My dog was boarded here for 8 days due to an extensive business travel. When scheduling his stay I requested an exit bath as I always do because who wants to pick up their pet from an extensive stay without a bath. When I arrived to take him home the lady in the front office said " he wouldn't let us give him his exit bath". I said why because he gets an exit bath after every stay so why not today? She said the reason wasn't noted. I went to the back to get him from the executive suite and he was very anxious and timid. As I was walking him to my truck I noticed he had sores on both of his ears. I told the lady in the front office and she said " it's probably because of the flies, they get bad this time of year and I've noticed a lot around here lately, or he's been rubbing his ears on the gate, but if you wash him real good and put Neosporin on it, it'll get better in about a week". So basically I had to give my dog a bath and treat new wounds and anxiety issues that he didn't have when I dropped him off. I've been coming here for a few years and as a valued customer no one offered me any service recovery- just excuses! Don't bring your pets here if you want them to be comfortable and in the same mental and physical condition as they were when you dropped them off. read more

I brought my dog here for boarding for a long weekend. Dropping her off we walked to the back and she was cowering while I tried to get her to get into her "townhouse." Which was a large kennel size indoor area and an outdoor run. (I thought it would have a camera, I was mistaken) I considered taking her home and finding something else last minute, but we really didn't have time before our flight. I left her and had no idea how she was doing. Like I said no camera no update from staff nothing. Which would be fine if that's how you treat your pets. But my pets are my children. Upon pick up I walked back to get her and all I could smell was feces (maybe they didn't clean up yet). The lady at the front desk gave me a tag to give to the guy that would take me back. I walked straight to my dog and he kept walking to another dog. (Like he didn't know which was mine). I took her out of the crate and once outside she immediately dragged me to a patch of grass to pee and poop. I realized that she only got 30 minutes in the "play yard" and so she most likely was holding her pee and poop until then. If I left her for more than a long weekend I'm sure she would have learned to pee and poop on cement because she didn't have access to grass at all while in her "townhouse." My dog herself smelled like shit and we had to take her to get a bath before bringing her home. I won't be brining her back. Decent place if you're animals aren't your kids like mine is to me. read more

It's never easy when you lose a family member, and that's what Lucky was to us. Found on the highway, the last thing I wanted that day was another dog, another responsibility or something else to take care of. But this dog quickly made his way into our hearts, and over the years the compassion of that one day rewarded our family 1000 times over. It was hard to say goodbye, and Henry, the Cemetery Director at Toothacres, certainly made it easier for us. He helped us through the process, explained everything thoroughly and let us know our options. He greeted us on the day of the burial and everything went almost as discussed. You can imagine that at a time like this it is easy to be persuaded. We were impressed that Henry never once tried to up-sell us, on anything. On Sunday my 17 year old Chihuahua passed away at home and I was devastated being new to the area I didn't know what to do after calling around a few places I left a message at toothacres. I received a return call before they closed around 5:00 p.m. and they close at 6:00 Brian was very calming he gave me the information I needed let me know that they would be closing at 6:00 but told me that they're open every day so we could bring her by the following day if we couldn't make it we were able to make it before closing and I was devastated at losing Lola but Brian had a very calming effect the grounds were beautiful I chose the least expensive package because financially I had just moved States and I wasn't able to afford anything greater but we will be picking her ashes up on Friday to spread them at the park and have a picnic and I don't know what I would have done if I had not found this place and Brian had not been there to help me so I just wanted to recommend them with a million stars if I could because my dogs are my babies and I couldn't imagine leaving her with someone that didn't have that calming effect I watch too many scary movies so I imagine people at a crematorium and a cemetery to be creepy but that was not the case here it was as good of an experience as as you could have when it being such a terrible day so thank you Brian thank you toothacres read more

Toothacres was recently a great friend to us when it was time to cremate our pooch. We have enjoyed their dog boarding as well and were long time customers. Let me tell you a story I wish I didn't have to tell. I had to euthanize my 10 year old dog who I've had since he was 8 weeks old. He was the first dog I've ever had to euthanize so I was new to this process. My vet uses Toothacres and we didn't question it. We opted to get a paw print in memory. Two weeks went by and still no paw print. My vet said they thought it was odd since it usually didn't take this long. One morning I received a call from my vet notifying me that Toothacres had lost the paw print and it was nowhere to be found. I was in shock. Utter. Shock. How could this happen? I thought it was strange my vet was calling me and not Toothacres. Since they were the ones who messed up, you would think they would own up to it and make the call themselves. So, I called them. I spoke to the general manager of the facility. I told him what my vet had told me and asked them how this happened. I wanted to hear it for myself. He was curt and very matter-of-fact. He had no sympathy. While he did apologize, it was very much with the tone of "it happened, what are you going to do? Get over it". I wasn't rude on the phone, I was very level headed. I just wanted to know how something like this could possibly happen. He told me in all likelihood, the paw print fell out of the delivery truck. He said he would personally search the truck himself and give me a call back in 2 days. Twenty minutes later, he called back. He told me he found the paw print behind some table. ... .... ...... are you serious. While I was happy the paw print was found, it had been over two weeks. The moment I call, it suddenly appears? How convenient. He drove the paw print over to my vet and I picked it up the next morning. The paw print itself was a disappointment. It had very obvious fingerprints on it, the back was dirty, and the print itself was not done very well. I've made better paw prints than this one. The lettering with his name was done as if a kid did it during their school project. They never refunded the money. You would think after all this the least they would do is refund the cost. It honestly wasn't even that much money, but it's the principle of the matter. I would never. EVER. in a million years allow any of my other dogs to go through this facility. You could not pay me enough to allow my dogs to be cremated here. read more

The owner of this place, I used to do his dry cleaning but he passed away. My dearest condolences. My baby Remy passed away April 7th and this place was recommended by a vet clinic. It was near us and located in a spacious, land area. The place is cute and homey. The building (house) smelt good as you walked in very clean. I didnt feel like I was walking to a dirty or "run down" facility. I wouldnt have known they even had dogs, it smelt that fresh! We decided to get my dog cremated. We chose their Premium Oak wood Urn, I believe thats what it was. You send them a photo & tell them what youd like engraved. I sent them a photo and on my first email I put his birthdate wrong, it was suppose to be 2004 not 2008 but then I sent a 2nd email with correct dates and even called to confirm if they saw the error and they said Yes but my engrave says 2008 so I called in and they were sweet enough to have it fixed!! They genuinely care. Im so pleased! The oak wood feels very expensive and is well made. It came with a pouch to transport it in. The whole feel was nicely done. I wish the engraving was a bit larger though! The only real downside is they didnt call to tell us when it was ready (Idk if they do that or not?). We were told he'd be ready Saturday though, but a confirmation call wouldve been nice. My dad was waiting on call but I called and sure enough they had it finished on time so thats fine. Thanks for making our 1st pets' cremation special! They had so many options and choices even with burials it was lovely!!! I recommend this place. They dont just say "Heres a box." You choose how to personalize it and everything because of course, they're special!! read more

I like Toothacres but, when I picked up my dogs they were really dirty. I just don't think that's necessary. Their bedding was wet as well and who knows how long their bedding has been wet. They also did not have their bedding, it was wadded up on top of their kennel. I think they could do better at keeping the dogs and the bedding away from the water hose. The workers do not wear a mask. I did not feel comfortable going to get my dog with the person that escorts you to your dog. I did not feel comfortable in the office either where no one was wearing a mask there either. This is during a time when the Dallas county COVID-19 cases are above 1000 a day. I realize Toothacres is in Denton county but, they're only about what, a mile from Dallas County. You guys are a little on the expensive side so I expected a little bit more and the people that take your dog, are just young male adults. I'm sorry to say but, In my experience, young men do not always make the best decisions and they are the ones that are taking care of your furry children. Re: Coming inside would not change the fact that you should not spray down the kennel next door while my dogs or other dogs are in the kennel next door making them wet. With these 47 years of experience you talk about, one would think you would have figured that out already. Also, 47 years of collective experience does not make up for a 20-year-old male. Everyone knows young men do not make the best decisions all the time. I shouldn't have to ask you to put on a mask especially when it's a law and the 6 feet distance with the blue X is not 6 feet especially when I have to reach up to the counter to pay. Even a plexi glass on the counter would be better than what you're doing. The bedding, all dogs have wet feet when they go back in so you're telling me that all dogs bedding or on top of the kennel all day long instead of giving them something to lie on? If they were just damp then why would they be on top of the kennel? The bedding wasn't damp it was wet and so were the dogs. If you guys don't have the sense to fix all that stuff that I complained about then why am I going to go into your office and talk to a very young person behind the desk who doesn't give a flying bean about anything because if they did, things wouldn't be the way they are. If you want a good review then fix the things that people complain about instead of blaming the person complaining. It's not my responsibility to run your business. I'm also not gonna leave my dogs in a hot car to come inside. read more

I just put my dog down Friday, April 30th. I was able to pickup her ashes and everything ordered by Wednesday, May 5th. I was surprised at how efficient Toothacres is. It probably would've been even less time had she passed on a weekday instead of having to wait the weekend for her to be picked up. But regardless, I'm very impressed. I was able to go online to the Toothacres website and search for various mementos and her specific urn. Of which, they already had in stock at their facility. I was able to get her paw print stamped into clay and her urn with her ashes inside. They also went above and beyond and added a pin, a few letters and a Rosemary candle. Just to show how they were thinking of my pet and also myself in getting to honor her after her passing. All it took was a single phone call, and they answered very quickly. I called and said she was at the colony animal shelter and that she needed to be picked up from there and cremated. Very professional. Verified details over the phone and made all of the arrangements. It couldn't have been any easier. Thank you Toothacres, for taking pride in your work and taking care of my fur baby of 13 years. I had to euthanize my best friend/beloved dog Maria three weeks ago after 9 1/2 years of companionship. Toothacres was recommended by my Veterinary Hospital to handle her cremation. I received her remains back very promptly (less than a week), and the presentation was lovely and thoughtful. The redwood urn was high quality, and arrived wrapped in a velvet bag along with a sympathy card and a votive candle. I had emailed Toothacres a picture and an inscription for the engraved tag on the urn, and it was done exactly as requested. I also had them do a paw print, and am glad that I did, as it is a nice memento. If I ever have to utilize this type of service again I would not hesitate to use Toothacres. read more

Employees don't seem to care - "full service" bath means your wet dog will be placed in a kennel with a high velocity floor dryer blowing the dog dry. It was hard to find a place that I can trust to take care of my baby boy's passing. Most pet crematories around the area do not have a lot of reviews so I decided to give this place a shot out of convenience of location. I am happy with the way everything came out, especially with the urn and the keepsake paw print. Everything was beautifully packaged and I appreciate the effort they put into making it. The only downside was that over the phone, I requested the dates to be scripted onto the urn but it only had his name on it. Well, I was a little skeptical about this place. I know it's been around since 1849...seriously. But Hemingway is my *baby*, MY BABY. They keep the dogs in kennel runs. Nothing what Hemingway is accustomed to. I was so worried that when I dropped him off, I actually cried. Then, it hit me. Um, Hemingway is a dog. Not a real baby. The staff at Toothacres are meticulous and clean the runs, feed your dog to your specifications and even offer some perks for the dogs (time to run in the large areas, treats (or you can bring your own treats), they even offer web cams in some of the suites. Overall, a great place to board your doggie. They are not a daycare, nor do the mix the dogs together. read more

Wow! Finally a place that is priced reasonably and felt comfortable leaving my dog. I am tired of paying 30$+ for a night. Im from a small town in ohio and normally pay 20$/night. I've tried other boarding places and just haven't been to impressed with the service or the staff. I really liked that it is a family business, and that the family lives on the property. Also, that it was a large property and seemed very secure and away from the road. Felt very peaceful and quaint back there! I called ahead and made a reservation and was able to drop off my dog the same day. I REALLY liked that I could walk my dog back to her kennel and could see exactly where she would be. That just gave me a peace-of-mind. When I went to pick her up, I also walked back with the staff member and was allowed to put her leash on and everything. She was just laying there and was so happy to see me. I really liked that. It was the first place I was able to do that. She is a very timid dog around strangers so it was so perfect that they allow the owners back in the kennels. They also followed my feeding instructions perfectly because I purposely put extra food in the bag and measured it out so I would know if they followed them properly or not (the place I boarded her the weekend before did not follow my instructions). So I was very happy about that! She wasn't smelly like she gets from other places, and she didn't seem sick or anything like when she comes home from other places. We've used Toothacres for over 15 years, through 4 Dogs from young to senior and this place is fabulous! We chose them originally because we were very active in dog rescue and Toothacres was highly recommended by breeders and rescue workers alike. We deliberately "dropped by" to check the place out. It was clean, staff were professional, knew their jobs, and most important, they knew how to take care of various needs of pets. We've had probably 75 stays over the years and never had a major issue. Even with our old guys on multiple medications it's always been a great experience. When we had a family emergency and had to travel and were forced to leave our 14 year old ailing Golden, they went out and took his picture to make us feel better. Every time I board my three senior dogs I am continually pleased. Today I picked them up after a 7 day stay and found my Leroy happily barking outside in the indoor/outdoor run. My Chihuahua, Gracie, was snuggled on a cot with her blanket, and my 15-year-old Bichon, Niles, was in his comfy bed and a kennel worker had tucked him in with a fleece blanket on top. Boarding for so long was hard for me, but seeing how comfy they were when we returned helped so much. Toothacres is not fancy, but it is very clean and very well run by the family who has owned it for decades and the very caring staff. read more

All I got was, your dogs not here yet call back Friday, he might be ready then. Huh??? Didn't even really give me any idea as to how this process works. I called my vet and told them not to release my dog to them. I was so angry they even recommended this place to me. I found another place to go get him that actually seemed to care about my loss.
