It was hard to use this way and I worried about it getting even worse. These guys were able to completely restore it! It works like brand new now. The price was great and they got the job done fast. ((4.25 stars))…read more located in the Chinatown and Lower East Side convergence known as Dimes Square-- this cool repair shop is parked on Canal Street and is packed with all kinds of electronics from old vintage tvs to old A/V devices like stereos, amps, cameras, video cameras, etc. people come here to get their old or new devices repaired or troubleshot. i have not gotten anything repaired here, but there always seems to be a steady stream of people bring in stuff to be brought back to life. i mostly stop here because they put out a table or two of old (20+ years old or more) print magazines like Life, Time, Newsweek, Rolling Stone, and more. there's no rhyme or reason to the selection of magazines other than being old...picked up a few old magazines that caught my eye, over the last few weeks. spoke to one of the staff here who said that they just put of an assortment because they have a large stock of them. definitely a unique store and how many repair places do you actually see in neighborhoods these days? not many if at all. so if you are looking to revive some dead media device, i'd head here. for me, it's the old print magazines which is totally dead media. Oh, and it's cash only!

Then I decided to try PC Richard & Son, and I'm so glad I did. When I called the Bay Ridge location, Mr. B answered the phone. I explained what had happened, and he couldn't have been nicer. He told me he could order me the same unit at the same price, and installation would be no problem. They even offered the same 0% financing option. The whole process was easy. I ordered the unit over the phone in about 15 minutes. PC Richard & Son sent two teams: one to make sure the washer/dryer would fit down my stairs and into the closet, and another for installation. Albert, a Licensed Master Plumber, and his colleague Christian installed my gas dryer quickly and correctly. They were professional and friendly and did a great job. Couple days after installation, Mr. B called to tell me the unit I bought had just gone on sale and that he was refunding my credit card $54.44. I have never had a store call me on their own to give me a refund after a sale. That really impressed me. Mr. B, you are the best. You've earned a customer for life. I also want to mention Ralph, another associate who was just as friendly and helpful. If you're shopping for appliances, skip the big box stores and call PC Richard & Son in Bay Ridge. Ask for Mr. B -- you'll be glad you did!

Variety of merchandise is pretty wide with DIY sections being rather useful and interesting. Aisles are clean and wide, well-lit. It's easy to reserve pieces of merchandise online in order to later pick them up at store. Mail-in freebies offers are nice, too. The Brooklyn location amenities include large parking space and restrooms. There is no loud, crappy music blasted into your ears. Thank you for that! I tend to escape some establishments where music is loud and annoying. Too bad that the store has no seating spaces, since the location is quite spacious, and if you have time to spend there, you get tired. Definitely do your homework before visiting Micro Center, as that place is certainly intriguing, but your experience there is much better, if you know why you are there. If you decide to misbehave at that store somehow badly, then keep in mind that a New York City Department of Correction building is right next door :) .

Jude did an excellent job on my NAD 3020 integrated amp. It had always sounded good but had…read moreidiosyncrasies that I accepted as typical of a vintage audio component from eBay. It worked well enough for my purposes, I told myself. The built-in phono stage wasn't exactly usable, but I had my own external preamp that I liked, and there were times the sound would cut out if something got ever-so-slightly jostled, but then it stopped producing sound from the left channel altogether and the quirks stopped seeming so cute. I called Jude and described the problem. He picked the amp up and returned it sounding better than ever. I now have a restored amp that sounds great for less than I paid for it in its rusty, loose condition years ago. I would note that the quoted time frame was the Sunday following a Wednesday pickup, and it did take some phone tag to get the unit back, which ended up being two weeks after I first handed it off. My guess is that because we live in totally different parts of the city, Jude was trying to time the repair relative to when he could feasibly come my way, and from what he told me, the repair was somewhat more complicated than expected once he got around to it. Notably, this was during the stretch of winter when there were the two huge storms within a couple of weeks of each other, so that didn't help either. Delays like this obviously seem inherent to a one-person home operation, and I wouldn't have expected such a quick turnaround if not for the original quote (and other reviews mentioning quick turnarounds). He was always friendly and polite on the phone even as I worried I was pestering him. Overall, I felt the service lived up to my expectations. Given that he's a genuinely nice person providing a specialized service for reasonable prices and will pick up and drop off your gear for you (even if you don't live anywhere near Flatbush), I can't complain--just unfortunate timing that I found myself without a working stereo system out during a period when I was barely going outside. Still, I have a feeling it'll be sounding great for many seasons to come.

He treated it with the kind of respect and precision you just don't see much anymore. He was knowledgeable, communicative, and clearly passionate about old-school audio gear. He diagnosed the issue quickly, explained what was going on in plain language, and the turnaround was faster than I expected. Most importantly -- it sounds fantastic now. Warm, clean, and alive again. He offered to pick it up and drop it off from my home. Instead we met halfway on a street corner! It felt a little strange just handing over my vintage baby to a complete stranger. But I knew from from his warm smile, and knowledge of the gear that I was in good hands. It took under a week and he did a fantastic job!! If you care about your vintage equipment and want someone who truly understands these pieces, Jude is your guy. Highly recommended.
