went in on a whim on a tuesday because i wanted some tears repaired on the collar of my jacket. tony initially said that the jacket would be ready by monday but i told him that i wanted to bring it to a vacation that i was leaving for on friday, and he was able to have it ready by friday. the craftsmanship is clean and precise, and it has survived a wash so far! i got to choose the color of the fabric too from a box of scrap fabrics, which i appreciated. paid a flat $30 for this. can't recommend tony enough! read more

I used this dry cleaner many times before and never had an issue, but they completely lost my business after my last visit. I brought in an expensive 100% cashmere coat. When I picked it up, the fabric was scratched and irreversibly ruined. The finish and structure of the garment were destroyed. I spoke directly to the owner, Tony, as well as two other employees working there. None of them had any solution to offer and they simply dismissed the issue entirely. Mistakes happen, but refusing to take responsibility or offer compensation to a customer after destroying an expensive item is unacceptable. Do not trust them with your clothing. Do not go here. I took 2 Theory silk blouses (more than $100 ea) to hem the sleeves. He measured it fine to my liking. When I picked it up, I made the mistake of not trying them on in a hurry. When i got home and tried them on, the sleeves were too short and could not be fixed because the material was cut off. Now I cannot wear them because I cannot bend my elbows unless I unbutton the cuffs. The silk blouses were ruined. I have never returned to this place since. read more

He recut old suits with pleaded pants to modern flat front pants and shorten jackets to a modern look. If you want pants hemmed, then go to the dry cleaners but Tony is a real tailor and build a custom suit from scratch. read more

I have a new (and already beloved) hoodie jacket. Alas, a couple of months passed, and the zipper was constantly jamming. So it sat in the closet for a while. But I decided I really liked it and wanted it fixed. My wife knew about Tony's so this afternoon I took it in. Tony was doing his tailoring craft, but he immediately stopped what he was doing and came over to the counter. I told him that zipper kept jamming and did the zipper needed replacement? He instantly unjammed it, cut off a loose thread where the zipper starts, cycled the zipper once, and told me there was nothing wrong with it. He showed me that I needed to make sure the zipper end was fully engaged. And he charged me nothing. The entire episode took less than 2 minutes. I now suspect the loose thread was causing the jamming, and he had fixed that small maintenance task automatically because he's a craftsman. At home, I rigorously tested it several times, and it worked like new. Thanks, Tony, you now have a new loyal customer. read more

Tony was very courteous and was able to meet my same day dress alterations for a company met gala. Walked in, Saturday afternoon.... Tried on, made a few adjustments pokes and pins. Mind you I had already just days before went to a different shop near my workplace. Hated the whole process with that shop and the lady didn't listen to me what so ever, they added some ruching I'm not the best area nor willing to even try to attempt what I wanted to do with the dress.., even worse the straps weren't even. Morning of the event, I went to my nearest cleaner "alterations" and apparently weren't able to do it properly either, wasn't too sure why but the worker just shook his head and apologized. Luckily, as I was leaving, a gentleman referred me to Tony's Tailors, it's local and close enough to make the driver over. Busy little business park and restaurant/small stores parking is tight but was able to run in and out. I honestly was a bit surprised on the cost, $65!? I need up paying $60 cash but I'm all honestly felt as if the price was pretty high for the few unstitching and "alterations" no inseams or take ins just a few minimal adjustments were required. In the end, I'd return. Not a regular but when in need I'd be happy to pay more for better quality and more reliable service and flexibility. I had a back up dress I was planning on also getting some adjustments and ruching added but ran out of time and in the end looked great and super pleased and comfortable, confident and confident in Tony's design and experience. read more

I've brought many dresses to be hemmed at Tony's. Price is normally consistent. However, this last week, I took a sundress and was over quoted significantly. In addition, I took a pair of jogging pants in prior to a trip in April, picked the pants up on the way to the airport and the pants were not fixed as stated. It was completely missing a zipper. I was told to bring them back after my trip and left them for another 3 days to return for them and they were not fixed. Tony stated he didn't have a zipper. I asked why haven't he contacted me. He stated he was about to call me. I wholeheartedly feel he was upset because I told him not to do the two dresses he wanted to charge me $125 to hem but to just fix the pants, another $25 on top of what was already paid. I took a dress to them the very first time for simple hem . I thought $55 was expensive but I was desperate and crunched for time needed the dress for an event in 2 days. They did a good job. Tony's reminds me of some place that could be in downtown L.A. but it's smack dab in the middle of Irvine. It is hard to find a good place to get clothes altered\ tailored. Usually you are stuck with your local dry cleaners who have someone come in once in a while to do alterations and it's expensive. Fortunately Tony's does a great job at a very reasonable price. Pants hemmed used to be just 10 bucks but my last pair was 13, still a good deal for quality work. The local dry cleaners charges $20 for the same thing and it takes a few days longer. Obvious choice. I have been coming here for a while and they are consistently good. They are the choice of a couple of area high schools for all of their sports and band uniforms. They rent tux's too. Anyhow if you are looking for a quality place at a fair price in Irvine then make Tony's your tailor. read more

It was close by and got good reviews so I decided to check this place out. It's a really small store so all you'll see is "Alterations" in red letters driving by, but they have "Susana's" written on their window. They're in the same plaza as Philly's Best and Layer Cake Bakery, one plaza over from Mimi's Cafe. I got the original hem on my designer jeans (I swear these jeans are made for 6'0 leggy leggy model types) and it cost $15. I thought they did a good job on the hem - I didn't have any complaints. It took them about 2 days to do it, but they did ask if I was in a hurry for them and I wasn't. read more

Everything has always come out as requested. They are efficient and prices are completely reasonable. The parking situation is average difficulty considering the spots/store ratio. I have been going here for years...This time around was a Huge disappointment. First of all, they got some kind of oil all over my dress, they said they would dry clean it. I wasn't mad initially. When I picked it up, not only is there Still oil on my dress, they charged me $99 instead of $66 for dry cleaning because there was an "original stain." When I got home, the lined bra they "sewed in" came right out!!! I thought about the situation a bit longer and decided to go back to get my money. I've taken several uniforms to Tony's for alterations, and their work has been fantastic!

This alterations shop is such a disappointment. I'd been going to the shop since the time Susana owned it (more than 20 years!) and it was fabulous--voted Best in OC for a number of years! And, I'd been going to Stonecreek Cleaners when Patrick owned it, and I loved it. The quality was excellent, it was truly a neighborhood mom n pop that loved its customers and treated them with respect. Since Tony bought the business and combined the cleaners and tailors, it has hit bottom. When Crystal is managing the front desk for cry cleaning, all is great -- she is pleasant, knowledgeable and recognizes her best customers. When Tony is there, he can never find my cleaning (I have waited 5-10 minutes several times!) he is unpleasant at best/surly at worst. Some of his staff are okay, but the alteration changes are very high (I often end up paying more for the alterations than for the item being tailored!) and the work is inconsistent (I've had to do several re-dos, one which I can't even wear now. The cheap suits and tacky mannequins in the display window should an embarrassment to Stonecreek Center. The cleaning quality remains good. But because of Tony, I am taking my alterations and cleaning elsewhere. Any suggestions? read more

They fitted her and said they can do it and to come back in 2 weeks. Two weeks later. We came back and the dress looked like it was dragged on the floor and also had what looked like black motor oil spots on the top front portion of the dress. They had the gall to say that it was like that when they got it. We could not believe our ears. This is a $2,500 dress and they managed to ruin it before my fiance could even get a chance to get married in it. I am in the process of trying to get a refund. I'm a very petite sized Asian (size 0 or 00) so every time I buy a suit for work or a dress, I have to get it tailored, which can become costly and is nerve-wacking since I don't want my expensive clothes ruined. I brought three suits (pants and jacket) to get tailored here. It cost me about $55. I've been to more and less expensive places but this location is close to home. I wasn't disappointed. My suits fit perfectly afterwards and I was thankful for that. Later on I brought two different dresses, purchased from Ralph Lauren, to get tailored. The dresses were size 0 and 2 and I needed them to fit perfect, which Tony was able to achieve at this location. The problem is that they don't really have set prices and they give you the price after seeing what kind of work they will have to do (not sure if that is typical). They are very expensive when it comes to dresses apparently but I needed them done quickly and gave them short-notice and they were able to do it in a rush order so I didn't mind paying. They are on the expensive side but I've had a great reliability with their tailors so I've been pleased with my experiences here. read more

I ripped my favorite denim skirt on the way to something and going home to change was out of the question.. In a panic I yelped for denim repair in the area and Susana's came up to be the top rated. I stopped by and showed the lady the rip, and she said "no problem, I patch it so it wouldn't rip again, I do it now" Lo and behold, 10 minutes and $10 later, my skirt was fixed! Crew employee of all people but since his clothes looked nice and tailored, I decided to give Susana's a try when I needed alterations done on a shirt. I was told by the J. Crew guy that a shirt should only be about $15 and to mention that I was a first time client for a discount but when I went into the store and after the changes were discussed, I was quoted $30! Even when I asked about a first time client discount, I was denied. Either I was just told the wrong information or the seamstress just wasn't in a good mood haha. All I needed done was to take the sleeves and shirt in since it was a bit too big for me. So 4 days later (which also seemed like a long turnaround time for just 1 shirt) when the shirt was done, I was happy with the end result but thought that it was just too expensive. I came here to get a maxi dress lined because it was totally see through. The lady that works here was confused by this, but eventually she understood exactly what I meant. She provided the fabric and did everything for $60 (it was a floor length dress). The dress was originally very lightweight fabric, and the "lining" fabric she chose to use was bulky, heavy cotton that was thicker than the dress itself. It got the job done (the dress is no longer see through), but it pulls the dress down and makes it feel heavy due to the immense weight of the lining. I think I am going to take the lining out and try again with more of a silky slip material....my bad for not double checking what fabric she'd be using and trusting her seamstress skills... read more

I normally take my clothes to Arsen's European Tailoring in Newport/Costa Mesa but wanted to go some place closer to home so I thought I'd give this place a try...boy do I regret that decision. I just needed a jacket have the sleeves lengthened and taken in a bit. I had to bring it back 3x because there were details that were just overlooked (that I had specifically requested)...i.e. button holes were misaligned with actual buttons! I LOVE SUSANA'S!!! I bought a pair of jeans from Abercrombie & Fitch a few months back, but they only had my size in a longer length. Needless to say, I still bought them, because I didn't want to wait for my length to ship. I took my jeans two days after purchasing them to have them hemmed. I like this little shop, because they have 2 dressing rooms for you to go in and put on your piece(s) of clothing on before they take out the tape measure and pins in order to mark where your clothes need to be hemmed, taken in, or let out, etc etc. The lady who worked with me was very quick and told me my jeans would be hemmed in 2-3 business days. I went in on a Tuesday and picked up my jeans on Friday. I paid $15 and she kept the original hem too! How AWESOME is that? My favorite tailor in Irvine hands down. read more
