I began my Invisalign treatment in October 2019 with a one year estimate, but here I am almost 2.5 years later trying to desperately complete it so that I never have to deal with Toothopia again. Ever since Dr. Luong left in early 2021, service and communication has been atrocious. The office never contacts me first. Every single update and appointment has been made only because I chase them down, which has delayed my treatment by at least 6 months. After waiting 2 months for my retainers, I had to text and call multiple times to receive a response. However, I discovered that they tried to give me a cheaper type of retainer ($300) instead of the Vivera that I had already purchased ($950). The receptionist was not forthcoming until I specifically asked, and only offered to remake them when I demanded it. Feels very much like a scam. Another month of radio silence passed before I reached out (multiple times again). Someone named Frankie finally called me back to say I had to come back in to get rescanned. Basically, they hadn't done a single thing to remake my retainers in the month that passed and if I hadn't followed up, they never would've done anything to fix it. I begrudgingly went into the office to get rescanned on 12/10 and they claimed my retainers would be ready the week after Christmas. Well, here we are 4 weeks after my scan and I'm still waiting for someone (anyone) to follow up. I've called multiple times, but the phone always goes to voicemail. I was able to leave one message before their mailbox maxed out. Doesn't seem like Toothopia is actively checking it. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 is because my initial treatment with Dr. Luong and her assistant Michelle were superb. Plus, I'm hoping that someone from Toothopia will see this review and hand over my retainers that I've paid for (fingers crossed they're actually the correct ones this time). I'll update this review once I'm in possession of my retainers and can put an end this orthodontic nightmare. ------2/3/22 UPDATE------ Kelly, the new office manager, reached out to me a few days after I posted this review and apologized. However, I found out that my retainers still weren't ready which probably meant someone dropped the ball again. I had to follow up a couple more times to finally receive my retainers two weeks later. No instructions given, but I'll take what I can get at this point. It's unfortunate that it took leaving a negative review to finally get Toothopia to pay attention. Two years and four months later, I'm done with my one year treatment! read more

I'll admit I got caught up in the look of their lovely office space and flashy website and booked an appointment here but I quickly found the quality of care to be severely lacking. Had I done my due diligence I would have found that Dr. Javid runs 5 other of these exact same cookie-cutter practices all throughout the South Bay, all seemingly with the same issues. I was skeptical when the dentist asserted that I had numerous dental problems that could only be fixed with expensive crowns. He tallied these line items for me as he coldly pointed at pictures on a large computer monitor without really explaining why I needed this work, just that he would do it. I felt that Dr Javid was simultaneously talking down to me and reciting a script, rather than providing real honest human care. And to cap it all off, the doctor and his staff never actually followed up with the breakdown of the proposed work, they just shuffled me out the door to get the next patient in. A second opinion confirmed my suspicions, that I had zero problems that needed fixing. I'm now starting to even question whether the pictures I looked at on Toothopia's computer monitor were even from my mouth! With all that said, I feel confident in my opinion that Dr. Javid is more interested in his bottom line than he is in your oral health. He absolutely spent more time writing lengthy responses to these honest Yelp reviews than he did in the room providing care to me. I might not have even written this review had I not seen the defensive tirades he wrote in response to other negative reviews, here and on all his other offices' Yelp pages. read more

I am not a local I live up in the SF bay, chipped my tooth bad playing around wrestling my homeboy, happened on a Friday night so had no idea what to do since I was visiting only for the weekend partying with my buddy for his bachelors. Luckily I was able to find these guys thanks to Dr. Smile, they were booked up but told me to call their other office which was toothtopia! Whole procedure took about 2-3 hours but I did not mind. Wow. Don't waste your time here. I can't seem to get anyone to answer the phone during their regularly posted business hours. I've tried all the numbers listed and their chat people are useless. My husband and I were seen as new patients and were scheduled for a full exam and cleaning. They took photos and X-rays first (typically that's done after the cleaning) and the doctor didn't even look in my mouth. He went through the photos and X-rays and suggested I get a few "possible" cavities filled, "but we won't know until I get a closer look." So why didn't you take a look? He also wants to replace my perfectly good fillings for some reason. This guy feels like a used car salesman trying to upsell you on procedures you don't need. Sure the staff is friendly and the cleaning was thorough, but that doesn't make up for the fact that I can't get any follow up from these people when I've made numerous requests via phone, chat, and email. Came here for my son's first dental visit. He is 14 months old with 12 teeth! So it was definitely time for a check up. Appointment: no hassle what so ever! And got a confirmation call a day before. The day of: The office isn't far from where I live so walking was a breeze for me. Dr. Chen and The receptionist/dental assistant Michelle were very friendly and welcoming! Filled out some paperwork and off for my son's check up. They have specific rooms for children and the Dr. Went through the process and asked if I had any concerns/questions. Went over home dental routines and all the eating/drinking habits. The ending: my son got his first dental care bag which was so cute! Thank you Dr. Chen and Michelle! I, myself ended up getting a complimentary x-ray and talked to Dr. Luong about my past braces treatment and how I wasn't as happy with my results and Dr. Luong listened and knew exactly what I was trying to explain to her. She gave me a conclusion on how my situation is fixable and was happy so therefore I will be coming back and get those aligners !! As soon as I get my wisdom teeth pulled out. Experience was great! I felt welcomed, informed, and very pleased with the whole experience. Where I will get my braces done or Invisalign I'm still deciding, but thanks to The staff I learned what the difference will be, with braces I will only worry about keeping the clean, which is my best option for a very busy lady like me! Invisalign is as effective, but only one thing I will have to be taking them on and off and I don't know if it's my best option, I may not be as compliant with Invisalign as with braces that are un removable.
