Breakfast with toddlers is less of a meal and more of a competitive sport. That's how we found ourselves at TooJay's Deli with our year and a half old grandsons. And right out of the gate, I'll say this place is very kid friendly. Because about ten minutes in, the boys began conducting what can only be described as a gravity experiment with anything within arm's reach. Our waitress handled it like a seasoned professional. Calm, patient, helpful, and completely unfazed as items occasionally achieved flight status. Her attitude alone set the tone for a really pleasant experience. Now the plot twist. The service was excellent. The food was... a little more complicated. My son and I started with the matzoh ball soup. It was good, but not quite in the same league as my wife's homemade version. The matzoh ball itself was dense, which I actually like. The broth, though, could have used a little more salt. Still good. Just not legendary. Meanwhile the boys were devouring pancakes with the focus of two tiny professional athletes. I didn't get a bite, but judging by the speed at which those pancakes disappeared, I'm comfortable saying they must have been very good. Then came my plate. Scrambled eggs with French fries and a bagel. Another small twist. The bagel was very good. The fries were cooked to absolute perfection. Crispy outside, fluffy inside. Exactly what you want. The eggs though? They told a different story. A basic breakfast staple that looked like they hit the pan at a little too much heat. Still edible, just not the soft scramble you hope for. My wife ordered the cheese blintzes and reported they were very good. My mom enjoyed her eggs as well, which added another small twist to the table conversation. Sometimes the food is the headliner. Sometimes the experience is. Today the grandsons and the waitress stole the show. Between the kid friendly atmosphere, the fantastic service, and some solid menu items, this visit lands at four stars. If three and a half stars existed, that might be the precise score for the food alone. But our waitress lifted the whole experience. And when you're dining with toddlers conducting airborne physics experiments, that kind of service deserves some extra credit. read more

Thought of trying a lunch meal from Toojay's. Seemed like I was on a roll when the Waiter offered the CHOOSE Too (a 1/2 portion salad) when I mentioned I'd be getting a soup, then a salad. I said the Cafe size portion salad would be "fine." I made one change to the salad saying I wanted mine No Onion. I was told "No Problem." I think I was also told "I gotcha'." The soup came out how I wanted it ... No Crackers and was nice and hot. When the salad came it had onions on it. I removed the onions at the table. The food tasted good and seemed like a healthier meal to get at a Deli. I finished all I wanted but the waiter was gone. I sat for a long time waiting for the waiter so I could get my check and pay as I did not expect to be trapped there so long when I needed to return to work. It was, after all, a week day. If you are looking for a deli with bakery items and sandwiches this is a perfect place to go. They have so many comfort type deli items that are unique to find. The matzoh ball soup is always my favorite with a potato knish and don't forget a corned beef sandwich plus a black and white cookie for dessert. Order ahead and pick up available to carry out or even order at counter. The cakes and desserts are so beautiful and delicious. Catering for parties or holidays is also available. The restaurant is spacious inside for the interior seating. The prices have gone up through the years like every place else. I do recommend this deli. read more

We like this particular location, (the manager has an extensive repertoire of Pirate Jokes), and there is ample parking for patrons. We've been here for lunch a few times and holiday celebrations. They have quite a large following for holiday meals and they staff up to handle the patrons quite efficiently. The food is good and they offer a large variety of deli foods and baked goods at reasonable prices. If you are in for lunch you can choose a Soup and Half sandwich combo. (I enjoy the Chicken noodle soup which is full of chicken!) read more

Coral Springs, Florida Toojays Does Not AnswerTheir Phone Calls December 2025 I tried calling the telephone number for Toojays at the coral springs location at university drive in Florida numerous times after 8am but no one answered each tome and .they all went to voice. They opened at 8am according to the hours posted on their website I wanted to place a pick up order for breakfast for 25 of my employees ! After 6 attempts to call with no answer, I placed my order with another business that was courteous and appreciated my business. Even if Toojays employees were busy you still need to answer the phone and acknowledge the person calling and put them on hold if absolutely necessary Toojays lost a big order and a customer due to their poor service!! TOOJAY's on The Walk at Coral Springs, REVISITED The other night, (thursday),I was too tired to cook but real hungry for some comfort food. That's TooJay's for me. What a disappointment: we've been watching it decline for awhile but the other night was a disaster. Let me state up front that the food was on point: the potato pancakes were light, crispy & delicious. However, only a dollop of sour cream and no applesauce. Hubs' hot pastrami on rye & coleslaw was delcious & my nova lox & everything bagel dish (but no capers) was to my taste, but... We arrived a bit before 6 and were done a bit before 9. 3 HOURS!! And, no, we didn't tarry or linger, the service was simply dismal. Only two guys were working the floor. It wasn't busy, no hostess, so we were told to pick a booth. Our waiter was fine. He was friendly and knew what he was doing. It was slow, but we got our drinks right away so, after a hectic, high-pressure day on the job, I was happy to kick back & relax... & relax... & relax... Two younger girls were manning the bakery & takeout counter. They were nice enough & seemed very sweet... So I have no idea why the other guy on the floor (head waiter? manager?) was hollering at them so bad it semed one of the girls ran into the back, crying. Hubs & I were embarrassed for them. Poor things. Then the bulvon* fussed and fumed for the rest of the evening. He had lungs like furnace bellows! I had half my platter left and wanted to take it home for breakfast the next morning. Our waiter went to get a box for me & Mr. Bulvon practically ripped the regular to-go box out of our waiter's hand, admonishing him clearly, and handed him a small burger box. I pretended not to see the unpleasant exchange. Our waiter asked if I wanted a bigger box but I accepted the small burger box & put my food in that. I slipped our waiter a Jackson & we left. Plenty of other deli's around: Pomperdale's and Pickle Barrel being just a couple. Sad for TooJay's Coral Springs decline. It was our go-to deli for a long time *A bulvon is insensitive, uncultured, unrefined, thick-headed, and brutish - but that may be simply due to an inherent stupidity. read more

This was my first time at Toojay's and I must say how happy we were to come here. I have heard about this place for many years and finally had the opportunity to dine here. This location is located in a big shopping center that is veery easy yo access and park in. You walk into a large bright "bakery/deli area and I was immediately impressed... There is some really good looking food / desserts here. We were a group of seven and were immediately brought to our seats. Our 'very friendly-happy-helpful' server came over with some silverware, water and menus. I am sorry that I did not get his name but he definitely added to the great experience here. We started off with an appetizer of mini potato-pancakes and immediately knew that we were in for a treat. THe ordering was easy as many of us shared our food: Corned Beef Sandwich Pastrami Sandwich Brisket Sandwich Roast Beef Sandwich (on Ciabatta roll, not rye. Some french fries and potato knishes Everything was great. All meats were lean and tasty. Sandwiches were nicely made with plenty of meat. All sides were good too. I forgot all about leaving a review for this place. I went there about a month ago with a bunch of friends and family.. I know everyone liked what they had. As far as for me. I opted to have lunch instead of breakfast like everyone else. I went for pastrami on rye bread with a pickle and a side of potato salad. The pickle was just okay. The potato salad was good. The pastrami was really good, but it could of used more mustard. It wasn't very busy at the time we went there. Now, our server was excellent. She was right on target with everything. My wife and I went to TooJay's for thanksgiving dinner ....early! We didn't have a reservation but the manager found room for us. The baked salmon was as always scrumptious. Tossed salads made the good way, with romaine lettuce. My wife's brisket was melt-in-your-mouth. Came in at 11:40 AM, took 10 minutes for anybody to acknowledge and then said: "someone will be right with you." (There was 10 people behind me). The place maybe had 8 people sitting already and about 4 waitresses. Finally sat down, ordered food(just my son and I) People behind me got their food before us(they came in after us) Same people behind us finished their food. (We still didn't get our food.) I asked for the manager which was apologetic and so was the waitress. They said they were getting my food now... took another 10 minutes. (Manager said she had just finished cooking it) I asked for apple juice and French fries for my son.... Never received it. Manager said she would give me a discount(I never asked for it.) Discount was $7.25(20%) of the bill. To get the bill took another 10 minutes. I'm paying the whole bill. Didn't need the discount. PLEASE think twice before coming into this place. Staff is wonderful and respectful... but the service overall is completely unacceptable. If I could give it a zero or negative. I definitely would. read more

We decided on this place as a last minute idea. It was decorated very nice for both Hanukkah and Christmas. I appreciated that. They were understaffed. We stopped in here for lunch as we were passing nearby. I'm so glad we did as we had a very good experience. We were seated right away in a booth. We were greeted by our server who got our drink order pdq. We both chose their soup and half sandwich combo. The menu is quite large -- from salad to desserts. I got a cup of the matza ball soup and he got chicken noodle soup. The base broth was delicious. Each of our soups were chock full of carrots, chicken and celery. His soup cup was overflowing with noodles and mine had a perfectly done matza ball with dill. We both thought it was one of the better soups we'd had in a restaurant in a long time. He had chopped liver on rye for his half sandwich and I had a hot pastrami half. The rye bread was a little bit soft in the center for me, but still decent. I liked my pastrami, however, as well. The sandwiches came with coleslaw and a small dill pickle. He liked both. I prefer half sours... You pay your server at your table. All orders and payments are made using point of sale iPads. The staff was really very friendly. Our server was efficient as well. The manager stopped by to check everything was okay. And I had a nice chat with the hostess, even, while deciding what to get at the deli/pastry counter. We also bought some pastry on the way out of the restaurant to try at home. Good flavorful food is sort of a common thing in South Florida, but when you match EXCELLENT food with some quality service, it is something refreshing that should be commended. My girl had a craving for some potato pancakes and the front of house worker ANGIEEEEEE was very very bright and pleasant to speak with. Definitely made a couple new fans off the welcoming vibe alone, we look forward to getting into this meal as well as returning to try everything else in due time. :) The bowtie cookies were delicious as well. The cakes when fresh are spongy the slices I got were dense. I'm saddened because Toojays is my son and my favorite restauran but I understand why so many are closing. Usually I don't leave reviews but in this instance I feel it is necessary. A friend and I ordered a brisket sandwich each. The sandwich was small and the meat was nearly inedible; fatty and virtually impossible to chew. It was akin to very tough shoe leather. Additionally the stingy portions of Cole slaw and French fries with a small half slice of a pickle which saw better days just adds injury to insult. If you are on an extreme diet this might be the place to go since the combination of small portions and poor quality grub will be an added advantage if you wish to lose weight quickly. I really don't understand the low reviews. This is a place for all the snowbirds or transplants from NYC, is it Katz ? No but then again bagels are the same here as in NY. It is the closest you can get to a Jewish delicatessen here in Florida. I like it because they spotlight latkes and have a different variation not just the OG version. The pastrami sandwich is good and I have zero complaints. The food came out on time and the server is nice as well. So I think they deserve a lot more 5 stars tbh. read more

I've been here for sit-down and I've gotten takeout for over 10 years here, probably 25+ times, and they're super consistent. They're not 5 stars but it's more than 4. And for them to have only a 3 star rating should be balanced out a little bit and rounded up. They're consistent in two major things, quality and service. Yeah, the price is going up but it is everywhere. Everything is fresh, and in my last visit the fruit especially stood out. Not over or under ripened, it was delicious. I've had many different sandwiches and soups from them and they're all quality, and they give you plenty to fill you up. I think this was my first omelette from them and it was big enough to get a to-go box. For $14 they certainly made a profit but I certainly enjoyed it, definitely a win-win. (I think this was their most expensive omelette). Either way Phillip was our server and props to him- he knew the menu inside and out and was super personable. One of the better waiters we've had in a long time. I'll be back for sure. Its a shame a lot of reviews and tips are on the lower end. It seems they attract a crowd that is hard to please. read more
