To make matters worse, at 12:20 PM I received a call from them saying that a technician was at my house. When I explained that I had called several times to cancel, the woman on the phone was extremely rude. Instead of listening or showing any understanding, she cut me off, spoke to me in a very condescending tone, and then hung up on me mid-sentence -- right as I was asking about their next available appointment. There was absolutely no professionalism, no courtesy, and no attempt to work with me despite me doing my best to communicate in advance. With customer service like this, I won't be contacting Louis Doors again. I'd recommend looking elsewhere if you want to be treated with basic respect.

We were hesitant as it was expensive. He said let me call my boss and see if you can get a discount. Literally minutes later he said we can get a deal with the heavy duty. We moved forward with it. When he was done he said we should also get a new motor. He can give me a discount as well. At this point my husband was working and I said I'm not going to make big financial decisions without him. Later, my husband went to inspect the work and saw that the springs used were not heavy duty, they're color coded. He called and asked for the manufacture of the springs to confirm durability which they refused to disclose. He was then quickly offered a partial refund. Due to this experience my husband left a negative review. We originally chose this company because of the positive yelp reviews and felt we wanted people,like us, to be forewarned. Now they are calling us from multiple phone numbers, came to my house while my husband was at work, and left us a threatening voicemail if we do not call them back. Needless to say, as a woman with small children, I do not appreciate the unexpected visitor. This harassment has been going on for days. They threatened to come with the police and lawyers because they're not going to service us anymore. I don't understand as the service has been done and paid. We will no longer work with you in the future. We've already looked into calling our local police department if this harassment continues and have saved our call logs, Google doorbell camera videos, truck license plate number, and voicemails. If we need to, we will contact the BBB. Under the Consumer Review Fairness Act (CFRA) this form of retaliation is illegal for businesses to behave as such. It's a shame instead of learning from their review and doing better for their customers they choose harassments and threats.

Again, DO NOT call Pioneer Door expecting the same honest service and fair pricing they were known for before. I used Pioneer Door for over 20 years and always received great service and fair prices. Recently, my garage door broke and I needed help ASAP, so naturally I called Pioneer Door because they had always been my go-to garage company. Instead, a company called GDI showed up. They completely ripped me off. Yes, I should have shopped around more -- that part is my fault -- but the reason I didn't is because I trusted the Pioneer Door name and expected the same fair treatment I had received for decades. The technician convinced me to replace my opener with a LiftMaster 2420L. He told me it was a "$600-700 professional line opener" that I wouldn't find at Lowe's or Home Depot because it was supposedly a contractor-only model with special manufacturer pricing. That turned out to be completely false. After installation, I had trouble setting up MyQ and spent 3 days trying to connect it to Wi-Fi. While researching how to fix it, I discovered the exact same LiftMaster 2420L opener sells for around $350 at Lowe's, Walmart, and other stores. It's also just a basic opener -- nothing "pro line," upgraded, or special about it. So GDI sold me a basic opener for roughly DOUBLE the retail price while misleading me into believing it was some exclusive contractor-only model. I ended up paying $1,300 installed for a LiftMaster 2420L. After calling around afterward, I found out I overpaid by about $500. $1,300 is after me trying to negotiate the cost lower--they originally wanted $1,400 + TAX. Instead, they put 8 new caster wheels on and gave me an extra remote to make me feel better--until I found out how much I got ripped off. To make matters worse, they even installed the safety sensors incorrectly. The green light sensor should be installed on the same side as the wall control so you can easily verify if something is blocking the beam. I had to call them back out a THIRD time just to correct that. What makes this even more frustrating is that I specifically told the technician I was not prepared to spend $1,300 and thought I was only looking at a couple hundred dollars in repairs. He convinced me to replace my existing Marantec opener because he claimed parts from Germany were hard to get and that repairing it would cost more than installing a new opener. That is the ONLY reason I agreed to replace it. I did not upgrade because I wanted some fancy new opener -- I did it because the technician made it sound like replacing it was the most cost-effective option. I trusted the Pioneer Door name and got burned. The two technicians (Josh, Nick) who came out for the installation, helped with MyQ, and reinstalled the sensors also asked me to leave them a 5-star review so they could earn additional compensation. It's pretty wild that after trying to overcharge a customer, they'd still ask for a positive review to make extra money. I understand everyone is trying to earn a living, but it's frustrating to feel ripped off and then be expected to leave a glowing review so they can receive commission. Clearly, the concern for the customer's wallet just isn't there anymore. This isn't the Pioneer Door I've been doing business with for over 20 years. Time to move on to another shop.

It was time to replace it with something sturdier and less likely to warp, shrink, fade. I did a lot of research on what materilas would best hold up to the brutal So Cal summers we have. I also had to keep within the Architectural guidelines of our HOA for fences. I found a company in Orange, CA, called SoCal Gates. I established contact with the owner, Ray, who is a really knowledgeable and personable guy to work with. We scheduled an appointment for him to come to our home to show us color samples of the composite material we would choose for him to use in our steel framed gate. Ray arrived, and had us look at the different colored composite samples while he took his measurements. He then went over with us the color choices and which ones would intergrate best with our home's exterior colors, including the tiled roof and front entry door and garage door. He explained how he visualized the gate would look, once mounted. We agreed on the materials and and the price. He mentioned that his installation pricing included the removal of the gate from the cinder block wall it was attached to, but did not include the removal of the old fence post or the haul away fo the old fence. After hiring another fence company to remove the fence post, back fill with concrete and haul away all of the old fence, Ray told he would've done it had I specifically asked him, for an extra charge. In fact, he told me how to remove the old post myself, so that gave me the impression he would prefer to just to install the gate with the old fence gone and the area prepped for his installation. After the HOA approved my gate plan, It only took a few weeks for Ray to build our gate and to schedule a date and time for the installation. On the day of the installation, I watched Ray assemble and install my agte, He is meticulous and thoughtful throughout his installation process. He showed me how to change out the composite planks if I ever needed to, and how to program our electronic lockest. We are very happy with out new sturdy, side gate. I would recommend anyone needing a new steel framed gate with composite planking to contact Ray.

I would recommend checking out Top Garage last. Then after you compare his price and the quality of his product with all the rest, you'll see what I discovered--his price can't be beat. And as for the quality of the door--he knows his stuff. I asked him how many major manufacturers of garage doors there are in the U.S. He knew, saying that there are basically five major suppliers. And he knows what differentiates each one from the others. He uses suppliers with thicker gauge brackets than some of the most popular competitors like MESA. And he pointed out that the parts of his door kits are not produced in China, but in the U.S. As a result, all the parts are precisely milled and fit properly. Sadly, they were late unreliable and never showed up to complete my job. I went through Yelp and found ADR Garage Doors. I called and didn't get an answer seconds later Angel called me back and I explained my situation he came the same day. He was reliable, had great communication and quick service.
