Meats: hot link, jalapeño and cheddar sausage, brisket, pork ribs Sides: jalapeño corn, Mac and Gouda
    Tiffany R.

Hands down the best smoked brisket I've ever had. I've been here several times now, and if you're lucky, you might be able to snag their Texas Twinkies too. The owner regularly adds special items to the menu, so it's worth checking their Instagram stories to stay updated on what's available. They've also served banana pudding before, and it's an absolute must-try for dessert. Service is fast and straightforward -- you order from the menu when you arrive, and depending on how busy they are, your food is usually ready within 5-10 minutes. I definitely recommend going right when they open since they've sold out multiple times before. Again, their Instagram stories are the best way to check availability and specials. Oooh the meats here are so goooood. Recently they tried Dino ribs and I can say it is delicious and absolutely fall off the bone soft. Incredible that this is sold in a truck! We tried the smoked sandwich, and the owner was so kind he threw in half a hot link because he heard me mention that I was curious about it. First, that hot link was awesome, it was juicy, and spices just right ... on my first bite I felt it could have been spicier but, honestly, by the end of the hot link I felt it was pleasantly spicy without burning my mouth and stomach , so full marks! And the sandwich was flavored so well and smoked so well that I really did not put any bbq sauce. Mmmm. Gooood. If I could change one thing, it would be to not use brioche for the bun, or give another option, because brioche can be too rich with such a sandwich. Also, it would be great to get a real cornbread. But, I'm really just making suggestions. This is such a great place my mouth is watering just writing this. Man. I'm hungry now.

Brisket, ribs, Mac and Gouda and vinegar slaw

Food was amazing! I had the brisket, ribs, Mac and Gouda and the vinegar slaw. Everything was fresh. Brisket was very juicy. Meat was falling off the bone. My mom had the pulled pork and ribs and she loved it. Jonathan(owner of truck) was very courteous and his service was great! Definitely a spot I will come back to. If you want great barbecue and great customer service, please try out Tootsies.

    Pulled pork

Highly recommend Tootsies Smoke Shack. Get there early as they do sell out. The BEST pulled pork sandwich I've ever had and my husband's brisket was delicious too, both full of so much flavor in every bite. The fries were insane, perfectly crispy. $18 for my pulled pork, fries and water. $22 for my husbands brisket, fries and water. Perfect cherry on top, the pickles were unexpectedly perfect.

    3 meat combo w/ double mac & cheese + a side sausage

Quick service, and stellar bbq. Favorites were the ribs (best spares I've ever had), the brisket, and the mac and cheese.

Today, I decided to order the Chicken Fajitas, and it completely exceeded my expectations. Without a doubt, it was the most delicious fajitas dish I have ever had. The chicken was perfectly seasoned, the vegetables were cooked just right, and all the flavors came together beautifully. Everything was cooked to perfection. The portion size was very generous, and the sides were fantastic. The guacamole, sour cream, Spanish rice, and black beans were all fresh, flavorful, and complemented the meal perfectly. I've always enjoyed the food here, but from now on the Chicken Fajitas will definitely be my regular order. Well-deserved 5 stars. Thank you, El Halal Amigos!

This was my very first visit to El Halal Mexican Restaurant in the heart of downtown Willow Glen,…read moreand I've been wanting to stop by for a while. I finally decided to give it a try after hearing about the restaurant from food reviewer Dave fiore text. As someone who absolutely loves tacos and is always on the hunt for great local taco spots, I was excited to see how this place compared to some of my favorites. I ordered four different tacos, and overall, they were pretty good. They weren't bad by any means, but they also didn't quite blow me away. The meat was cooked well, the tortillas were fresh, and the tacos had good flavor. The salsa was decent too, although I personally prefer something with a little more kick. Everyone has different tastes, so this is just my opinion. One thing I really appreciated was how clean and organized the restaurant was. You can tell they take pride in keeping the dining area nice and welcoming. The staff was friendly, and my food came out quickly. It's always a good sign when a restaurant pays attention to both cleanliness and customer service. I've eaten at a lot of taco places throughout the Bay Area, so I naturally compare every new place to some of my favorites. While El Halal Mexican Restaurant didn't make the top of my list, I still had a good experience and I'm glad I finally gave it a shot. Not every restaurant has to be your favorite to be worth visiting. I also like supporting family-owned businesses because I know how much hard work goes into running a local restaurant. They deserve credit for creating a clean, welcoming place and serving quality food. Will I come back? Maybe. If I do, I'd probably try something different on the menu instead of the tacos. Sometimes a restaurant's best dish isn't the first thing you order, and I'd be interested in seeing what else they have to offer. Overall, I'd give El Halal Mexican Restaurant a solid 4 out of 5 stars. It was a good experience, I'm happy I finally got to try it, and if you're in the Willow Glen area, it's worth stopping by and deciding for yourself.

The husband and I came here for lunch on a weekend. Parking wasn't too bad, but because it is located in downtown area, expect some challenges. There was a line out the door when we arrived, but it moved at a quick pace. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side with limited seating indoor and out. The husband and I ordered the Grilled Cheese Nashville Hot and Chicken Tenders. The Grilled Cheese was tasty with a nice balance of heat and tanginess from their slaw. The Chicken Tenders were appetizing, but it wasn't as flavorful as I had hoped for. It does come with sauce on the side, which helped. Staff were nice and service was efficient despite the growing line. Although a bit pricey, I think their chicken is good and worth trying out if you're in the area.

The staff had no idea what was going on. Once you pay there is no communication from the truck to the staff in the grill tent. Everyone is surprised when you ask for the status of your order. Then finally someone acknowledges that he's working on your order but then randomly disappears. There is also definitely a language barrier as the staff cannot understand basic English words or questions. Saw several patrons getting upset and yelling at the staff from frustration. All this chaos might have been tolerable if the food met expectations but unfortunately it didn't! The prices are also steep for what it is. The malai paneer tikka was covered in a flavorless white sauce which might have just been plain cream - and the paneer didn't even taste grilled - all this after we waited like 45 minutes for this one dish. The dahi chaat was off balance because the yogurt was pre-sweetened - so then it became overwhelmingly sweet with the addition of the tamarind sauce. We also ordered the rasmalai but we threw it away after one bite because of the overpowering artificial rose flavor they added to it. Best to skip this place entirely and save yourself the trouble!
