First time here and after reading the reviews I was kind of nervous because there's a mix of good and bad. We gad a great experience! Myself and a couple girlfriends went to Oakland University so we're always trying new restaurants in downtown Rochester and finally made it here! It was a Saturday night (around 8:30pm) and only had to wait about 5 minutes for a table! Service was great the whole time! We started with drinks- Main Squeeze, Fire N Ice, and White Sangria. All delicious! We got the chips and salsa to start. Salsa was really good and came with the perfect amount of chips! Some restaurants give you a mountain of chips that you keep eating and are too full to ear your dinner. But this was the perfect amount for the 3 of us and still had some salsa left over! For dinner I ordered the Ruggirello pizza, which was delicious! My friends ordered the salmon sandwich and the chicken sandwich, both said they were a little spicy but really good and they could handle the heat! We were all very pleased with our meals! And as I said before, the service was great! Our waitress cane multiple time to check on us and refill waters. The food took about 15ish minutes to come out but I understand that because it was a bit busy. No complaints here! read more

This review is about the execution of the food & horribly boring menu, not the service. I've been here many times. Love the layout, open windows, and vibe. When they first opened, the menu had holes but was interesting, offering a few pastas, 1 burger, pizzas, & some small plates. Now the menu is mostly chicken fingers, nachos, cheese sticks, Spaghetti & meatballs, Quesadilla, etc.. I've never had the pizza here... First the burger (TRL) Restaurant 101. This burger was worse then when we are in the middle of nowhere... We ordered 2, one single & one double. Both had bottom buns that were unmanagable (soaked) to pick up. Let the meat rest while not on the bun, and purchase a better bun. They served both burgers like you're @ Fuddruckers. Everything on the side for you to build. No one does this anymore. The double was just 2 beef patty's stacked. When you serve a double, you can't use the same patty you'd use for a single... We've had dozens of burgers around Metro Detroit that were excellent. This was delinquent, unimaginative, and sad. Calamari. We love it everywhere. None of us liked this recipe. The Teriyaki glazed salmon sandwich. The thick glaze was applied before cooking. Really? It came with the glaze charred black with a delightful tinge of burnt flavor with every bite. We scraped it off, so our son could eat it. We didn't complain because we were with our kids and always try and set the example of not complaining about food in front of them. We did discuss after that we won't be back for dinner. read more

Food is decent. The service lately is horrible. I get that restaurants are struggling to get staff but literally these people could not care less about customer service. We moved tables..... and they delivered our food to the empty table that we were no longer sitting at. read more

I'm not one to leave many negative reviews but in this case I just had to. First time and I sat at the bar. While the staff I did speak to was very friendly, i had to ask them for everything, they never once asked how I was doing. I sat for about 5 minutes and watched one of the bartenders walk by me three time before I was able to order. There were only a few people at the bar and never less then two bartenders behind the bar so they weren't being overwhelmed. I ordered the chili. DO NOT ORDER THE CHILI. It was watery and unusual. When it arrived I asked to confirm that it was indeed the chili because it looked like minestrone (which is also on the menu) and they assured me it was. It tasted like minestrone with chili pepper and brisket added. Based on the chili I decided not to order any other food. I asked for the check with half a beer and a full bowl of chili in front of me and again watched the staff walk by me multiple times before having to flag someone down to ask for the bill. Not once did anyone ask me if the chili was good or wondered why I was leaving a full dish behind. Great atmosphere but wouldn't recommend it unless you're patient and just want to drink. read more

We came in the first night of the government allowed reopened and was quite surprised! All the food we got was soooo good, came out quickly, and served hot and fresh. The service was also great. This a great spot in downtown Rochester for a drink and some good bar type food! I am for sure coming here again and recommending others to stop in that are looking for good late night food! read more

We decided to try Tooraloo and were disappointed. The Angus brisket was fatty and what wasn't fatty was chewy. We had the chicken fingers and once you cut into the 2 inch thick breading, not much to enjoy.. I gave a 2 because the beer was cold and the waitress was nice. So let me be clear. I was in this bar for 5 minutes, maybe less. But since I'm not one to be a complete ass and give a really low rating based on one experience, I gave it a 3 to be fair. However, the reason I am posting this is because they did something that I do not feel should ever be done at a restaurant and I did feel the need to say something. It was during the weekend of the Kris Kringle Market, so it was obviously packed everywhere. Waiting until a later hour to eat dinner in hopes of getting a seat somewhat quickly, we waited until 8:45pm to try and get a table. We went to Penny Black first and they said it would be an hour wait but that more than likely it would be less than that (which is standard). We put our names in and walked over to Too Ra Loo to see if it would be any shorter of a wait. As I looked inside, it certainly looked like a shorter wait since they were no where near as busy as Penny Black. But a funny thing happened as the people in front of us chatted with the hostess: money exchanged hands from the customers to the hostess and in that quick instant, they were taken to their seats. Me being slightly naive at this point didn't put 2 + 2 together. I asked for a table for two, with a good feeling that we'd be able to sit at a table right away. A) the place was mildly busy but very open so it didn't look that busy and B) the people in front of us were seated right away. No, two hour wait was what we were told. I thought I heard incorrectly and asked again, but she did in fact say a 2 hour wait. I declined. I won't be accusatory since I did not hear the exchange between the customers in front of us and the hostess. Good friends who made a bet that they were paying up on? A bribe to get a seat? Who am I to say?! You make the call. Because either/or, I can't figure out how it possibly could have been 2 hours based on the crowd that I saw. My friend swears by the place saying it's got great food. So I am curious and will check it out. And at that time I will make a more informed, well rounded review. I'm not going to let one hostess stop me from trying a new place that has been recommended to me. Se we'll see... Update: Feb 2018. Did finally get here to eat and drink. I'll keep the same rating. Nothing wrong with this place, everything was good. Not great, but good. I tried the bacon and syrup that is on their menu and without asking, it came to me very crispy. That was a plus, but eating it I expected more. Nothing wrong with it, mind you, but it looked delicious and it was just good. They had chips and white cheddar that I also tried but I was not all that happy with the chips themselves. They did give a generous portion though, I will say that. Service was a little on the slow side for how few people there were, but again, she still did a good job. A good enough beer selection too. So everything was good. Considering the other choices in the area though, I probably wouldn't go back. read more

My wife and I went to Too Ra Loo the other night. Waited way too long for someone to take our drink order. The bartender walked by us four times without even saying hello. Finally a different bartender, a girl took our drink order, and disappeared After delivering our drinks. 40 minutes later, no One returned it to ask if we wanted a menu, or another drink, or a needed anything. Couldn't get another drink. Finally I decided to leave put money on the bar the waitress took it and never returned with change. The bar was not that busy, we felt ignored. We didn't even talk to any of the staff, They weren't around long enough to even say anything. We go there several times a month, but we will reconsider going there after this. This was probably the worst bar i have ever went to. Me and my boyfriend ordered a bbq chicken pizza and it tasted like cardboard. The waitress never refilled our drinks and was never there. We waited about 20 min to order because our waitress was no where to be found. The manager that was an older man didn't even say I'm sorry about the pizza or anything he just took the pizza and walked away. Literally the worst bar i have ever been to. read more

We were delighted to celebrate our friend, Jamie, with cocktails and appetizers at Tooraloo. The food and the fellowship were lovely however it was the personal and professional customer service by our attendant, Ken, that made the difference. I had the pleasure of dining with Tooraloo earlier in the week, outside on the patio, to celebrate my birthday. We were blessed with Ken and his authentic and sincere skills in customer service. Customer service can make or break a dining experience. Ken is a keeper. I like the ambience of this place in the summer/early fall with the open walls out onto Main Street, but that was about all I liked. The service was pretty slow and not very friendly. When you're sitting up at a bar you expect a little bit of genuine connection and that was not to be found. We ordered food and it took forever to be delivered. We were one of maybe 8 people in the whole place. The pizza was really greasy and flavorless. I'm a pizza fanatic - so when I see artisan style pizzas being served somewhere I will always see what they are about. This place was disappointing. Prices were nothing special and the bartender didn't seem educated on the more obscure craft offerings. Most likely won't go out of my way to return. read more

The place has a nice vibe and good decor. We came in during happy hour, and the crowd trended heavily towards middle aged adults, with a smattering of families having dinner. It took about 5 minutes of sitting at the bar before someone came around to get us menus, and then as soon as one bartender walked away to get the menus, another came up to ask if we'd been helped. We ordered two drinks off the cocktails menu, which did not have prices on it. I can get over that, but be aware. The drinks were ok, nothing to write home about. Each cocktail was $8.25, with a dollar taken off for happy hour. We didn't have food here, but the menu looked like your standard new American fare with some Italian tendancies. Bottom line: you could do better, especially in an area like Rochester. However, it could also be a lot worse. read more

Total disappointment. If I could, I would not give any stars to this place based on management/owner and not the food because I never got to enjoy anything there. I was excited to finally try this local restaurant, but unfortunately my food did not come out the way I had ordered. After the second round of trying to get my food, the manager came to me. She was very impolite and did not even address my problem. Eventually she just walked away rudely without any resolution or satisfaction for her customer. The waiter was actually understanding and very polite by saying he was sorry many times even though it was not his fault and had nothing to do with this situation. I applaud this young man for his efforts in trying to help me. I will never go back to this horrible place even though I don't even know what the food tastes like. read more

This place was fun! I liked it! I stopped in for happy hour with my friend and had a few drinks and a chicken nacho. We ordered the martini of the day, which was the 'blue' martini. However when she set it down on the bar it was green, so go figure..?? And I have no idea what flavor it was supposed to be. Sweet!?? Lol. I would probably not order a martini here again. But then I ordered the house white wine and it was good. The nachos were also very good. The bar itself is really nice. However I can't give Too La Too above two stars for a single reason - the lead female bartender was awful. She was rude, inattentive, and only spoke to selected customers (if she wasn't on her phone). At a point when I did get her attention I ordered a drink which was never received. If it wasn't for the other bartender hustling we would've walked out. No customer enjoys feeling like they obligating a restaurant with their presence. Don't hire a black hole that sucks all the energy from the room as your bartender. I'd rather be served Negronis by Freddy Kruger. read more

And with a couple of exceptions is staffed by relatively under skilled servers who seemingly don't know how to manage the clientele. I'll preface this by saying I will try them again, but I won't sit at the bar ever again. Came in, busy Wednesday night, grabbed a couple seats at the bar for myself and my wife. I dig the atmosphere, although it's a bit too loud for what it's going for. They have high ceilings and could do with a couple dampening panels. Anyways, beer selection is pretty good, about average for the area (there are some local heavy hitters - clubhouse BFD, Rochester tap room, brown iron brewhouse - that make beer selection a competition.) Ordered wings with dry rub, pretty good appetizer. Then the bartender made one mistake which cascaded into several mistakes. My wife ordered a dinner salad and I did as well - I ordered the Asian salad with salmon. They bring me a totally different salad, but get my wife's order right. I let the bartender know that I hate to be a pain, but there was a mistake made. She takes the plate, walks off, comes back and says "it'll be right out." They then run a 30 minute ticket time on a salad reorder, we actually kept track. My wife is long done with her meal when mine finally arrives. The bartender never apologizes, doesn't keep us updated, and in fact never stops by again before the food is out. On top of that, she asks if we want to stay for more drinks on the house, but our parking meter is running out and we need to leave. We get the bill, not only did they not make good on covering a round for our inconvenience, they also charge me for the first salad (the mistake!) We bring it to her attention and she removes the salad and "have a nice night." The food was good enough that we'll try again, but awful service. read more

My wife and I came here for dinner on a Saturday night. While waiting for our table the service at the bar was fast and friendly. After being seated at our table the server (Lauren) promptly greeted us and asked if we would like an appetizer. She was enthusiastic and positive. Lauren made a recommendation and it arrived within minutes. The entrees were outstanding. I had the not carbonara pasta and my wife had the salmon. The dessert was ice cream puffs with gelato. Drinks were ok. Food was rough. Give it some more time if you are going there to eat. They need to hire a chef. Great location. Hope they figure it out. If they don't improve the food it won't last. So tried this place again after several months of their being open. They have listened to their critics and are trying to better the establishment. With that being said the place still needs some work. The food is much better. Not gourmet but still a decent meal. The atmosphere was a bit loud for me (personal opinion) but it gave off a fun, lively vibe. The major downside this visit was the fact that our waitress basically said " if you are done -leave". I understand that other customers are waiting to be seated but if I still have food/drink perhaps give me a few to finish up. Not a place to linger over drinks and enjoy a conversation. Will go again but this time knowing it's for a burger & beer and not for meal with friends who want to catch up. read more

I know this place is new but it took 25 minutes for a server to great us at our table once seated. So many employees walk by hoping to not make eye contact with any customers it is sad. The manager walks around acting like the place is running like a well-oiled machine ad is happy now bc the place is popular bc it's new. Well....it will stay full for awhile...BUT once this new place isn't so new it better fix the many things it has wrong with it. Food is way overpriced, quality isn't there too. What is this bar/restaurant trying to be? A 3rd sports bar, a 3rd fancy menu eatery and a 3rd craft beer bar?!?! Doesn't work like that! We came here to eat dinner and sat at the bar. Good beer selection. We weren't impressed by the very limited menu, so we decided to order some appetizers and then decide on entrees later. We ordered 3 appetizers between 4 people. Mussels Brussels Skinny Fries. The Mussels and Brussels were both cold to the touch. Refrigerator cold. We sent them back. They came again. Brussels were still cool. Mussels were warm and in a nice coconut curry sauce..... But no bread and no spoons. In summary the wait service and bar staff were awesome. Our new FAVORITE spot!! Great atmosphere, always warm and cozy. Usually pleasant music and sound level. We enjoy sitting at the bar. Bartenders are efficient and polite. Food is very good, but a tad on the pricey side!! We have tried everything!! We would like to see daily specials for a change from the regular menu. Lunchtime experience, do not be misled by the name, All American fare here. Saturday later than noon lunch on a chilly day found a light crowd out and about. Regardless, we were seated quickly, and lavished with attention by our server Lydia (not Groucho's Marx's song tribute to a tattooed Lydia, a walking, decorated human encyclopedia). Being light eaters, we skipped the apps and went straight to the lunch specials. Chicken Chili, heavy on the chicken, nicely spiced, and a minimum of navy bean, very nice. Added a small Grizzly pizza with a curiously oily bottom, sopped up with napkins. BLAT sandwich on flat bread( you can swap bread) was excellent. Salmon sammich exceeded expectations, topped off by lovely, crisp truffle fries. Will revisit, make it your stop in Downtown Rochester. read more

Came in early noon on June 28th. Despite coming in at night with the crowd and bad service numerous times, I decided to give this place another try during lunch while they're slow. My boyfriend and I wanted a bite to eat before heading off to work (we both work in the service industry). Our bartender, even after knowing we had no clue about their menu offered no help to guide us through it and came up to us two different times pushing us to order when we were clearly not ready to order yet. After we finally order, she walks by us and did not offer my boyfriend another beer when he had not even a sip left of it and went to sit down at the bar again. We were served our food by another employee we had not seen before while our bartender sat across the bar from us on her phone. During our visit here we had seen her sitting across from us at the bar on her phone AT LEAST 6-7 times. Again, against my own judgement and reviews from my own customers about the bad service from this place I decided to give it another shot and was disappointed about the outcome. I'm sure management could easily go back on their cameras and check how many times the bartender was sitting down on her phone. Super displeased and will not be back. Ps. Johnny P pizza is awesome! Atmosphere is nice. Especially on warm nights/ days when the windows are open. The honey blood orange beer is my favorite! The reason why I only gave it 3 stars is because you do sit long periods of time at the bar with an empty drink or to be served in the first place and because all other dishes I've had here Id never order again. read more

Great beer selection with an average happy hour at best. I recommend this place for the excellent variety of tap beers that is probably the best in Rochester. This is the highpoint. The menu isn't bad and the food is above average for a bar environment. Overall, for beers and a decent meal give this place a chance... The service is mediocre. The only time I saw the staff smile was when they were obviously sucking up to their manager. The staff seemed to follow her around like an entourage while they neglected the rest of us. I would say this place is at 3.5we waited about 45 minutes on a Thursday night to be seated. Lots of beers to choose from but we couldn't figure out the theme in this place. Brewery/bar but with a very fancy and pricey menu that does not seem to match the vibe inside. We ordered the Johnny P and the Spartan pizza. Both were good, nothing spectacular but definitely good pizza. The pickle spears were decent. Nothing too special about this place but we enjoyed the view. read more

Newest bar in downtown Rochester and it was pretty great! The name will throw you off; it's not an Irish bar by any means but an all around American fare type spot with a great selection of taps and damn good food. I spent about seven hours here at the bar top, sampling beers and watching college football, amidst laughs and good commaderie. Service was on par, the audience was fun and not a bad thing to say about the experience. I had numerous types of beer, from my staple Miller Lite to All Day IPA to Roak Live Wire and they were all delicious. The highlight of the experience? The Lafayette pizza. Who didn't think that a coney dog pizza wasn't a great pairing? Sooo good! And the grilled wings to start is recommended. Plethora of tvs to watch almost any game except when new management takes over and plays Lifehouse over the sound system instead of the game but remedied upon asking. My only hang up was the prices. Between three guys we spent $160 on food and booze, but for Rochester it's probably common. $6 a beer will get you. Also got cashed out from a bartender that didn't end up leaving at all but I guess it helps to curb the spending. I highly recommend visiting this spot; just get there early and don't leave. Otherwise the wait will make you go elsewhere. All in all, a great experience and I'll be back soon! read more
