First time visitor. I was absolutely scalped at Villa Park Barber Shop, same place and owner, across the street from when it was Tony's. Bri cut my hair. I told her "half off" (was like 2-1/2" long), and she left less than 1/2", WAY too short! It looks like crap. If she didn't understand what I said - ASK ! Then when she handed me the mirror at the end I was shocked and told her so. Her response - "Wow, you're hard to please" Right, because I'm the customer and I expect to get something at least CLOSE to what I wanted !!! I will NEVER go there again, terrible service and rude. Lastly, it's Cash Only - I didn't see a sign saying that and wasn't told until I went to pay. B.S. - what place doesn't take a credit card ? It's 2023 ! read more

Tony's Barber Shop is truly a gem. I have got my haircut here for a little over a year and have never been disappointed. When I got a job on the West Coast, I was truly sad about leaving. Tony's a great conversationalist who has great style. I could walk into the barber shop and just tell him to do his thing, and I would leave satisfied. He also does beard trims as well and is skilled with the straight razor. He is cash only but there is a 7-11 right next door so it was never an issue for me. Furthermore, his haircuts are reasonably priced compared to what I would have to pay in the city. Make sure to book an appointment a week (or two) in advanced as his schedule fills up quick. When you walk in, you will see all the guys working there with a very nice square shaped hairstyle with a clean and very neat neck and sides lines, that will make you feel very good on the service that they provide. The first time I went there, a very nice young girl did an awesome job with my hair without any issue. Since she wasn't there, and as I watched this young fellow leave cuts marks right behind the ears of a very short cut for another customer, I was thinking the possibility that I could have the chance to do mine with someone else when the young fellow approached me saying: "I can take care of you Sr." Among the usual conversation theme of how do you want your hair done Sr. and how long ago did you have you hair done I heard the question "Which number Sr.? It is Okay a 3 or you want me to start with a 4" I remembered a flashback of the young girl of the $5 bucks haircutters that many years ago ripped my hair straight across of the top of my head with a lawnmower motion, leaving no time to decide nor stop the fait of my now, gone style. Well, he didn't started right on the top, he did it right above the eyebrows. A mistake that only time will repair as I told him that there was nothing that he could do now, it will eventually grow. I told him about all my years going to barbershops, all the cuts start around the head going up to leave room for the question it is too short or too long. (Whit the exception mentioned above) His answer: "Well, we all have different styles Sr." "Sorry about that" I have to recognize that he did a really good job shaving my neck and making it all right from behind. But I may have to keep wearing a hat until the time to fix my now, round egg-shaped hair style disappears. read more
