Wow all bad. Came for the dessert and they were out. Also out of fish sandwich for kids. Should have been the sign to leave. The kids burgers were burnt. No napkins except for the soggy one below your cup. Pickles were weird tasting. Thought I would try something other than burger so ordered cordon blue. Big mistake. The cook can apparently burn everything. The chicken was pathetic, tough and burnt. Also they forgot the bbq sauce. The ham slice was thin. Waitress wasn't around much and even said burnt when she asked how things are. Didn't even acknowledge I said it. What a shame just bad slow service and food. read more

It was my first time eating at this delightful place. I ordered crawfish egg rolls. It was so yummy. I ordered the PHILLI BURGER- famous chuck burger topped with sautéed bell peppers, onions and Provolone cheese. Taste the brotherly love here! I enjoyed my burger. The ambiance was nice. Kinda quiet. How long should it take to get a hamburger with only one waitress for the entire restaurant? Mine took 52 minutes. And barely hot at that. FF's definitely came out of a warmer, not the grease. We have eaten here since our kids were little and my youngest is 27. We have tried the one on Kaliste Saloom but IT IS NOT THE SAME! It has been about 10 years and our daughter was craving a homemade burger so we surprised her and her husband with this dinner place. It was a Friday night after Xmas tree shopping so it was somewhat slow, which is ok with us.Our service was impeccable and the SENIOR BURGER...... let's just say it was wonderful. They have a November special buy any sandwich and get the next half off. The flavor of the patty was down home and cooked to perfection, just enough pink. With prices rising we will definitely make this our go to place again. read more

This place is a lame duck. The entire benefit of grinding your beef in house is that you can cook it to any temp the customer so desires. I ordered medium - came burnt to a crisp. They have no fresh condiments, everything is served in little packets of ketchup or cheap mustard. The cheese is not even sliced, it's shredded. The burger is a money maker for the restaurant b/c of the low quality ingredients. If this was a $5-7 burger I might go back. Ground Pati is simply the best place to get a hamburger in Lafayette. I've been in Lafayette for five years now and have taken my family there more times than we can count. The food itself is quite good with a menu that includes non-burger items. The inside of the restaurant has a very unique, almost tavern-like, feel to it that I simply love. The wait staff is normally young college kids, but they are always friendly, polite, and see to your immediate needs. Only two minor gripes. Sometimes the service is too fast. I've never had the feeling that they are trying to rush us out, but sometimes we've gotten our food too quickly. Granted, everything was fresh and did not seem that it had been sitting, but I like to take a little bit of time in a restaurant. The other minor gripe I have is that spacing is a bit tight - I think they would do well to eliminate a few tables and chairs in the restaurant. Overall, I love the Ground Pati and hope it is around for a very long time! read more

There is nothing like the original. Ground Pati is basically a tradition of mine. Its great before or after any UL sporting event. I've gotten the same thing for 20 something years now, ground pati jr with cheese, and cheese on the fries. YUM! Its a great place when you need something simple and quick. read more

As far as atmosphere goes I see that a lot of people don't like it but I think it has charm. We have been going here since I was a little kid and I love it and wouldn't change a thing about it. I came here with my boyfriend and his mom, and we started with the cheese fries with jalapeños. I ordered the ground pati burger with cheese cooked medium, and my came out just right! Perfectly medium and yummy. On the other hand, our appetizer hadn't come out yet even after our burger had come out. We asked our waitress about it, and she went to go check on it. A few minutes later, she said that it was coming right out. Then after a few minutes, she came out with the most pitiful excuse of cheese fries. She said that the people in the back started making mozzarella sticks but had to tell them they were cheese fries. What we got was a place of fries with unmelted cheese and no jalapeños. I should've taken a picture of it because it was very disappointing. I don't blame the waitress, she did her best. And they were nice enough to let us send it back and take it off our check. The food is really good and i would go here really often however the bathrooms really stink. Many of my family members complain and a toddler in my family refuses to use it. The bathroom smells like a sewage pipe has burst. We have addressed it with the manager and they have done about it. I would recommend this place unless you're going to use the bathroom. The food is amazing, but NOT the bathrooms. The city should get involved because of how bad it is. It seems like it would be a serious health code hazard. read more

The first impression you get when you walk into this joint is that you just tripped back to the early 1970s - and unfortunately it's not a very good trip. This place needs some serious updating. I tried this place twice. After the first experience, I probably would have given them a strong three. The burger was cooked properly and although it didn't 'wow' me, it was pretty decent. The service was ok, although our waitress didn't know exactly what kind of beer they had, which I thought was very odd. They also charge $4 or $4.50 for both imports and domestic, which is outrageous for a place like this. So a month or two later we decided to grab a quick burger on our way home and stopped for a second try. It was about an hour before closing and the place was dead. Our disinterested waitress sauntered over and took our order. Meanwhile, the cook was planted in a chair in front of the overhead TV watching a game, only to take a quick break to cook our food. The food arrived rather quickly and several bites later we realized why. Both burgers were completely raw in the middle. Not slightly pink - Play-Doh red! To add insult to injury, the onion rings, which we paid extra to have instead of fries, were absolutely inedible and completely drenched with grease as if they were cooked in oil that was 100 degrees too cool. The waitress didn't return to our table for 15 minutes. When she finally came back, it was just to drop the check off. I stopped her and politely asked if the burgers are always served rare. She said no and took one look at them, shook her head in disgust and went back to the cook who was back watching the game in front of the TV. She came back to our table and apologized and said that she'll adjust the bill. When we got the check back the 'adjustment' was getting one burger for free, even though both of us barely touched all our food. Lesson learned - avoid the Ground Pati on Johnston. It needs to go away like reruns of the Partridge Family. read more

Massive ferns in each window, picture framed in stained glass diamond window patterns. Like a love child of a Golden Corral and a aged English pub & grub. I opted, as a first impression, to try their hamburger steak..seemingly their flagship entree. 8.50$ for so-say in house fresh ground beef burger steak, of which I've had more flavor and taste with one half that price at Wendy's further down Johnston St. Run of the mill steak fries, and a greasy, buttered hamburger bun cut into 8 (am I 6?) as....? A roll? Overall, extremely sub-par, and whilst not necessarily terrible, incredibly over priced. Friendly and punctual young waitress. This place has been open at least 20 some ought years. It's probably survived as long as I think it's the same motif as Judice Inn; a big local college ULL supporter, but equally as sub-par, running on the fumes of the nostalgia of alumni past and present. Pass...at least until it gets new management, or a Ramsay 'Kitchen Nightmare' visit. I see why I never came. Go Cajuns. read more

Had the pleasure of coming to this classic burger joint last night, been living in lafayette all my life and never realized one of the best burgers were made here. I had the Ground Pati burger and it was a great classic burger with plenty of fries, my server was extremely polite and performed well. Another thing I loved was the overall atmosphere, it had a very classic/ old style look which was great. not great. the pati is ground very fine and mixed after the fact, it's also not hand formed making the texture snappy and forced. burger is under seasoned and tastes like whatever was on the grill before they cooked ur burger, (for me, that was fish). onion rings are frozen and the french fries, like everything else, aren't seasoned. prefer judice inn just down the road. read more
