Every time I come here, I walk-in with no appointment during prime time weekend hours. Most times they take me right away. A few times I had to wait up to 5 minutes (which is nothing). Very efficient and very clean nail salon. Consistently good work. The staff are all pleasant and accommodating. Lots of pros and cons here but not the worst experience ever. Had a 6:30 but came early and the. Took me immediately anyway. Did the lady cut my nails so short I have stubs for fingers? Yes However she did my cuticles pretty well so I can't complain Also she did a pretty good job wit the UV gel and gel nail polish after the fact so I was pretty happy with it. She seemed to do everything in fast motion and sometimes as the expense of me. Overall I'd go back- right now still in the lookout for places that do UV gel fills and do them right. My daughter recommended "the nail salon at 5 points" and I accidentally went to ANOTHER nail place in the same area where the nail tech seemed annoyed I was there and made all my nails round.... without asking... while owner slept and snored away in a pedi chair. Unreal. After questioning my daughter's sanity I was again told to go to TOP NAIL. Next time.... walked into Top Nail and it was the polar opposite of that experience. The place is clean and nicely decorated. The ladies there are very friendly, very nice and AWESOME at what they do. Cuticles, dead skin removed. I have never left there less than 100% happy with my service and how I felt about my mani/pedi/eyebrows. Whatever I get done, they do a great job and go above and beyond any other place I've tried. They are very accommodating and the ladies who do the pedicures are amazing! I can't say enough about this place. If you want good service and truly beautiful nails, this is the place. I absolutely love this place. I have been coming here for the two years I have lived in Elizabeth now since I was recommended to come here. The service is always wonderful, and my nails never chip now that I go to Young only. This is now my go to place to get my nails done in the area. The staff is great, price is reasonable and they all do a great job. They also have a good selection of recent magazines as well (great way to pass time while getting your pedicure). Although it's not a big place, it's not usually that crowded when I go, so I don't bother making an appointment. The ladies that do the pedicures are very sweet and they do a pretty consistent job each time (which is important to me). The salon is nicely decorated according to season- I think it gives the place a nice ambiance. The only thing I would say is that I'm not too excited about their nail polish selection. It sometimes takes me forever to pick a color because I never find anything that pops out at me and usually have to settle for whatever I see. read more

They did my daughters nails for prom and she came home in tears. No two nails were the same length, they were all uneven on the top and instead of telling her that the could not do the ombré design she wanted, they just painted her nails and did a second coat on the tips. They charged $70 to do this and when I called them to try and explain how bad they were they played dumb. I agree with the reviewer before me in that they did have a great magazine collection. I was satisfied with my mani/pedi until I got the bill. What?! I liked the salon because my manicure lasted a full two weeks. However, I got the biggest infection on my finger! It was so painful and inflamed. I had to spend so money on medicine and a doctor. It was the most expensive manicure ever. I will never go back. The ladies cut the cuticle too close and I don't think the UV machine is enough to clean the equipment they use. Salons should be required to unpack sterile packets of equipment for all customers. read more

Top Nail is your stereotypical nail salon, always bustling with polite but reserved nail technicians, reliable waxing, and a decent selection of colors for gel manicures. The prices are fair -- I'd say comparable to most salons in the area. Because I mostly go for gel manicures, I'm going to review that service. Gel manicures at Top Nail cost $25, and they include all the elements of a regular pedicure service (cutting/filing, cuticle removal, buffing, moisturizing, and quick hand massage) in a slightly different order due to the nature of gel manicures. They have at least 100 shades to choose from for gel manicures, and I believe the brands they carry are OPI, ibd, gelish, and maybe one or two others. I typically go to Lea, but the last time I went, they said she no longer worked there, so I felt alright going to someone else. Most of the technicians I've had manicures with there are careful, deliberate, and nearly obsessive in how neat and smooth they apply the gel, and they're very diligent about not getting a speck of polish on your skin. Often, they'll only paint two or three nails before putting your hand under the UV light, which I've found leads to a shinier and longer-lasting manicure. Even though I find the other manicures completely satisfactory, I just liked going to Lea because she was always happy, energetic, and a true perfectionist when it came to nails. I've also had a few pedicures here. They were alright, not crazy about how neat they were. Also, the girl who was doing my pedicure spoke in Spanish to the girl next to her, making fun of another customer, which I thought was pretty rude considering it's not that much of a stretch to assume people in the salon could understand Spanish. To be fair, the girl was touching my feet, so that might have put her in a bad mood. Overall, a pretty reliable place for a gel mani, maybe a pedi if you really need one. read more

I walked back and she said I had oils on my nail not her fault. :/ I will not get a pedicure here either. Last time I got one the drain started bubbling and I told the owner about it and she acted as if though I was speaking another language. So I kept going only for the nails. I have been coming here for about 2 years and it is my favorite place in Union for mani/pedi. Last week I got my first gel manicure and I loved it. Walk-ins are welcome. This is the best spot in the area for a gel manicure. Top Nail charges $25 and this includes removing your old gel manicure (a task that takes me at least 30 minutes at home but takes the nail technician 5-10 minutes). They are very meticulous and perfectionists when applying the gel as to only get it onto your nail. They have never overdone it when trimming my cuticles (many salons overdo it causing you to bleed) and they make sure to apply 3 coats when using a lighter color. They have a large selection of colors and anytime I walk in, I am seated within 10 minutes. They have enough technicians working during the high volume walk in times. I have been getting gel manicures here for a year and have no complaints. They also do a nice pedicure. read more

For starters they don't honor their appointments. They will toss aside a good customer who comes in every two weeks and spends $50 for someone else who comes in for a manicure regardless if they have an appointment. Furthermore they have new owners now and even though they never changed the name of their salon they won't except gift certificates for their salon if they were bought during the previous owners time. Imagine my embarrassment when I had bought one of my relatives a $75 gift certificate and they were told they wouldn't take it. Not one cent! Not even half because it has been purchased under previous owners. But there is no written notification of this anywhere in the salon. Lastly my daughter went in for a gel manicure and all the gel came off in less than a week. A gel manicure usually lasts 2. In addition her pedicure chipped in 2 days as well. Asked for a full set acrylic, and got gel WITHOUT TELLING ME. I didn't notice because I was reading. When I asked why they changed my request WITHOUT my consent; they said they don't do it because it's unhealthy and that it is "bad for me." I had my own reasons to do acrylic and explained to them. I've been there many times before in the past but never acrylic. They apologized, however charged me $60 because that is their price for gel nails. I have shared my experience in Union's online chat group, and received responses from 30+ women saying that is NOT THE GOING PRICE IN UNION. Average in this town is $30 - $40, same as NYC. I can say the staff is nice and the place is clean. I felt like they overcharged me I had gotten a gel manicure with pedi and my daughter who only got their nails painted pedi and mani. They charged me $75 which is too pricy and my daughter is only a child and they should have not charged a lot. Also the next day my gel ripped off my pointer finger which should not have happened. I don't get a professional manicure regularly but I splurged on one for an upcoming event. I was glad that they were able to accommodate me on short notice. I wanted a basic red color for a standard manicure. They had such a limited selection - nothing bright red (fire truck shade) so I settled for a bloody red. The manicurist did such a terrible job. The polish was deeper in some areas than others. The nails were not completely coated with polish. Within 12 hours of the manicure 3 nails had slightly chipped. 24 hours after the manicure, I had to redo it myself if I wanted to go out in public! I do NOT recommend this place at all. read more
