It was the oddest experience I have ever had. The male person performing my service, his head covered in a black hoody and wearing a black Covid type mask, acted as though he was doing me a favor by my paying for a manicure, sending several looks of disdain once when I didn't understand what he said to me in his obviously heavy Vietnamese accent, which he then repeated what he had said in a stern judge mental voice, and then when I pointed out one of my nails had smuged, obviously annoyed that I expected him to repair it.. it was awful, not at all friendly. Okay, found another great place closer to home in the Barnyard shopping center. The staff is super super nice and the two times I have been there so far they always have such a positive vibe, have the door open which is nice and it hasn't been crowded either time but not desolate either. I asked for an "ombré" effect on my fingernails they said they know how to do it...as you can tell in the photo it is NOT an ombré effect. But I could get over that however my Toenail got very infected after she dug out an ingrown nail. It's been 2 weeks and it still won't heal. To top it off everything cost $120! Henry, one of the nail technicians has outstanding customer service. He's very friendly too. I have always been picky about going to nail salons because I have bad ingrown but Henry took care of it really fast. The store is very clean so clients feel safe to come in. Although they provide services outside, you still have some privacy because they setup tents and dividers. My first time coming here but definitely not my last! I was visiting my parents in Carmel and desperately needed a new gel mani. My folks go to Top Nails for their pedicures and rave about how gentle, thorough and professional everyone is. I was able to nab an appt with Hani. She expertly removed the old gel so carefully. She was doing her best not to bother my already thin nails. She was remarkable. No discomfort. Especially now that Tina no longer works there. Original review: I tried this place one day when a nearby salon that I used to go to was booked. I was fortunate enough to have Tina do my nails that day and she said she could give me a shellac mani that would last 3-4 weeks. She said, "if it does, you come back and ask for me." Well it did and I did, and I have been going to Tina for over a year now (maybe 2?) Honestly, I don't think I have ever been to a dirtier, grosser place. The dust is thick - not just the day's accumulation. There's mold (!!!) growing in an old cup next to me. I don't write bad reviews. I know everyone has their off days but for $67 dollars, I would totally expect my cuticles to be noticed and for my gel manicure and traditional pedicure to take over 40 minutes. Run for your life! There are several other, cleaner, nail salons in the area. It feels and looks like a 'sweat shop'. Lots of Vietnamese folks - men, too - speaking to one another from across the room. The manager/owner (Charlie?) spent 14 minutes talking on his cell phone while working on a client. The women don't speak much English and they all live together. Their hours and working conditions are quite concerning. Now that I am working in Carmel I had to switch from my normal nail salon for convenience. One positive thing that stands out to me about this place compared to most any other nail salon (besides high end ones in spas) is that when you make an appointment and come at your appointment time they are actually ready for you! Most other comparable nail salons will not be, I always joke that its like they just say yes to everyone and then just make you wait forever like there's no point in actually making an appointment but I appreciate that they respect your time here. I have been going to Nina and Hanni who both do a great job. I do the shellac and it always lasts as long as it should if not a little extra. I even tried the gel nails that I loved (super pretty) but decided to go back to my regular old nails as the gel is expensive and more high maintenance. My only complaint is the same one I have about most the nail salons in this town is the lack of cleanliness. It never looks very clean in there and one of the pedicure massage chairs (the one they always happen to seat me in) is broken! If they were to hire a professional cleaner and maybe revamp the place a bit I think it would be more then worthwhile for their business considering other reviews about the same thing on here. Yikes - I ended up with a crazy rash after a pedicure here, went to the doctor, and they told me it was an infection that they associate with dirty implements and tubs at nail salons. I was a little sketched out by the cleanliness (or lack thereof) at this place when I came in, and now I know I should have followed my instincts and left before they got started.
