Their croissants are disappointing. They say they make them with real French butter and flour, but you can't taste either butter or wheat -- it just tastes overly sweet and bread-y. Ideally, a croissant should have crackly, flaky, buttery layers. Theirs is not crispy enough. I feel this bakery prioritizes aesthetics over taste. The tastes and textures are not properly developed. Everything is overly sweet and bland. Same in their Santa Clara location. I tried pistachio basque cheesecake. You could taste cheese, but not caramelization from the Basque effect, or pistachio. Very basic. At their other bakery location, I tried a few matcha things and they were plagued with same problem. The matcha flavor was not pronounced and everything tasted ersatz and boring. Bummer. as it's a super cute little cafe in downtown Los Gatos and they have so many nice looking options. read more

Their truffle and garlic butter rolls are awesome! Coffee is also good and I can tell they made with care since it was open space so you can observe them making your drinks! My friend and I both love croissants and we've seen videos of this place so we were happy to go and grab treats. Weekday lunch time and the place isn't crowded. Visited this cafe over the weekend and found street parking right in front (on Bachman Ave), though they have a small parking lot as well for convenience. The display case was well stocked full of croissants, pastries, and desserts around 11am on a Saturday. The line wasn't long, just a few people in front of me, but service was incredibly slow as customers stood in view of all the tantalizing options, waiting to be helped. Ringing up my order at the register was quick though. Only outdoor seating is available here, and all tables were occupied, so it's good I ordered for takeout. Got the ham & cheese croissant, cube croissant french toast, and an iced mocha (made with espresso). Everything was outstanding. The croissant french toast was so fluffy and buttery inside. I was pleasantly surprised with how good this was. The ham & cheese croissant was soft and buttery as well, with lots of melted cheese, one of the best ham & cheese croissants I've ever had. The iced mocha tasted fresh and had a nice balance of smooth sweet chocolate and bold coffee flavor, adding to the perfect meal. I've been wanting to visit Croissante for a while, knowing they're known for their delicious desserts and I finally visited! My friend and I shared a lemon yuzu cheesecake and a pistachio croissant, and she also got herself a chai latte. I'm usually not a big fan of cheesecake because it can feel too rich, but the lemon yuzu really cut through the cheesiness and added a refreshing burst of flavor with every bite, honestly, not bad at all. The pistachio croissant was my favorite. The flavor wasn't overpowering, you could clearly taste the pistachio, and it looked so cute too. I also loved the store's aesthetic and their blue-themed packaging, so pretty! After trying everything, I ended up ordering a mango croissant to take home. Such a fancy and tasty addition to the South Bay! After hearing a lot of hype about their original Santa Clara location, I was glad to finally try Croissante but in Los Gatos. It seems much more chill here with no lines, everything available for purchase even into the afternoon, and decent amount of seating outside. It's pricey yes, but you get what you pay for. Good coffee and I enjoyed the Triple Cheese Bun (which is creamy and a little sweet). They also have nice gift boxes for an additional cost. I've been to the Sunnyvale location a few times (which is always jam packed), but the Los Gatos spot has such a different feel. It's more of a quaint, cottage-style bakery with a really cute outdoor patio, which made it perfect for a slow Sunday. This time I went heavier on the sweets, and everything was so well done. The Lemon Bliss was easily my favorite--lemony, slightly tart, with a blueberry center and just the right amount of sweetness. It looked beautiful and tasted even better. I also picked up the chocolate rose tart and raspberry cheesecake, both of which were just as good as they looked. For something savory, the ham & cheese croissant was incredible--super flaky, buttery, and honestly not your average croissant at all. I've also had their mushroom danish before and that one never disappoints. Croissante was recommended to me by a friend. I had some things to do in downtown LG so I decided to pop in and check it out. Having looked at the website, I was under the impression that they offered breakfast/brunch items here in addition to pastries and desserts. Figured I'd get brunch and a few pastries to go. Imagine my disappointment when I arrived (hungry) and discovered that clearly this location does not serve brunch. Not sure why their website doesn't make this clear. If I had drilled down and deeply researched I may have figured out that they don't but I made a quick glance on their website so in my opinion they need to refine what's offered at which location. I set my sights on some kind of brunch replacement and got a few pastries to try: French Toast Croissant, Plain Croissant, Matcha Croissant, and Apple Turnover. I also got an iced green tea lemonade as it was unusually warm outside. Very good service. Employees were nice and efficient. I had hoped to sit outside but all of the limited seating in the shade was taken. The few open tables were in the sun. So I had a few bites in the car. Because seating isn't abundant, I would say this is more of a grab and go spot than the kind of place you can gather and stay. French Toast croissant was very good. Had one side dipped in something that had the taste of French toast and sprinkled lightly with powdered sugar. Very enjoyable. Plain croissant was good, but not anything that blew my mind. If you're a croissant purist it will satisfy the craving but you've probably had better. Matcha croissant was the winner here. Covered in matcha white chocolate with chocolate inside. I would come back for this. Apple turnover was a miss. The apple filling was not good. Hard pass on this. Iced Green tea lemonade was refreshing and nicely balanced. $33 for four pastries and a drink. There is some parking directly in front of the shop but I wouldn't bet on getting a space at a busy time. There's street parking in the vicinity and a parking lot not too far away. While I'm glad I gave this place a try I am not convinced it is good enough to come back. That matcha croissant, though.... read more

How this place is not more popular and why it doesn't have more ratings, I'll never know. I dropped by quite serendipitously because a pizza place nearby hadn't opened up yet, so instead of waiting till noon to order my pizzas, my family came here to get some savory pastries and a coffee to go. The place is small and immediately gave us Parisian vibes, the way the line and ordering were arranged. The staff was warm and friendly, and the service was quick. I ordered the ham and cheese croissant and the mushroom Danish, and a cappuccino to go. The H&C was ridiculously good - flaky on the outside, warm, cheesy, and creamy on the inside. I am not surprised it's their most popular pastry. The mushroom Danish was also fantastic. The coffee was decent but it was quite lukewarm. That's probably my only complaint, but otherwise, I am so glad we tried this place. Definitely recommend if you are near the Los Gatos downtown area or plan to head to the nearby Vasona Lake Park and need to stock on some food for a picnic in the park.... read more

I was in the area waiting for brunch and saw that the infamous Croissante in Santa Clara also had a location in Los Gatos. There were no lines too and so I just had to give them a try since I know that the lines at the SC location can get quite long. I got the kouign amann and thought it was okay. Crispy on the outside and less so inside with some chewiness in the center. This location gets their baked goods from their Santa Clara location; they restock a few times a day according to the workers there, so perhaps the items may not be as fresh as if I were to get them from their main location. The workers were extremely friendly and it's a nice and cute bakery. I'll try their SC location next time! read more

Apparently we did it all wrong because the cashier just told us to go back to the other side of the counter to talk to the other employee whose (apparent) job is to put the croissant on a tray. They put the croissant upside down in the bag so clearly they don't care. The product itself is mediocre. The raspberry jam overwhelms every other flavor in the mix. The croissant is room temperature and tastes almost stale. Crust is flaky but tasteless. It's like they made it from just water and flour. For $8 I would expect significantly better. read more

Nice location tucked away in downtown Los Gatos. I had tried going to the Santa Clara location which is more out of the way and the line was always so long. This location was not busy on a weekday and fully stocked with yummy treats. I got the honey sesame croissant and kouign amann. Picked up a pain au chocolat for a friend. My friend very much enjoyed the pain au chocolat. The honey sesame croissant was perfectly flaky without making a mess and nice and fluffy inside. I really enjoyed the flavor of it. The kouign amann was a pass for me. It was fine, but it's the first time I had a flat version of it and very much prefer a more pillowy fluffy texture to it than the whole hard bottom of it. It's a tad pricey but a nice treat when you're looking for something sweet or savory or both. read more

I had been wanting to try this place after passing by so many times on last Sunday after the farmers market I finally did. It was packed, the line took a few minutes to get through but they moved quickly. I ordered the almond croissant and a baguette to try. At the counter there were some packaged cookies in a circular container that I grabbed on a whim. The croissant was one of the best I've had in a long time. The baguette was perfect, it was small and we ate it right up. The cookies however were a lot harder than anticipated, they reminded me of biscotti more-so than cookies so were perfect for dunking in coffee. The circular container made it hard to get the cookies out. The cookies were yummy, just wish they weren't as hard. Looking forward to coming back and trying more. This location is much more convenient for us than the Santa Clara location. Easy parking and right in downtown LG. We went on a weekend morning and the line was out the door, but when we came on a weekday morning it was quiet and peaceful. My husband likes the chocolate pan suisse, and I like the matcha scone because it's not too sweet. My daughter enjoys the strawberry croissant and it's very pretty too! Everything is freshly baked and it's best to consume the day of. We haven't tried any of their cakes/tarts but hopefully we can soon. I'm surprised that I'd never heard of this French-style bakery before, since I'm a sucker for all things French and baked! Apparently this bakery has been a hit in Santa Clara for some time, but this Los Gatos location is only a month old (so now it makes sense!). My husband and I decided to check it out a few days ago and were surprised that on a weekday at 10am, many of their pastries were already down to the last few or last one! So word to the wise, if you want to try multiple things, you have to get here early, even on a weekday! We got the last Flaxseed & Maple Syrup Croissant, and it was tasty--not too sweet, a nice balance of sweetness & kind of nuttiness from the flaxseeds, and definitely sticky (from the maple syrup of course!). Make sure to grab a napkin or two! Tbh, while it was good, we both agreed that it didn't hit it out of the park compared to the croissants we've had in France. But maybe that's not a fair comparison, right? Either way, it just didn't have that lightness, airiness and flakyness that we've had before in a great croissant. Still, it was a nice treat and we appreciate that they say they import some of their ingredients from France to help make their treats as authentic as possible. There are about 4 or so small tables outside, but no seating inside. I'd say the interior is simple, clean, and has a subtle elegance with the blue color scheme and glass display cases. Walked in here today to introduce my wife to this amazing place that I've personally frequented since they opened. We were greeted by Kaitlynn who was extremely nice, very welcoming, and filled with knowledge in giving us very straightforward answers to our questions. Although I was intending on exposing my wife to the wonderful variety of croissants that this place offers, we were very intrigued by what appeared to be macaroons (the heavy/dense coconut cookies, which both my wife and I love and appreciate) right on the front counter. Kaitlynn explained not only are they not macaroons, but they are made with the same flour and principal how cream puffs are made, therefore being light and eggy as opposed to dense and coconutty. We left with a dozen of those to bring back to our family for this Sunday morning. Kaitlynn was so direct and honest and said they would not last until Sunday but rather they would get soggy. Then when my wife asked if they freeze OK Kaitlynn's immediate reply confidently once again was they will absolutely freeze well. Been to the OG location and came across this one when I was in town. Visited late in the morning on a sunday, no line literally no one except me and the employees. It was so quiet, I almost missed it. Love the quality here and you can taste the difference in the flour that they import, so even those with mild gluten intolerances can enjoy these treats! I have chocolate fiends at home and they loveddddd the triple chocolate croissant, so rich. The matcha wasn't a favorite, the flavor didn't taste like the right matcha powder for baking or icing / maybe not the right grade. The cube was so good, I saved it and ate it over the next couple of days. The actual croissant and pastry of their items are amazing, I would put this up there with Aristicault in SF. read more

This little bakery looked promising with a variety of nicely presented treats in their display case. They have a couple of tables and chairs outside. Beyond that, the service was efficient but not welcoming. The hazelnut raspberry pain au chocolat looked enticing, but was underwhelming. We ended up getting a mini tiramisu for our picnic and it was perfectly delicious with our red wine. In a twist of serendipity, we were meant to meet friends at the other location but they accidentally came to this one. The original location had a long line snaking outside down the sidewalk, inside was chaotic and loud. We drove to this location and although it's a bit smaller, they had a great selection and plenty of parking and seating. Saturday at 11:30am, btw!! Service was great. Super friendly and attentive. All pastries were in stock. It is on the pricier side and I wouldn't say they have the best croissants , but I love the variety and unique pastries (pistachio bowtie, hazelnut praline croissant, matcha croissant, etc). Remember the old Nike commercial about Michael Jordan saying that "It's gotta be the shoes"? When it comes to Croissante, it's gotta be the space. I know Croissante has other locations too but this bakery spot is bakery royalty, having been the 1st brick and mortar Manresa Bread. For Croissante, though, we love what they've done with the place and they've taken everything up a notch. Their menu is now much more varied than when they first opened. On a recent visit we loved their Egg Salad Bagel and wow the Cloud Bagel was divine - imagine a sweet bagel with pastry cream instead of traditional cream cheese. So good. Every time we've gone they've had their croissant cube - which is a huge fave - and the usual suspects like their fantastic Kouign Amann, chocolate croissants, almond, etc. As a whole, the Croissante selection seems somewhat seasonal and there have been new options every time we've come. We ordered Tiramisu which was remarkably delicious! Lots of people to help customers so there was no wait. It's a very small space with no indoor seating and wet few spots to sit outdoors. We were taking our dessert to go because otherwise there wouldn't have been a place to sit. We went later in the day, about 2:30. I forgot to ask if they make the pastries all day or make a certain amount and then it's first come, first serve. Because they didn't have any raspberry, or a big selection of other fruity desserts when we were there. I have been to Stohrer Pastries in Paris so maybe I was hoping for a bigger selection. Also it was expensive for the tiny Tiramisu we had. $11 for a tiny tin of it. I do love the ambiance inside with a beautifully painted Tiffany Blue. It's very welcoming. read more
