10/10 experience! I've been getting acrylic nails for 15 years and wanted to end an era and work on the health of my natural nails. Looked up "Builder Gel" on yelp and was surprised to see only a handful of salons offering this service in all of NJ but delighted to see that lotus was one of them- less than 10 minutes from where I work! Linda accommodated me same day which I was grateful for since she is by appointment only. Once I arrived it was obvious why. The way to describe the entire experience was positive vibes. Lotus is a small salon with incredible attention to detail: Plants, couch, art, decor, ambient lighting- feeling like you are at a friends home or a yoga studio on a Sunday. The best surprise was her adorable Yorkie Bella greeting me at the door. It took nearly an hour to soak off and remove my acrylics (which is expected) which her technician Maria helped with. She put a warm weighted compress on my shoulders that felt amazing to relax. Maria was so gentle and focused on the integrity of my nails underneath. Linda completed my builder gel set and told me about her journey becoming a salon owner. She worked hard to follow her dream and take the risk, pursuing her "passion to make people feel beautiful." The reviews were great and I felt confident that I was going to get a proper mani pedi, no gel or dip as my nails are sensitive. I contacted her through yelp yesterday morning asking for an appointment and she was able to accommodate the same day a few hours later. I got a gel pedicure and regular manicure. Well, I hoping to post another positive review but unfortunately, that is not the case. -the day after I had my nails done, the paint on my nails began to peel right off. I washed dishes briefly and I don't work in a space where my hands would be regularly wet. I informed her and she said I could come back in for a fix but due to my hectic schedule and her limited availability, I was unable to pop back in. After spending $100 plus, offering a fix or not, the paint shouldn't peel off. -Linda is a one woman shop..literally. Her ex mom in law does help but she isn't qualified and every step of the way, Linda has to give her directions. She is severely understaffed & can't keep employees in her salon. Which means if you're the next person to be seen, you'll be held up. Just as the lady who was after me, who had to wait & watch Linda guide her mom in law. -I had an appointment but unfortunately I was ill. So I decided to reschedule the appointment. Once again, Linda is the only one there so appointments are slim to none. & she will try to squeeze you in but that means she will be doing multiple things at once while you wait. Since I had to reschedule, I lost the $20 deposit. Trying to make another appointment, I'd have to send another $20. That's $40 on top of what could run up to $100+ (hands only) and a tip. She will never be short of customers because I witnessed, in person, how often her phone rings and she has to turn people away, while people are waiting for JUST her. -Although her work is good and she pays attention to detail, her pricing structure (she charges for EVERYTHING, literally), lack of availability, "eh" customer service, I wouldn't recommend going to her until she has proper staffing and availability. read more

I want to start off by saying I am 33 years old and have never been a "regular" at a nail place before. Honestly I'd always just go to wherever had the time available to fit with when I had time off from work, and wherever was cheaper. Ever since the first time I've been here though... I haven't gone elsewhere. I will literally schedule weeks in advance to ensure I can have my spot to work with my work schedule, and never have I been happier with my nails! Yes - there is a $20 venmo deposit. It's a small intimate salon, and it guarantees your appointment. I understand the apprehensiveness, and my first time I was a bit as well - but the $20 is applied towards your total, so it's not an added cost. Linda is great - not only as a nail technician, but she's just great overall! Makes the whole experience so enjoyable, and after coming here a while you end up feeling like not only friends, but family. I'm going out of town for a couple of weeks, and it coincides with when I have to get my fill done, and I'm dreading having to go somewhere that won't be nearly as well done as she does haha. Since it's appointment only, it's not crowded so the salon has a very relaxing atmosphere which is a nice touch. I came to Linda with my acrylic nails looking like a mess. It was also over a month since I last got them refilled because I had a bad experience with my previous nail salon and was looking around for a new one. I decided to try this salon out because it had good reviews. It is one woman, Linda, working by herself who takes clients by appointment. When she was taking the top layer off, she noticed moisture spots underneath. She informed me that when nails lift and water gets in, it can form moisture spots which could eventually grow fungus. She advised me to take the acrylics off to let my nails breathe. I also told her that I work in a pool and regular nail polish and regular gel comes off within a week, which is why I got acrylics in the first place. She recommended I get UV gel as it stays on in the water and is a little better for my nails than acrylics. She took the time to soak off my acrylics before putting on the UV gel. It's only her working, but she had enough time to finish my nails, paying careful attention to detail, in time for her next client. She did a great job and had great customer service. read more

I requested ombré which costs $20 more than the usual gel ($35) but was totally justified considering the detail and time it requires. I also appreciated how clean the salon is. Your shoe bottoms are sprayed before entering, there is a place to wash your hands, and I saw Linda spray each tool she used on me with alcohol. I will be returning! read more

Welp Yelp... Linda was amazing again! I had a major nail emergency after an abysmal job of 3 nails tipped, a UV gel overlay, and round shaping done at the nail salon in Newport Mall. Tragic! But that's what I get for getting my nails done someplace "on the way". It irked my soul so bad, I made it 7 days before I reached out and called Linda to please fix it. AND FIX IT SHE DID! She removed my unintentional bubble looking nails, reshaped them to round from the... left-of-center mostly almond shape, and applied a builder gel that enhanced the strength of my natural nail without the 3mm of gel the person at the other place did. I am super particular about the level of quality of services I receive. The excellence I get with Linda's work have made me a permanent client. I should have followed my first mind and called Linda because she has a gift with nails. I will never stray again! Beautiful work! read more
