The lady sitting directly behind the one that was actually helping me decided to INTERRUPT in and say she can't give me the price until the procedure was done at that point I felt like she was using her power and shut me down immediately. Instead I got another copy of the bill and a passive aggressive answer on why they did not have to tell me prior to my appointments. Any business that takes your insurance prior to appointment but doesn't tell you that you are not in-network is more about the money than the customer.

So I switched to Battle Ground Smiles and they haven't recommended any additional work (even though that's where they could make the most money I'm sure). My recent visit showed some dark areas which I'm sure my former dentist would say needed to be drilled and filled but BG Smiles dentist said they would look at it again in 6 months and in the meantime if I flossed that area really well further work might not be necessary. I really appreciate that they don't over-prescribe dental work and so anything they do recommend I'm sure is really necessary.

And they brushed it off without even offering to take a look. Saying "keep trying". "You can come in but there is nothing we can do about it." After being persistent on having the teeth looked at we finally came in. They told us that it would be a charge for an exam and possibly x-ray. Finally Dr Jensen looked at the teeth and had to drill to fix the issue. Jensen never apologized and didn't take any responsibility and kept blaming his staff for misrepresenting him.

Dr. Kevin Low at Above & Beyond Dentistry was recommended to me. At first I couldn't imagine going all the way to Battle Ground from Portland "just for the dentist," but since I needed some work done and I hadn't gotten any other recommendations AND I got a same day appointment, I decided to go. Boy, was I in for a surprise. I had the most comprehensive exam and cleaning EVER. He and my hygienist went over every possible issue with my teeth, and mouth, and were careful to explain things to me as they went along. He asked me questions and listened to my answers, then prescribed a treatment course that makes sense for me. As I was leaving I scheduled my next appointment for a partial crown ( I didn't even know you could have a partial!) with his friendly and helpful front desk staff. So yes, it IS worth it for me to drive all the way to Battle Ground for my dentist.
