BBQ is dry, and bland. Sauces on table are good and friends all enjoy the beers. Been living across the street at hotel for three weeks and have not once smelled the smoker though I face seen smoke a few times. Growing up in TX I know that smoking/cooking meat ALWAYS creates a smell.. it's the best advertisement there is. Our server was definitely not a 'people' person, very unfriendly and no personality at all. We asked her for a recommendation on a beer and she said "I don't know, I don't drink beer"... No offer to find out or anything. Never got a refill on a soda, she never came back to our table once we got our food except to give us our bill. Food was ok, but nothing to rave about. Let me start off with explaining my rating. My rating is weighted mostly towards the food, and I'm being generous with the two stars for it. BBQ- 2 stars Beer- 4 stars. It's a brewery FFS. Service -5 stars. We happened to be staying in Tonopah twice in two weeks and the dining options were pretty limited so we ate here twice. Beer selection is very limited but the IPA and the Hefeweizen were both very nice. The service on both visits was very good, pretty attentive and welcoming. Alas, the food was disappointing. On the first visit I had hoped for some "burnt ends" but they were out- which may have been a good thing , since the brisket ( which burst ends are cut off of) was very dry , not "succulent" as promised. It had a great smoke ring and good flavor, but dried out. It went to good use later when I added it to some soup. My sides were potato salad which might have been good if the potatoes were cooked all the way. Yes, hard chunks. ick. I had the beans as my other side- they seemed like canned beans that had been pimped a little.My dinner companion ordered the Pulled Pork Sliders which were two generous piles of pulled pork with coleslaw on cold , small buns. An addition of the ketchupy BBQ sauces on the table did little to elevate these boring little sandwiches. We also got a green salad which was mostly iceberg with chopped up tomatoes and shredded cheese and carrots. A fairly sad salad. On the second visit , I went with the ribs. They were quite moist and tender but had a really strange , acrid, burnt plastic taste. There was no visible smoke ring.I'm wondering if it was liquid smoke that made that super nasty flavor. My side this time were a very dry mac n cheese and the slaw , which was ok- nothing horrible.Both times , My BBQ entrees came with a cold corn muffin- the first time served with a pat of butter, the second no butter and the muffin was caved in on top , like it never rose while baking. My pal had the wings, that though were called smoked, seemed just baked to me. The wings came with good shoestring potatoes. We also ordered that same listless green salad coz we felt the need for some veg component to this road trip meal. All in all it was pretty crap meals both times. Hard for me to understand how this place averages 4 stars, but I guess there isn't a lot of options in this area. It's a cool town, and this place has promise- the old antique oak bar is a beaut! One star to reward for decent atmosphere. Another for opening a microbrewery in Tonopah. A third for an acceptable level of friendliness. Unfortunately, the BBQ (which sums up their food offerings) was disappointing. Burned ends had no crispiness or carmelization, and none of their four homemade sauces really hit the spot. BBQ beef sandwich had little flavor, and the onions were cooked but with zero of the smokiness or brown spots that make onions on the grill something to look forward to. My brew was equally disappointing. I went for the Molton (sic) Silver IPA, which was supposed to be brewed with ghost peppers. It was a bland, flat, sub-par IPA with a weak chile pepper "tea" that imparted just a small hint of spiciness and no flavor. My husband's .999 was the only good experience--it was an above average double IPA with good flavor and hoppiness. read more

I have been a regular patron of the Tonopah Brewery since it opened in Tonopah. It has a great atmosphere and vibe; the servers are always amazing and very attentive and personal. My husband and I generally go to the Brewery for dinner an average of twice a month, as well as a friend of mine for an afternoon beer and bite to eat almost every week. When we have out of town visitors, many times we take them to the Brewery for dinner. We have noticed over the past 6 to 8 months the quality of the food has diminished and is just not what it was. Last Friday night, 7/28/22 we had taken some out-of-town family and friends to dinner at the Brewery, the servers were great as always, the beer was excellent, but the food not so great! We stopped both ways, it broke up the drive and we stopped to eat and have a beer and watched a little football. the food is really good. It's Tonopah, so you're not exactly spoiled for choice when it comes to food here. I've been here a few times and the food was okay, but I've had much better BBQ. This time I tried the half chicken, as I was told it was one of the better items on the menu, and I was highly disappointed. My chicken must have been sitting in the smoker for days, because it was the driest chicken I've ever had in my entire life. Not even the dark meat was moist - I didn't even know it was possible to have dry dark meat! This visit was definitely one star, as our waitress didn't even bother getting us our first refill until we were halfway through our meal, and I was dying of thirst from the drier than the desert chicken I was served. The BBQ sauces they offer could also stand to be improved. The Sweetheart sauce is way too thick and pasty for a BBQ sauce, and is at times almost gritty. Overall I'm just not a fan. Giving 2 stars because my previous visits were 2 or 3 stars and I'm hoping this was just a fluke. read more

Good place, but the last two visits left me a bit unhappy. I've been to Tonopah Brewing Co. maybe 5 or 6 times now, on my various trips from Reno to Las Vegas and back again. Up until this most recent trip, it has been a highlight on an otherwise long drawn our monotonous drive. Previous visits provided great beer, great food, and great service. This last trip left me a bit disappointed on both my southern and northern bound trips. I'll state that the food and beer quality every time has been great, the BBQ really is delicious, and the beers are great. However on my trip headed south (on a Thursday night around 8:30pm) service was severely lacking. the amount of time it took to be brought a menu, to be brought my order (I watched a few people who arrived/ordered after me get served first), and then to have my check brought was pretty unsatisfactory. I was sitting/waiting for extended periods of time without anybody helping me as IU sat at the bar. It wasnt too busy either. Also my "burnt ends" sandwhich, which I have ordered before, was pretty paltry when it came to the meat. The bun looked enormous with only a small scoop of meat. either way, the food was tasty and the beer was good. I just wrote it off. The second item that kind of ticked me off was heading back north, I popped in to grab a growler of the ghost pepper IPA which is great! I provided my own growler which was opaque, which in hindsight may have contributed to this problem. I was served promptly, got my growler "filled", paid my $17.something dollars and went on my way. I got home, some 230 miles north, and picked up my growler and immediately noticed an issue. It was sloshing around. I could tell at that point that it was way less than full. I wish I had noticed at the brewery, but as i was in a hurry I did not. I figured since it wasnt full it wasnt going to last. I opened it and it was MAYBE 2/3rds full. Due to this fact, it was pretty darn flat as well. there was about 2.75 pint glasses worth of beer in the growler. Again, the beer tasted fine, but it was flat and I got way less than I paid for. I'd be glad to give them another try but 2 negatives in a row is a bit bothersome. As i mentioned the food and beer always taste great, but there seems to be some inconsistency, and perhaps a training reminder is necessary for how to fill a growler. Anyway, I may or may not be back. It's a little frustrating. read more

Maybe we came here on an off day, but both of us were pretty bummed out by our meals. I'm a vegetarian (I know! I'm at a BBQ joint, what am I expecting), but my BF is GF due to Celiacs, and so I thought BBQ would be a good treat for him. The menu was pretty much devoid of vegetarian options, but I thought that they might make me a grilled cheese. When I asked, the waitress replied that they only make what's on the menu, so no, they couldn't make a grilled cheese. (They also don't have a kids menu). So I ate the only vegetarian things on the menu - an iceberg salad, a chunk of soggy corn on the cob, and a corn muffin. Super sad. My BF couldn't even cut into the brisket with a knife, let alone chew it, so he exchanged it for the pork, which he said had a kind of funky flavor. The waitress then informed us that she isn't allowed to change/delete items in the computer, so we just paid for the brisket. We both try to be very flexible about what we eat, because our diets make us a little difficult, but this just wasn't very tasty baseline and they seemed completely inflexible (although nice about it, which is why there are two stars instead of one). As a mid 20s male, I love beer. And the 49-51 American Pale Ale is one of the best that has crossed my lips! Really surprised me for Tonopah, NV and was better than a whole heck of a lot of breweries I've been to recently. Nothing pretentious. Not hipster, just really good bbq and better than decent beer. To preface this I am a big BBQ fan/eater/advanced home smoker and I am very picky. Tonopah Brewing Company has very good BBQ. I had the combination plate(pulled pork, spare ribs, brisket and turkey) with baked beans cole slaw and corn muffin. I was impressed by the balance of the pork and beef with smoke, and spice. The perfect mix of sublime rub, good smoke bark and flavor and rich pork and beef flavor was really amazing. (Pulled pork, ribs and brisket) The sauces are incredible. I am envious of the sauce. They have nailed Southwest BBQ sauce. This sauce is now my gold standard. The BBQ was so good that I didn't want to use the sauce, but you could just drink the sauce, or slather it all over your body and lick it off. It's awesome. The baked beans are good. The turkey was OK, the muffin and the cole slaw were standard. I also tried a couple of beers each was very good. The Hefonnay was unique. This place is only 400 miles out of the way. Hoping the Cline family takes what they've learned about BBQ and brewing and shares it with Las Vegas or Reno. read more

There are not a lot of choices for food in Tonopah and most of the reviews for around here didn't sound too great. We happened to be staying across the street at the Best Western when we heard a live band coming from the Tap Room! What a great environment. It was fun, service was prompt and friendly and the food great. My husband had the pulled pork sandwich. It was amazing! I had the brisket sandwich. It was good but I wish I had gotten the pork. We ended up getting a flight of beer. It was fun and delicious. Be aware of the ghost pepper beer! My husband loved it but I didn't. If you like spicy hot then it's the beer for you. Fun place but the owners need to hire more help...the only lady working was pleasant enough but it was a long time in between her coming back. the Mine Shaft oatmeal stout was really good but I wasn't ever asked if I wanted a second one. Possibly because I heard her tell another customer that the keg blew and being the only one waiting tables (the place was packed) she didn't have time to replace it. I had high hopes for this place across the street from my hotel but I was really disappointed.... I ordered the side salad, which is far too huge. Usually big, cheap portions are great but there is limits as this was more dinner salad size so I couldn't even get half way through it if I also expected to eat my meal. I got the brisket plate with corn, beans and an additional side of potato salad. The beans were good but I am pretty sure they are a variety of Bush's. The potato salad was probably also store bought and not very good. The corn was corn. The beef was okay, sliced a little too thick but good with the BBQ sauce.
