I really enjoyed coming here, and wanted to try this place out for a while now. I met up with two of my cousins and enjoyed it. The walls had I guess you can say like play books on it. Which I thought was really nice. The food was good for a diner. My one cousin and I got pancakes, she got two with I think chocolate chips, and I got plain pancakes. My other cousin got waffles with bacon. They all came with syrup and butter separately. Which is nice since we could put on however much we wanted. Once I put my butter and syrup on, which I did put on quite a bit, it didn't look soggy or disgusting when I cut into the pancakes. Which to me looks great The waiter was really nice and I think we only had to get his attention once. We did come around 11 am on a Wednesday, so it looked a bit more relaxed than what I'm assuming it would be during their rush hours. We were a party of 9 so with everyone ordering several items we kind of ran out of space. Got the Halley Bailey sandwich. Wow! Just stack on the meats. Came with cole slaw. Lets just say, bad business. We looked on their website. THEIR OWN WEBSITE. We saw Nutella pancakes for $10.75. We ordered on the phone and picked up. I waited at the counter, got the pancakes and saw the bill was $18.95. I brought the bill up to the counter, explained nicely that the website states they are $10.75 (which btw, it still says it and this was happened 2 weeks ago). Lady at counter had to get owner or manager. Older gentleman came over, already with an attitude. Said the website was broken. I said, well perhaps you should be honoring the price your website shows, or get it fixed ASAP. He said the website is wrong, we go by the menu. Pointed at their menu and walked away. Day one of my vacation and after another Giants loss, I ended up waking up hungry. I had "Grand Stage" diner in my sights for a while. Now it's time to try. The parking lot is huge, with additional parking in the back. They needed it, because the place was packed. In the front, the building is beautiful and, well, for lack of words, grand! Heading in you end up in the foyer. Once, past it, you ended up inside. The place is modern, with low lights. However, the sunlight gets in and adds a bit of energy. The seating is plush leather with designs in the middle and they have a pretty large bar. You line up at the hostess stand and they quickly seat you. Not even that long after our waitress came over. She was extremely friendly. We waisted no time ordering. She quickly went and put the order in, than we waiting. But, we didn't wait that long actually! The food came out quick and hot. She placed it on the table and after she corrected one mistake, I was off to the races. The home fries were great. I loved the crunchy top. They also were seasoned well. The omelette was fluffy and full of cheese. The sausage was cooked perfectly and the toast even wasn't bad. I really enjoyed my meal. After we walked over to the hostess to compliment the business. Came here late for a quick bite, and thankfully the place was mostly empty, so we got seated right away. The tables were spaced well apart, so we didn't feel cramped, and the place had a clean, welcoming vibe. Our server was friendly and attentive, and our food came out quickly. I had a burger with fries--solid diner burger, and they didn't skimp on the fries, which was a nice touch. However, towards the end of our meal, our server disappeared, and we had to flag down someone else to get the check. Not a huge deal, but a little annoying. The bigger issue was that this location doesn't allow tipping on credit card payments, so you have to tip in cash. None of us had cash on hand, so we had to scrounge up some change from our car to leave a tip. I'm not a fan of this practice--it's the server who ends up suffering, not the business. The burger arrived in under 2 minutes, it was cooked medium, but it was dry. These are pre cooked, not cooked fresh. If i wanted pre cooked, i could have went next door to burger king. Won't be going here anymore. I would come here every 2-3 weeks with my wife, sometimes with friends. I tip well, never a problem to speak of. There was a question of $3.25 that I considered wrong and pointed it out. The cashier, I believe was Lauren(?), told us we were wrong and the bill was correct. I see both sides but obviously she did not. Told her we would not be coming back and that the bill should be adjusted. She refused. If there is a $3.25 difference, you as a business say okay, sorry we'll take care of it, especially with good customers. Instead she just said "okay". Sunday December 7. My family and I went there after seeing the light show at Eisenhower Park, which by the way was fantastic. We entered about 7:05 and sat down to a fairly empty place. Just a few tables had patrons. We waited almost 10 minutes before any menus were presented and to be honest they were just plopped down on the table. The waiter seemed to have an attitude from the start. 5 minutes later, the water arrived via a different person. As we waited patiently for the waiter to come back to at least take drink orders, is was if he disappeared. Finally, I saw him and told him we were ready for drink orders which was basically 2 iced teas, 2 cokes, 1 ginger ale and 1 milk. that took a few minutes of waiting until he re=appeared and I told him we are still waiting for the drinks. When he finally appeared with the drinks we knew we had to order dinner due to this slow service. we ordered 4 full dinners plus a grilled cheese with fries and a cheeseburger deluxe, The four full dinners comes with soup or salad. Usually by this time a basket of bread and pickles are on the table. The place was not crowded and he was not the only waiter. We told him NO ONIONS in the salad but based on his surly attitude I reminded him again as he departed and he said in a nasty voice LOUDLY, I heard you- i responded =good now you cannot mess that up. He then spoke to the other waiters in Spanish and the busboy who clears the table not thinking we heard him or that we understand spanish. What he did not know is that my son in law is of Latin descent and my dhtr knows spanish very well. She could not hear exactly what he said but she said he definitely was saying bad things about us. Also, they OWN a restaurant and know and understand how things are supposed to be and they were growing angrier by the minute of the service. It took at least 15 minutes for the soup to arrive and although the soup was good and hot, 15 minutes for soup to arrive is too long of a time, Then the cheeseburger deluxe comes out and grilled cheese food comes but no dinners. Other tables that entered after us with the same waiter had ordered and been served and yet we are still waiting. As we then expected the dinners to arrive, he appears and tells my wife the order of Moussaka is no longer available. Why did he not tells us this 15-20 minutes ago? My wife was then quite upset since she was looking forward to this and at this point, I wanted to just leave. She chose a different dinner and we then waited 20 plus minutes and still no food. I decided to complaint to the manager. I walked up front and the person was sitting there playing on her phone and said yes his NAME is Joe- as if I should know this and where he is, She sAID OR DID NOTHING ELSE. I then said - well get him and stop playing on the phone. Her lazy, slow walk to the kitchen to get Joe was then greeted by the disappearing waiter who automatically tells her- I told them the chef just told me the Moussaka was not available, I then told both of them-just get Joe. I sat back down and waited- 15 minutes before Joe comes out with the waiters and all of the food on the trays. We had already put our coats on and decided to leave -15 minutes and he does not come out-cmon. I told him we are not interested and we are not paying- too late. My son in law still wanted to pay for the grilled cheese and cheeseburger but i told him- no way = we have been insulted many times and we owe them NOTHING. Joe tried to cover for the waiter and tried to apologize and I told him we have waited an hour and 10 minutes and now you bring the food- he tells me he was helping in the kitchen ( i call bs) AND then said Ill check the ticket as when ordered- i told him he can check the ticket but my time is correct- he looked at the ticket and his face said it all. i told him- we are leaving- we are NOT PAYING and then my dhtr said to him-your waiter was surly, nasty and should be fired- this should be his last day working here. She then said to Joe- he did not know I speak Spanish and said he told the other workers in spanish that were annoying. Joe then said the food is already cooked, itis free - take it-I told him no you eat it and now u eat 6 meals that was cooked and not paid for= your loss. other few remaining patrons looked on in horror as they also were still waiting for their food. This place is a horror show. I felt was not clean = had a dumpy feel and a run down feel and DO NOT VISIT THIS LOCATION AT ALL. i hope they closed by the Board of Health or people stop going. Yummy diner! This used to be a different diner and it has become so much better since being renovated and rebranded as Grand Stage, The menu is huge with breakfast tucked in the back. Their omelettes are always delicious and you can fully customize as much or as little as you like. They also have a great pastrami that can be added to any omelette which is a nice touch. Service here is slow, especially on the weekends. It took forever for us to get a high chair for my nephew and later on the check when we were ready to leave. The parking lot is also a disaster with a bunch of one ways that makes getting out confusing. read more

I came here hoping for a simple, enjoyable breakfast--French toast and a breakfast burrito. Instead, I got a frustrating experience that left me feeling completely dismissed. The issue? The breakfast burrito, which is not supposed to have bacon, had bacon bits hidden inside. I didn't notice until my last bite, and thank goodness it was too hot to finish--otherwise, I would've unknowingly eaten something I don't or can't eat. We waited a good while before anyone checked on us, and when we finally told them about the issue, the server got the manager. That's when things really went downhill. Instead of acknowledging the mistake, the manager had the audacity to gaslight us--insisting there was no bacon in the burrito (as if I imagined it) and claiming we still had to pay for it. I truly don't think the bacon was intentional, but it was there, and that's the problem. Maybe it got mixed in by mistake in the kitchen, but that doesn't make it okay. At first, the manager flat-out refused to remake the order--not that we even wanted another plate after this experience. Then she refused to refund it, citing the fact that we ate part of the side that came with the meal. Seriously? Instead of taking accountability, she stood there refusing to believe the small, very real bits of evidence in front of her. The "solution" she offered? A measly discount of a few bucks off a $14 meal. No sincere apology, no real effort to make things right--just a dismissive attitude that made it clear she couldn't care less. At that point, I was beyond frustrated. I expect mistakes to happen--what I don't expect is to be treated like I'm lying about it. The way this was handled was absolutely unprofessional, and I felt completely disrespected as a customer. She was rude, obnoxious, and berated my server right in front of me. She was unprofessional toward my server over a simple mistake of just $7. I even felt compelled to cover the cost myself because it seemed like it was being taken out of his pay and it was disgusting to watch her behavior. Food is excellent, but for the bakery section I've gotten cookies at different times within the past 2 months and they literally smell and taste like fabric softener, I don't know why or maybe the hand towels they're using is doused in fabric softener when they get cleaned and then used but it is a strong fabric softener taste in the cookies. Our first visit to the Grand Stage, very good experience overall. Had brunch under their large white outdoor tent. Grand Stage shares a spacious lot with Walgreens so there's plenty of parking. We were warmly welcomed and served by Monika, a super friendly person who provided us with excellent service. She even gave us several beverage refills and extra napkins without our asking despite the place being very busy. Thank you Monika you rock! Loved the music and lush tropical plantings, made the place feel festive despite The Rona raging around us. Safety protocols strictly followed with masked staff and patrons, well spaced tables and disposable cutlery. Eats: My veggie omelette was good and ginormous, loaded with tomatoes, onion, shrooms and broccoli. So big I could barely finish it. Came with home fries, good although some were burnt (no biggie). Bacon was plentiful although it could have been crispier. Loved the fresh squeezed OJ and flavorful rich coffee, far superior to the weak dishwater served at other diners round here. Hubbie got his usual cheeseburger deluxe, said it was very flavorful. Pricing was reasonable on par with other LI diners that aren't as good. The food was average and somewhat salty for my tastes but the speedy service and immediate table (on a Friday afternoon before Christmas) trumps all of that. Its a very cool themed diner, Broadway. First, this place is immaculate! They must spend so much time keeping this place clean. Second, the service is very good. And finally the menu, what a menu, so many items to choose from! We had a tough time deciding but we did. My wife had an egg wrap with fries. The wrap was great, it was packed full and was really good. My aunt had tuna on rye bread. She said it was good. It also was so big she could only eat half of it. My daughter had a salmon burger with fries Instead of a small piece of fish, it was ground in to a paddy that fit the entire bun, and it was also good. And as for me I had the Mexican wrap with chips, basically a chicken burrito with out beans. Other then I was to lazy to ask for some hot sauce, it was so good. I had a LEO omelette when this diner re-opened years ago and I was back yesterday to have another. The food is still very good, albeit a lot more expensive; but such is life today in a post-pandemic food establishment trying to survive. I added a toasted bagel and some undercooked "well done" French fries to my omelette and I'm leaving very satisfied, as usual. I don't really mind paying the $16 for an omelette, but I had to draw the line with $6 or $7 orange juice, which I'm trying to avoid anyway because of the sugar. But it goes against my nature to pay as much for a glass of juice as two half gallon containers of Tropicana. And as long as I am on this jag, can I just say (publicly) that you can spare me the fresh squeezed juice. Tropicana is more tasty and refreshing.
