Sam does it again! Heard a loud boom sound come from the garage and went to try to open it and see what the problem was. Garage would barely lift open so I helped it open all the way up. I noticed that one of the springs was in two pieces. Looks like it's time to replace the springs... I already knew who to call. Called Sam first thing in the morning at 9am. He already had a tight schedule and said he would try to come before I was out for the day at around 1pm which was the latest I could be available. Maybe 30 minutes later I get a text saying he'll arrive before noon. Great! At 11am while inside my house I hear a honk and he was in my driveway ready to start working. Over the years, 2 garage door panels warped to cause loud noise when open and close. I tried myself to put a 8' long bar to fix the problem. It didn't help much. So decided to fix my self by watching Youtube and searched 16' long struts online. Before I purchase 2 piece 16' strut from Amazon, I called Sam at Kim's Overhead Garage Doors. My garage door was making grinding noise on Sunday. I checked Yelp and found Mr Kim's overhead garage repair, and they are closed on Sunday, but I left a message anyway, and figured I would get a call on Monday. I was surprised received a text from Sam Kim on Sunday and stated he could come out between 11-12 noon on Monday. Sam even came early, and diagnosed the issue it was a rubber coupling ? piece had cracked due to age and wear. We have been in this house two decades with the same garage door. They helped us take out an old garage door that couldn't open all the way, so that our bigger car couldn't open its trunk all the way. To fix this problem they installed it on the side wall instead of the ceiling at the center. After about a year or so our power went out and I was stuck inside the house and couldn't get the garage to open because the garage back up battery was all used up (we had several power outages). I called this number I had in my phone labeled Garage door, and I wasn't sure if it was the right number but Brian helped me anyway and told me how to unlock the emergency latch, which I had unlocked but wasn't budging for me for some reason. Wow - A+ Experience. Hire him, you will not regret it. Great price, quality, and experience. I did a lot of comparisons and research on my garage door project. I tried to fix it. I had multiple people come out and give quotes trying to fix it, sigh. Unfortunately what I had was a kluge job with major flaws that made it very easy to go off the rails and cables come off, that due to liability, most garage door people do not want to touch. So now I had to get a new garage door opener. And do to shortages, the major brands are on back order. The problem was wall mounted are relatively new, and due to a beam across my garage a center mount would not work. So the original builder hacked together a side mount system by using a center mount with some gears. The only problem, is if it hit something, the door would come off the rails because it would not stop. New systems have a photo eye, and since they are designed to be wall mounted, if they hit something they will retract. So after moving everything to give space in my garage (epic job), Mr. Kim arrived on time. Fixed some issues, replaced a rubber piece at the bottom at a fair price, and installed the new unit. Great install, very professional, and it even includes a LED light with a motion sensor. Due to part shortages, he was very kind and suggested I buy off Amazon. He explained Liftmaster (professionals use) was on back order, but Chamberlain is made by the same company. And the price at Amazon was really good, so he gave me a great deal on just installation. read more

Wow these guys were great! I live a few cities over from his business so they were able to swing by within an hour or so. They went above and beyond. Garage door will always get stuck when opening right around the halfway point. They were able to diagnose the problem as misaligned rails, with an added bonus of unbalanced springs (one had higher tension than the other). In addition to fixing the problem, they threw in some rollers (at cost) because the originals were pretty worn out and did maintenance on the hinges. Also, gave some pointers on how to do maintenance before leaving. 10/10 highly recommend and will use again. read more
