    Fried Chicken Lunch Special
    Tinina L.

I remember when lunch specials were $6 lol There's is about $14 but you do get a lot of food. It's only chicken dishes. I ordered the fried chicken with sweet sauce.. it came with rice and peas, cabbage, and plantain. It was delicious. It's only one female working the front. She prepares orders and take payment. She can use some help to make ordering go faster.

Jerk chicken covered in sweet sauce

I reviewed this place 4 years ago and gave it 3 stars. Today, I'm lowering my rating. A month ago in a breakfast order, they didn't include an order of hominy porridge. Today, again, they didn't send my hominy porridge. I'm not sure what the problem is, but obviously quality control needs work. I gave them another chance and ordered dinner this evening. Mind you, I haven't ordered dinner from them since I left my review 4 years ago. I do, however, order breakfast from them regularly. They seem to be the only ones who don't sell cornmeal dumplings, which I hate. I planned to get stew peas, but they were out, so I opted to try their oxtail Rasta pasta. I've never ordered Rasta pasta from any restaurant, so ordered jerk chicken as a backup in case I didn't like the pasta. I asked for oxtail gravy; there was none on my food. Instead, the chicken was drowned in this sauce I did not want, nor expected to be there. Perhaps they should state in a description of the meal that it comes sauced. What happened to just putting sauce on the side? Not everybody wants their meat drowned in sauce. I asked for white meat. There was a small piece of breast, a wing, a leg, and thighs. I don't care for dark meat, so specifically noted that I wanted white meat, and called prior to ordering to ensure they had it. At no point during the conversation was I told that if I requested white meat, it would be mixed. There was more dark meat than anything. Considering the jerk chicken is $17.99, it should be of no consequence to them to give someone just white meat. If I go to Tropical Jerk and get jerk chicken, the minimum price is $8.99 for a jerk chicken meal. When you request white meat, you get just that, and not a mixture. I should've just ordered from there instead. Of course I called to express my dissatisfaction with them and was told that they always put sweet sauce on the chicken, and they don't serve just white meat. It was then that I remembered having a similar conversation with that same lady several years ago. She claims it wasn't her, but I'm pretty sure it was. I'll say again what I told her then. If it's such an issue to serve just white meat, do what some other places do, and charge extra for it. Some places charge an extra $1. This place just gives you what they want, regardless of what you request. At least she apologized. Ultimately, the Rasta pasta was decent, but spicy. The jerk chicken will be tossed. It was completely drowned in sauce and looks like stew chicken. After my many breakfast orders and experience today, what I've realized, is for a place that charges so much for everything, they're very cheap. You can't get white meat only in a $17.99 meal. In the breakfast, you can count the pieces of saltfish in the ackee & saltfish. They load it with onions and peppers to give the impression you have a lot, but once you pick everything out, which I do, you realize they didn't give you much at all. In the calaloo & saltfish, same thing. You can count the pieces of saltfish in there, if you can even find them. After today, it'll probably be another 4 years before I give them a shot with dinner again. I'm also reconsidering even bothering to get breakfast. This place clearly doesn't need my money, and obviously, after 4 years, nothing's changed. That's unfortunate.

Ordered on grub hub. No soup or patties and food red and raw. Issa no! Curry chicken and herk chicken both raw. Sad!

Food is good, but the attitude of the server/cashier has left a bitter taste and for that, I won't be coming back..

To start, they "brownies" are not actual brownies. They are individual slices of cake. I didn't notice this 2 years ago but having it again last night, the Cadbury brownie tastes like a layered sheet cake made from box mix. The frosting on top wasn't too sweet, but certainly doesn't carry the richness of Cadbury chocolate. In a slice this simple, there's really no place to hide and paying that much for something that taste like it was battered out a box is not worth it in my opinion. The Dubai chocolate slice tasted better, but tbh, the Dubai chocolate cake from Costco not only tastes better but has a better price point! I was really excited to try their ice cream - I loved their flavor choices, but that's where my fondness pretty much stopped. The pints were pricey and taste super home made (not in a good way). The ice cream was hard and while it tasted like sweet cream, it was definitely not churned enough to carry a smooth texture. They pints were Van Leeuwen prices but the taste and texture was far from quality ice cream. In this case, I much rather pick up a pint of Hagen Daz, again much better price point and better quantity. The store is pretty but I won't be returning.

Be careful when ordering from this place…read more I ordered an engagement cake and paid the full amount through Zelle. I specifically requested delivery at 5:30 PM, but the cake was not delivered on time. They barely answered their phone, and after many calls, someone finally responded and promised delivery by 6:30 PM. Because of the delay, I had to ask all of our guests to wait before eating, and the photographer had to stay longer since the engaged couple needed to take pictures with the cake first. The cake was not delivered until 8:00 PM, after the party was already over. I was later told that the driver had serious health issues and was in a coma. While I am sympathetic to anyone facing a medical emergency, the bakery should have communicated with me honestly and made alternative arrangements instead of leaving me waiting for hours with no clear information. To make matters worse, the cake arrived partially melted, and they used artificial flowers for the decoration without informing me beforehand. The final product did not look as expected at all. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, especially for such an important event. I would not order from them again.

We clearly agreed that the cake would match a reference photo, including specific colors and Spiderman eye decorations. The manager reviewed the image with me and allowed me to take a photo of her phone showing the exact design we agreed upon. When my husband arrived to pick up the cake--after the promised pickup time--the cake was brought out, but the manager quickly asked for it to be returned to the kitchen because it was not ready. At that point, it was clear the cake was also missing the agreed‑upon decorations. I spoke directly with the manager, who then denied ever agreeing to include the Spiderman eyes, despite having reviewed and approved the design earlier. Most concerning, my husband later observed the manager alter the photo on her phone, removing the decorations we had discussed. Additional requested decorations were also not put on the cake. It has now been weeks, and no one has followed up, despite being told the owner would contact me. For the price and the importance of the occasion, this level of disorganization, lack of accountability, and dishonesty is unacceptable. I expected professionalism, transparency, and follow‑through--and received none.
