This review and rating is strictly for the fried dumplings that I have at least twice a week. I have my partner go down there from the Bronx to pick it up. This location is all the way in Long Island. The fried dumplings are perfectly round, a gold brown and have a sweetness to them that I haven't tasted anywhere else. I recently tried the callaloo and it wasn't for me and the plantains weren't sweet but they never disappoint with the fried dumplings. The customer service could be better. Today was my first time actually going in and speaking with someone and it wasn't as I expected. The lady had me stand at the counter for over five minutes as she held conversation with someone in the back and when she finally got to me, she picked up a personal call. We ordered a small jerk chicken and a small soup with a bottled water for $16 and when I opened my bag to eat I couldn't believe it . The only place I get my Jamaican breakfast from In Long Island. Every Sunday Morning for years. The lady in the back I wish I remembered her name but she would replace the provision with saltfish and okra because of my sugar. That was nice of her. I reviewed this place 4 years ago and gave it 3 stars. Today, I'm lowering my rating. A month ago in a breakfast order, they didn't include an order of hominy porridge. Today, again, they didn't send my hominy porridge. I'm not sure what the problem is, but obviously quality control needs work. I gave them another chance and ordered dinner this evening. Mind you, I haven't ordered dinner from them since I left my review 4 years ago. I do, however, order breakfast from them regularly. They seem to be the only ones who don't sell cornmeal dumplings, which I hate. I planned to get stew peas, but they were out, so I opted to try their oxtail Rasta pasta. I've never ordered Rasta pasta from any restaurant, so ordered jerk chicken as a backup in case I didn't like the pasta. I asked for oxtail gravy; there was none on my food. Instead, the chicken was drowned in this sauce I did not want, nor expected to be there. Perhaps they should state in a description of the meal that it comes sauced. What happened to just putting sauce on the side? Not everybody wants their meat drowned in sauce. I asked for white meat. There was a small piece of breast, a wing, a leg, and thighs. I don't care for dark meat, so specifically noted that I wanted white meat, and called prior to ordering to ensure they had it. At no point during the conversation was I told that if I requested white meat, it would be mixed. There was more dark meat than anything. Considering the jerk chicken is $17.99, it should be of no consequence to them to give someone just white meat. If I go to Tropical Jerk and get jerk chicken, the minimum price is $8.99 for a jerk chicken meal. When you request white meat, you get just that, and not a mixture. I should've just ordered from there instead. Of course I called to express my dissatisfaction with them and was told that they always put sweet sauce on the chicken, and they don't serve just white meat. It was then that I remembered having a similar conversation with that same lady several years ago. She claims it wasn't her, but I'm pretty sure it was. I'll say again what I told her then. If it's such an issue to serve just white meat, do what some other places do, and charge extra for it. Some places charge an extra $1. This place just gives you what they want, regardless of what you request. At least she apologized. Ultimately, the Rasta pasta was decent, but spicy. The jerk chicken will be tossed. It was completely drowned in sauce and looks like stew chicken. After my many breakfast orders and experience today, what I've realized, is for a place that charges so much for everything, they're very cheap. You can't get white meat only in a $17.99 meal. In the breakfast, you can count the pieces of saltfish in the ackee & saltfish. They load it with onions and peppers to give the impression you have a lot, but once you pick everything out, which I do, you realize they didn't give you much at all. In the calaloo & saltfish, same thing. You can count the pieces of saltfish in there, if you can even find them. After today, it'll probably be another 4 years before I give them a shot with dinner again. I'm also reconsidering even bothering to get breakfast. This place clearly doesn't need my money, and obviously, after 4 years, nothing's changed. That's unfortunate. read more

Food is good but service is slow, the best thing they have is curry goat and roti that is my go-to, the oxtail was okay and the rice isn't the best. The other thing that really annoys me is that they leave the bread out and exposed to flies and thats the same bread they give for free with every meal so in the winter time is the best and only time to consume the bread, all in all if you want some good roti and curry goat try and call ahead and take a extra 10 before you go. read more

I absolutely love this place! One of my only qualms is the fact that I need to drive 20 mins to get there. Will typically get the jerk chicken or stewed chicken with a beef patty and fried dumpling. Reviews said oxtail is very good here and lo and behold, they are! Finally a solid Jamaican restaurant on long Island with good oxtail. I've been here twice so far to get oxtails and they didn't disappoint. They give a decent amount of food as well. I didn't give 5 stars because the wait time is RIDICULOUS. I think it's mostly because they have Uber/Doordash orders and seem to have a very hard time keeping up. Both times I went only one person working the counter AND trying to fulfill the mobile orders. They GOTTA get better at this. I literally waited 27mins(yes I counted) just to be served and it was only 2 people on the line. Unacceptable. Food was very good. Chicken is well cooked and rice is to very good as well. Taking a trip from Reading, Pa just to have this food that is "To Die For!" 3 and a half hours driving while it's snowing. Was my spot instead of tropical jerk because they always had everything on deck. But they left a bad taste in my mouth recently. Hospitality is key and they are lacking. Walked in for first time on a recommendations from another family. Went there for lunch. I was serviced rather quickly. The restaurant is very clean and welcoming. Walking into Tony's Bakery it's very clean, greeted with great hospitality and the food always looks fresh!! They always have several dishes out from Jamaican Patties, Jerk Chicken, Curry Goat, Ackee and Saltfish, Run down, callaboo, Rice and Peas, Bammy and of course many many more. Given the Covid-19 pandemic, I was horrified to see the server behind the counter with her face mask resting on her chin. Her mouth and nose was fully exposed! She was speaking to a customer while over the food and spewing whatever was coming out of her mouth. To top it off, there were customers inside the small space NOT wearing face masks.
