlessly blended. For the 2nd touch up closer to my wedding, we decided to go lighter, and she also suggested a trim for my split ends and I'm really glad I went with her recommendation (I was afraid to go shorter!) Took my 5yr old boy here for a haircut and paid $90 for a 12min clipper cut. Didn't even wash my boy's hair afterwards. On second thought, she did offer after she styled his hair.. kinda late there. Calvin is so nice! I came in after a bad experience a couple years ago and he was so nice and eased all my anxieties about coming back into a salon. I wanted to trim off the gross ends of my hair and get help growing out and styling my bangs and he completely transformed my hair. It feels so soft and healthy on the ends and I'm so excited for it to grow out into a 70s fringey beachy vibe! Calvin cut about three inches off all around and then added a bit of fade in the front so eventually my bangs can meet the ends of my hair, and then he styled it into beachy curls Everyone in the salon was also wearing masks and an employee took my temperature a few times before coming in to ensure maximum safety. I have been meaning to write a review of Salon Revel for literally years. I have had the good fortune of great service from many of the stylists at Salon Revel, but Julia is my person. She is an amazing colorist and takes great pride in delivering both an amazing haircut and color/highlights. She manages to find that perfect balance of being a great listener (working to understand what you want) AND also making helpful suggestions for what might be a good style, color or "fix" for your hair and lifestyle. She is not pushy on products but will certainly recommend them if asked. Every time I see her, it's an enjoyable and relaxing experience knowing that I'm in good hands and I walk out looking and feeling like a million dollars. As a final practical note, Julia also told me about the ParkSmarter app, which allows you to add time to your meter remotely. Just take note of your Burlingame parking space number (located on the meter) before you go in and voila! if you've downloaded the app, you can add money from the comfort of your chair. Don't hesitate to book an appointment with Calvin! I needed to get my bangs trimmed. I had attempted to do it myself I knew Salon Revel was open performing outdoor services. I booked an appointment easily online from their website with Calvin. He was professional and friendly. He listened to me describe what type of bangs I wanted. Calvin did a wonderful job cutting them and fixing the DIY job I had done. He connected my bangs well to the rest of my haircut. I am very happy with the result! I would go back to Calvin for a full haircut. He also gave me some good styling tips to try with my new and improved bangs. COVID NOTE: I felt safe when I got there. The stylists and clients were wearing masks. The stations were more than 6 feet apart. The stylists take your temperature and offer hand sanitizer to clients upon arrival. So I needed a haircut in a pinch... I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason! I decided to call the salon to see if there were any openings today, I know... last minute. But it just so happens that Catalina answers the phone and had a last-minute no-call no-show (which worked out in my favor!) She gave me super cute cut and a much needed touch up. Plus I came in with a disconnected piece of my Bob that was bleached blonde and didn't have any toner in it since it's been awhile since my last haircut. This place is incredibly overpriced and Jen is absolutely not worth it. The first time I went I was happy with my highlights, however the second time I went for a touch up and she double booked me, so I ended up waiting over an hour for her to dye someone else's hair and I was somehow charged over $100 more than the last time, even though it was a touch-up that took way less time and product. In addition, she was clearly rushing the second time (because she had probably also double-booked someone else) and I went in with blonde hair and left with brassy, uneven highlights, and an earful about how every product I use is terrible and need to buy their $80 (each!) shampoo and conditioner.
