WHY WE WENT HERE: - wanted to try a new (to us) fried chicken joint THE LOOK (FROM THE OUTSIDE): - located on the corner of 23rd Ave and 42nd Ave - located next door to Hi & Buy Liquor THE LOOK (FROM THE INSIDE): - not a dine-in type of place; it's literally an order and take-out type of place THE MENU: - various fried things including American fried foods and Indian fried foods; menu differed from the front (outdoors) vs. inside (by the cash register) but apparently all items are available to order WHAT WE ORDERED: - bone-in chicken - honey biscuits - potato wedges - onion rings THE TASTE: - the look and taste was reminiscent of (good) Krispy Krunchy Chicken locations, especially the honey biscuits - chicken was very crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside; seasoned nicely - honey biscuits were good! - potato wedges were solid; hard to find a place that messes those up - onion rings were decent; could have been better if they were packaged in a box vs. in a bag; everything but the onion rings traveled well in the car ride home CUSTOMER SERVICE: - kind of feels like they rush you to order and get out - we were led to believe that the sauces that are in "cups" were in-house; we were surprised to see that it's $0.85 per small Sweet Baby Ray's condiment cup of the Buffalo Wing Sauce and the Barbecue Sauce (just have your go-to condiments at home ready; better deal that way vs. buying the sauce here)

The 5 stars is strictly for the chicken and chicken alone. This is some of the best fried chicken I've ever had. It's crispy, juicy and flavorful. We did order some sides: biscuits, macaroni and cheese, coleslaw and potato wedges. The biscuits were nice and drizzled with honey, while the rest of the sides were hit or miss. Don't get the coleslaw, just don't. Overall, the star of the show is the fried chicken and it's definitely worth the trip. Pro tip, definitely call ahead or order through an app and give them about 20-30 minutes since they fry the chicken to order.

Delicious and crunchy fried chicken! Loved the biscuits as well. The gravy on the mashed potatoes could've used a little more flavor.

It's the best-fried chicken I have ever had in Sacramento. The customer service was excellent, and the chicken was fresh, hot, and crispy.

Oh how the greats fall…read more About 10 years ago, when Fire Wings started popping up, it was legit one of the best wing spots around. Unfortunately, its time at the top was short lived. Year after year the quality and service declined, and eventually I stopped going. I rarely order delivery, but wings sounded good and Fire Wings is the closest to me, so I gave it another shot for old times sake. I have dined in at the midtown location before and it's fine, fast casual and usually busy late night. Today, I ordered the 10 wing combo with plain fries. Hot take, but I've never liked their seasoned fries. They always feel overcooked and oily to me. I got mango habanero and lemon pepper, added five extra fire wings, and an extra ranch. The total would've been $38, but I had a $10 off coupon, so it came out to $28 before tip. Still expensive, but that's delivery pricing these days, not really the restaurant's fault. What is their fault is the size of these wings. Look at the photos, they were like toothpicks. I used to love Fire Wings because they served good quality wings with a lot meat on them. These had to have had less than an ounce of meat each. And it wasn't just a few of them, like 80% of the order was undersized. I honestly feel like they might have set aside a bunch of small wings for delivery orders, because the last time I dined in they were not this ridiculously small. The fries were whatever, basically standard frozen fries. I do remember that they used to give a ton of seasoned fries back in the day, but it looks like they also skimp on fries as well these days. The ranch was just okay, nothing special. The mango habanero was solid, one of my favorite wing flavors. Lemon pepper was just okay. And the fire flavor, which is supposed to be spicier than regular buffalo, tasted exactly like regular buffalo. This will be the last time I give Fire Wings my business. I have to accept they just aren't what they used to be. At this point I'd honestly take Wingstop over them for bigger wings and better sides. It's a shame, because the one thing Fire Wings always had going for them was their range of flavors.

He suggested the Prime Rib Dip, which looked delicious, but they were out of the white cheese, so I got to try it without the cheese. That was very good too, so I can't wait to come back and try it WITH the cheese. The sauce (au jus) is a thicker sauce, and with the horseradish sauce, was the perfect complement. My granddaughter loved her hamburger, and my daughter was okay with her fish and chips. This place is packed but the servers are on top of it. There are plenty of TVs throughout the venue, but the larger ones behind the bar looked a bit faded and weren't very clear. From my seat, I often had to look around other people to see the game, which wasn't the experience I expected. Sitting directly under a large TV also felt awkward, almost like everyone was looking in my direction, and I accidentally hit my head on the corner of the TV a couple of times. The food was what I'd expect from a sports bar--good, but nothing particularly memorable. Would I come back? Yes. Would I pay for the VIP experience again? Probably not. I don't think it offered enough value for the price.

The food: I enjoyed the food. Chicken had a light batter and a good crunch. Not sure what about it but it got soggy fast. Bread soaked up so much sauce. The money sauce was great! Loved it. Problems with ordering: need a bigger menu or bigger writing. Person taking orders needs to speak louder or use a microphone. Couldn't hear anything over the music. The biggest con: They have heat levels. But anything above medium+ cost $1 extra and they don't tell you. I saw it pop up when he rang me up and I declined. I took medium +. What we didn't know is that the gay men's choir had shown up, after their practice, to have a few drinks and dominate the mic. We ordered a ton of bar food and loved everything.
