Visiting from out of town, my young son and I had a great experience at Tony's Burrito Mex! Great congenial service with delicious food (the chili rellano was a simple delicious preparation). I have to admit, I've been to Tony's on several occasions. I can't seem to find a really good place to get a burrito in the neighborhood, so I guess this is the closest thing. I typically don't go after bar on weekends, which I'm sure would be annoying. I just grab my chicken burrito to go and ask for extra red sauce, because otherwise they'll give you one red and one green (which i don't care for). The mexican guys working there are always nice to me and I like that you can see them cooking the food. Nothing spectacular, but Tony's is cheap and it satisfies my burrito craving when I don't want to go too far from home. read more

I've been eating here since I moved to the Logan Square/Roscoe Village area in 2005. When I first went here, I was very skeptical since the name is Tony's. I thought we were going to get a meatball burrito or something Italian, but their food is probably the best of the "fast food" Mexican places in the city. The good Lord has fallen from heaven and fallen upon Tony's Burrito Mex restaurant! I am very critical of Mexican food at ALL restaurants. It takes one visit to convince me whether to come back or to send out a 411 via-helicopter, to warn people to save their money! This little "hole-in-the-wall" (if you will) has become the hard to top Mexican Restaurant in Chicago since I've been here. Sopes are to die for! I am from Milwaukee, WI and there is not ONE restaurant that even offers this very popular dish on their Menu. Believe me when I say that this is traditional, homemade right from my "abuelita's" kitchen, MEXICAN FOOD! I was in heaven the first night I stopped into Tony's a few weeks ago...AFTERBAR! I could not stop talking about how much this was just like my abuelita's (grandmother-for you gringillos out there) food. The sope was perfect! It had a crunch in the masa, the refried beans were NOT from a "can," the chicken was cooked to perfection, the fresh lettuce, tomato and avocado along with the queso fresco...YEP! Just like my abuelita's! (I wonder if she was in the kitchen?) Be sure to add the rice water-cinnamon drink, known as "HORCHATA" to your dish when placing your order. You won't have any regrets! Tony's is the best- I would fight anyone who disses them. The burritos are filling and a good price. I'm glad they're open late because they've saved me countless nights. I like to get steak quesadillas for a lil snack, burritos or the enchilada suiza meal for a dinner. Also their fries are really good- just the right amount of salty :) Everyone's friendly there (shout out to Miguel) and I'm always in and out in about 10 minutes for to go orders. Nothing better than stumbling home from a night of excessive drinking and knowing that I can still grab a decent plate of Mexican for a great price. Sure the food may not be anything to really brag about, but it definitely suits my needs at the time. The service is extremely quick and the staff is always friendly. I normally just take it home living only a block away, but I always think that no refill policies are such a pain. definitely not the best burrito joint by far but its close to home base, its not to expensive, and its the only place open past midnight in roscoe village. the downsides are: its only open past midnight on friday and saturday and its really really greasy and will send you to the bathroom within 2 hours of eating it (what mexican food doesnt do that though). bottom line, if your drunk in roscoe village past 12 am on a weekend GO TO TONY"S!!!! the veggie sopes w/ avocado are AMAZING!!! read more

I had been by place this place many times before finally trying it recently and came away adding it to my list of 3:00 a.m. dining options. The burrito supreme was cheap, loaded with cheese and heavy on the meat (steak for me, chicken for my friend). With those three essentials it is hard to go wrong on a burrito. Tony's is the best Mexican joint for those nights when It's 3AM and you've been drinking. They are open till 4AM on weekends and are always extremely quick. Oh and did I mention delicious!
