I rarely leave negative reviews, but our experience at Tom's Bar was extremely disappointing. We made reservations well in advance, paid ahead of time, and even arrived more than an hour early. We were third in line for the reservation queue, so we expected that arriving early would help us get decent seating. When general admission opened, we even offered to give up our reserved seats and move into the general admission section instead. Came today for the World Cup Final, and barely made it to a bar spot as we did walk-in, not reservations. Love the drinks, love the electric vibe. When we arrived, 30 minutes before the USA played in the World Cup. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There was already a line to get in, but there was plenty of seating. They had 2 lines to get in, the VIP line and the regular line. The line was super slow even with 3 hostesses. They were seating everyone so that is what took so much time. When we got to the front of the line they asked up if we had reservations. I had no idea that this was a reservation type of place. Next they informed us that there was a $20 cover fee. I think that is per group not per person, but I'm not really sure. For $20 we were ready to turn around and go home or to another place that didn't charge. We were totally shocked that there was an entrance fee. We had no idea that they would do something like that. We've been here once before for a Sunday NFL game and there was no cover charge. Thankfully the guy in front of us asked if it was free to sit at the outside bar and they said yes. Parking at the Downtown Commons (DOCO) typically costs $6.00 per hour, with every additional 20 minutes priced at $2.00, up to a $32.00 daily maximum. During peak events at the Golden 1 Center, flat event rates often apply, and nearby garages offer varying hourly or daily rates. It cost us $18 to park. It seems like you can park at the old Macy's parking lot for $15. That's so much a better deal, but it also seems sketchy. Is it legit or are people just collecting money due to it's an empty lot. I think the price of parking is really expensive. I think we should have walked as it was daylight going there and it would be daylight going home. In addition it wasn't too hot. So back to the $20 entrance fee. Knowing this I am hesitant to return. I do see the advantage of arriving early so you can get a seat outside so that isn't bad. I like this place - except for on big Football game days. I came on Sat Jan 17th at 5pm for the 49ers vs Seahawks game. I stood at the bar waiting just for some water and an ice tea for 40min. Didn't even get eye contact, greeted, or acknowledged or a we will be right with you. I mean I know they were busy AF - but there needs to be a better system. For water - maybe just having some self serve stations will help. It's a good spot for pre-Kings game gathering especially with the open patio right in front. Since Twin Peaks closed down, I heard this was a good option to watch the Super Bowl at. Despite getting there an hour and a half before the game started, there was a line at the door. I stood there waiting for at least 10 minutes-- mind you, on a bad leg. No idea why it was taking so long. When I finally got to the front, I asked if there was seating at the bar since I was by myself. They said I could only stand there to get drinks. What? I literally came here for the seating at the bar based off the pictures I had seen online where people were able to sit at... There was no seating available inside, so they said I could try my luck in the outdoor area. I walked to the outdoor area, but there were no tables available. I asked a random man if I could sit with him and luckily he gave me permission to. There were high top and standard tables out there. Unfortunately for me, the one I could sit at was a high top. The seat of the chairs looked like wicker, or something similar, but had no padding. They had plenty of TVs, so you could watch at any angle. There was no shade from the sun for the high tops, but there were a few large umbrellas for the standard tables. There were also no patio heaters available when it got chilly at night. I had to walk to the bar and ask for a menu. It was decent, but the selection was not as good as Twin Peaks, and nowhere near as many options as Yard House. I ordered chicken tenders and fries. They were delivered fairly quickly despite the place being so packed. The chicken tenders were flaky, crispy, and flavorful-- not like the ones you usually get at restaurants. The fries were okay. The ranch and blue cheese were good. The beer selection was lackluster. I asked for a cider, but the only thing they had available was Angry Orchard. The service was practically nonexistent. I had to wait at the bar and get their attention if I wanted to order, get a refill, or have the table cleared. The bartenders were friendly, though. The only waiters I saw were there to pass out jello shots and the servers seemed to prioritize the standard tables and indoor seating. Once the game started, there were so many people standing around the bar. People were constantly bumping into our table trying to get around those at the bar. The TV was super loud and located directly over my chair. We asked if they could turn the volume down, but they did not. When I went inside to use the restroom, there was puke at the entrance and paper towels scattered all over the floor. Living in Natomas,we forever had a local place we would watch UFC pay-per-view events.I would say around summer of last year i wanted to try out a new spot to watch UFC,so I decided to go downtown to DoCo and watch UFC at Tom's Watch Bar. So far I'd say I watched 3 or 4 events there and I can honestly say that my experiences there have been great-all of them. First off the environment for these UFC nights are always electric-tons of people,mostly people in age ranges between 20-40 but there are a few old heads like myself there as well checking out the fights.Most of the event nights I attended I showed up right as the main event was beginning so I'd say 90-95% of the tables were occupied.Ive been very lucky though every time because a very helpful hostess always found a great spot for my wife and I to enjoy the fights. We generally have stuck to beers on fight nights and they range from around $9-$11 for a 16 ounce and from $12-$14 for 23 ounce beer-pretty normal prices for the area. As far as food on all our visits the only thing we have ever gotten was the Ahi TunaTower($16.49).This is a favorite of ours-perfect food to munch on while in a festive mood-it's my Go-To food item here.I do see people ordering so many delicious looking items from burgers to nachos to various sandwiches and it all looks great,but I've only had the Ahi Tuna Tower. I know back in the day there used to be a $10 admission fee to get in here on UFC nights but they must've scrapped that because I've never had to pay anything since I started going there again for UFC. Parking is plentiful in the area with various street parking and the DoCo underground garage available,which does come with validation from Tom's if I remember correctly. My friend and I came here on my birthday (Mar 19) to watch NCAA basketball. It wasn't super busy when we arrived around 1 pm, and more people left after we arrived (maybe the lunch crowd). Christina was our bartender. While she was nice, she didn't check on us much. The bar back guy was more attentive, and it wasn't his job. My friend and I had to ask to water, more drinks, order food, etc. Christina walked by multiple times, but didn't ask us if we were ok. My sister worked with Ricardo Aidan and Zaria to get a birthday party planned at Tom's Watch Bar to celebrate her husband. They were all thorough to ensure the event went on without a hitch. I am so impressed with the amazing level of service we received. The serving staff was phenomenal. Especially tonight as Tom's Watch Bar hosted the Canelo vs Crawford fight and there was a concert at the Golden 1 Center. The inside was packed. So we opted to sit at the outside bar. There were plenty of seats at the bar, as well as tables on the outside. The only downside was there wasn't any heaters, but if you get seated from inside and sit outside, those tables do have heaters. They have all the liquor choices outside but only two beers on tap. My group and I stopped by before the Disturbed concert at Golden 1 Center next door. Unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to the atmosphere. The place was way too crowded when we went. It was so hot inside, it felt like the A/C just couldn't keep up. Sitting outside with the misters probably would've been the better move. Because it was packed, the service was very slow, like VERY SLOW. we waited quite a while for everything. They have a solid drink and beer selection, but the food left a lot to be desired. We tried the nachos, burgers, Jamaican wings, and dill pickle battered chicken tenders. Everyone in our group agreed the food was just okay. I was especially disappointed with the chicken tenders. 3 out of 5 were more batter than chicken, which was a letdown. Overall, I wouldn't recommend going here when there's a concert or game at Golden 1. It seems like the staff just can't keep up with the crowd. Maybe it's better on a regular night, but as far as pre-event spots go, this one didn't hit the mark. read more

Perfect place to eat after the King's game. The carne asada tacos were delicious. They don't taste like the traditional street tacos, but still flavorful. The mac n cheese was good but kinda tasted like Velveeta. I recommend the watermelon margarita. The service was great as well. Overall we had a great experience. read more

I went to the World Cup Watch Party. Myself and 3 others did the VIP reservation. When we showed up there was a line wrapped around the restaurant. We were thinking uh-oh, what did we get ourselves into. There were actually 3 lines formed, 1 for VIP, 1 for standard reservations, and 1 for none reservations. The VIP line wasn't long and we got seated within 5 mins or less. Najee was our server. He was by far the best server I've had in YEARS! We ordered drinks and food. My glass was never empty and we felt he was extremely attentive. There was 1 time a group of tall individuals stood in front of our seats blocking the tv view because they were trying to order and they were immediately asked to stand to the side of the bar to be taken care of. I forgot to take pictures of the food but we had the calamari, fried pickles, Ahi Poke Nachos, Buffalo Wings, Lemon pepper wings, and various types of drinks. Tom's is a great place to watch any sporting event! It is a mix between a sports bar and a nightclub. It can get very loud in the restaurant, so if you're looking for something intimate or a place to hold a quiet conversation, this is not your place. Once you adapt to the loud environment and you flag down your waiter or waitress, you won't be disappointed by the food. The food is really good! The French dip is in a league of its own. Fantastic!! My husband loves their wings and my little man loves their Mac and cheese with bacon. Although the wait staff is very friendly and nice, I'm giving 4 stars because of the spotty service.
