You know I don't normally do reviews but this experience needs to be shared with everyone. Unfortunately, this was a bad experience. I am new to town and was trying to get my nails done, It started great everyone was nice and so was the guy doing my nails, and it wasn't too bad for a full set 50$. And I left the salon happy with my experience and loved the design they recommended. But then they started falling off one by one the 3rd DAY they were on there. lifting already? Unfortunately, you have lost a customer today. I scheduled an appointment for a pedicure. Called 3 days ago to make an appointment. Called again to see if you could get me in any earlier since I was in town. And both times failed to mention that credit card machine was down and it was cash only. I would have brought cash if I would have known. Also, I scheduled for a deluxe pedicure but when I went in you said you only had time for a regular pedicure. I also got yelled at to go a certain way in the shop because of remodel. Signs would be nice to indicate direction on where to go. I asked for a more vibrant color and was bombarded by 2 other women, and seen they took it personal. VERY friendly staff!! I came with my boyfriend- his first pedicure and we both had a really pleasant time. It's very clean and they were very accommodating when we had no appointment. There is a VIP room that is decked out from floor to ceiling, but we just opted for the "normal" experience and we were really happy with it! My feet have had a hard winter and they did not look down on me at all for their condition...instead "it's okay, we will take care of it for you!" Last night I walked in for a fill in and gel polish. After waiting for a few minutes (nbd) a woman was brought from the back in an obviously bad mood. The entire process was rushed, the woman who did my nails was very rude and rough, she would throw my hands back at me after she was finished with each step and said all of 5 words to me the entire time. My cuticles were cut on 7/10 of my nails, very deep and she continued to do my nails while my fingers were still actively bleeding. After cutting me, she scolded me and told me my skin was dry and that's why I was bleeding. I was still charged full price and informed that she cut my cuticles for free (gee thanks for the hack job). I've been going here for almost a year with no issues, but I will never go back after this service. read more

This experience was most definitely not relaxing, it was quite painful and the nail tech was very rough and mildly argumentative when I attempted to ask him to please fix it. Polish was slopped on. The acrylic was very thick on some nails and very thin on others. I wasn't able to pick the shape I wanted. Went to Happy nails for a manicure, pedicure, and wax by appointment . $110 later I swear I will never return. The pedicure was rushed and did not bother to buffer my skin. Pedicure nail polish looked decent. For $40 I guess I expected more than 0 soak time, a minimal and disappointing message, and immediately being told to get up without my toes drying. They constantly tried to upsell me on everything, rushing me from wax to pedicure to manicure without listening to me. I asked for black and red nails and got red and silver. The wax is amazing. My eyebrows have never looked better, their only saving grace. During the manicure the tech cut me, burned me, and got my colors wrong. She used her own nails to crush down my skin to make too small extensions fit. They used old, used, and nasty nail files as well as reusing dips and buffers. Absolutely disgusting. My nails ended up crooked, raised, and overall horrible looking. When trying to get your nails done for your own military ball I will NEVER recommend. Avoid at ALL costs. Update: after having to go in and have my finger cut and drained by the doctor as well as a round of antibiotics, my nail eventually fell off. My nails were healthy prior due to me only having them done a few times in my life before. Sad that getting a manicure has left me with pain and problems months after. 0/10 don't recommend. read more

I am truly disgusted with my experience today. I came in this morning around 10a to get a full set and pedi. Pinky was a bit crooked and I mentioned it before paint because I know it's hard to fix afterward. I asked for a color in the book menu that did not match the bottle. So I specified that I would like lavender rather than pink. I was made to feel I was a total hassle. Charged $75 for stilettos and still incorrect color. I paid $90. Then I was told they wouldn't have time to do my pedi. I understand I was a walk in, but was only told this after I insisted on the color I wanted. I was told to come back at 3. I thought maybe they were busy, so that would account for the attitude. I was told by the gentleman doing my set, that he would be able to take his time with my pedicure if I came back at 3. I came back at 250. Was sat in the chair until 320 and attended to by the youngest staff. He was very kind, but after only having my toe nails painted at 340p and not even yet having solution added to the water, I simply told him the color looked very nice, but once he finished the paint, I would not be having the the deluxe pedi I originally asked for. I've never had a pedi service after paint so I was a bit confused. I walked back into an empty lobby, was charged $64 for just the gel paint, no pedi, and I walked out to the gentleman I'd made my appointment with, in front smoking a cigarette. No parting words. No eye contact. I felt humiliated, dismissed, and certainly overcharged. I will never be back. $134 total, + tip. read more

I have a usual salon I go to which is impeccable, but I occasionally try a new place for a pedicure to see what others offer. This place seems to get good reviews in some places, so I thought I'd check them out and made an appointment. Now, you would think if you have a brand new customer you would want to give them a good experience to perhaps keep them. But, no, not Happy Nails. They give you the newest possible tech. Who doesn't want to wear gloves and is slow slow slow and also leaves your legs bruised and hurting days after the massage because they think bones are muscles, I guess? The tech did a fair job otherwise and the polish is neat, so I will give them that. The other issue, despite signs everywhere about being quiet for the other clients, they allowed a person not even getting services to sit in a pedicure chair and watch videos on their phone with the volume up with no concern for the others who might not want to hear that while trying to enjoy their "pedicure" experience. I will start by saying this was my 2nd place nail shop to go to in town. I always hit allure up first due to location and overall preference but happy nails was always 2nd choice if allure was closed for any extended period as they often due for New Years or holiday or even a nail emergency on a Tuesday during their reg closed days. I have also recommended happy nails to people, never again. Yesterday 2/13/19 I went in for a fill on a fresh full set I had placed two weeks ago. I had the full set don't at happy nails and was happy with my services as usual. I wanted a fill and fresh paint for Valentine's Day. I came in at 1:30pm and they had customers but weren't busy. I grabbed my color and sat down with the lady and told her I wanted to shorten my already almondy-round nails and a gel fill. She said ok and started. The lady seemed confused from the start she kept filing the nail a little bit and asking me if it was short enough... I said no I'd like you to take this much down and I showed her on the nail, she then cut them with some type of nail clipper which with round nails doesn't work especially when short. The. She starts filing again but the way she had cut them made a round nail impossible, she kept filing on my thing until I jumped and it bled. She nicked my middle finger twice and actually dropped the drill file. At this point I asked her to stop and it just didn't feel right and I was going to leave- my nails were half a mess I was pretty upset. she kept saying "we can fix this and build up your thumb" so I stayed and let the second lady who had done them two weeks ago fix them. This this point it's 3pm this whole ordeal has just been a mess. My nails are now a very sharp squat shape which I don't like at all and didn't want and I mentioned three times I don't like the shape of these I wanted round. I asked the lady to just take the set off because it wasn't what I asked for and I wasn't happy... she initially said ok but then said "no I'll fix it right now I'm sorry I'll fix it" the lady then asks me to pay now because she doesn't want to mess my paint up later this is where I went wrong. I never should have paid. Once I paid they were done apparently. when she went to paint them I asked for the clear coat that goes with the gel fill and she said " oh I did acrylic" when I told her I asked for gel she said "oh don't worry acrylic is cheaper anyhow" At this point it was 4:30 and I needed to pick my kids up at 5 from the babysitter I had paid for earlier so I could get my nails done I was overly frustrated bcs I had been there all day and my nails looked like crap. A younger lady came and asked me if I wanted a new set because I wasn't happy. I was in shock after sitting there for three hours and asking them to stop and to take the stuff off they had done. I told her I just had these done two weeks ago a new full set would be very damaging to my nail bed. When they dried I stood there trying to talk to someone and everyone ignored me for 10+ minutes. I had to hurry and grab my kids so I left for 15 minutes and then came back. When I walked in the same younger lady I think Lilyann came up to me and said she was sorry and they would take them off and refund me the (25$) I said ok and stood there they were busy at this point and it was a little after 5, lillyann then came back and said everyone is busy I said ok I can come back after 6? She said yes and again said they would take them off and refund the money. I come back at six it was just insanity. They had a few customers but were not busy anyhow I sat down for a soak off and asked for lillyann and the other nail tech said. "She left she said she didn't want to talk to you anymore" she then starts yelling at me how I'm a liar and my nails are perfect and exactly how I asked for them. I said no not at all. It was frustrating and embarrassing. This has been my go to shop when my reg place is closed for over 10 years! I asked to talk to a manager and was told they're gone on vacation, I said ok who's in charge? I still had these horrid nails on. Lillyann came back in and said ok we won't refund you but I'll give you a gift certificate. I said ok this is nuts I will never come here again after being yelled at, called a liar. A guy comes in and soaks the off. I asked him ok I'd like the gift certificate for the refund and he walks out. I stand there waiting and no one would acknowledge me or talk to me. I again asked a lady about the gift certificate and she wouldn't look at me. After a while I just walked out. I guess 10+ years of coming here means nothing. Had they just taken the nails off, not yelled and been so rude and given a refund I would have just chalked it up to a bad deal that was fixed. I will never again go here or recommend this place. Not worth the trouble should you run into it. My phone was of course dead since I sat at the asking for over 4 hours yesterday but I did take a picture of how low she filed my thumbs which is crazy. read more

Had an amazing experience! The manager is very accommodating and makes sure you leave happy. It isn't the place that ppl are unhappy with. It's the person you get that makes or breaks it and it's like that at every salon in town. I tried happy nails for the first time this weekend and unfortunately will not be returning, I went for a pedi / mani because I have heard rants and raves. The pedi was very mediocre for the price , and the gentlemen who did my mani ended up cutting a huge gash out of my finger :( it's still healing up and because of this I will not be returning. Came here before my daughter got married. I live out of town. Services were fine. A few details could have been better. It's not soothing to soak your hands in freezing cold water. The gentleman who did my nails got the water before even wrapping my nails do by the time it was used it was very cold. My daughter said her water was so hot she felt her hands were burning. Horrible acrylics and had to wait even with an appointment. I'd been going to Happy Nails off and on for a while for pedicures and manicures. Went ahead and for acrylics as my daughters has been getting them there for some time and they looked great. I got a rude woman who used a roll of filthy paper towels as a cushion for my arms as my nail tech. She huffed and pulled on my hands and arms. She also made a face at the state of my cuticles. On top of that, the acrylic is thick and uneven and puddled up against my cuticles. She didn't hardly do any shaping including near my cuticles or under my nail where I have huge lumps of acrylic that bug me and catch lotion, food, etc. She forgot to put clear Gel on top of one of my fingers which caused me to go spend even more time to get it fixed. read more

She was friendly, attentive and took pride in her work. The last two times are the reason I won't be going back. There was polish left on my skin, I was cut and it was rushed. I shouldn't feel like I could do a better job myself. I am also not a fan of being up-sold. If I decline a service, leave it at that, don't ask why or try to push me to change my mind. There were plenty of colors to chose from and this is the only nail salon that I've been to in Fairbanks that has the marbled foil that is on my ring fingers. The lady who did my nails filed down my natural nail, and they were already thinned out and damaged. I am visiting Fairbanks for a month. I went to Happy Nails 2 weeks ago for a pedi / mani and had a bad experience. I had an appointment but still had to wait for more than 30 minutes. Then I was told they were short handed and they could not do the services I requested. Normal pedicure only ( I wanted the spa pedi) and rushed manicure if I still wanted it. Got the services they were mediocre at the very best. I decided to give another chance, and guess what. Same experience. I had an appointment, I still had to wait for more than 30 minute while they took other people in front of me, told they are short handed and I could not get the service I requested. I got a 16 minute pedicure (very very very rushed) and then the woman providing the service got up and walked away. She told me someone else would be doing the polish. The pedicurist finally came over and did a coat, then I waited while she went back to her customer. This went on for 20 minutes and then I finally asked to please pay and leave...she then finished the service. The place is dirty and junky. The manicurists & pedicurists don't seem to care about their customers, and after 2 times of having the same "can't give you want you want even with an appointment" I would say this is a thumbs down place. Came into shop and felt very rushed around and they were not friendly. Told me to go pick out gel color on long table, what long table? Well, it was in another part of salon. Once I got color picked out I was told to sit in the chair and start soaking feet. It took like 10 minutes for anyone to even acknowledge me. By the time they got to me, I took my feet out of the water and said , I will not be getting my pedicure. They didn't even offer a towel to dry feet, walked across their floor with wet feet to get my shoes on. Service was bad, would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Had a pedicure here tonight. $70. About the same price as everywhere else in town. Lots of pedi chairs and stations for manis. Outside and entry area didn't look clean. I chose the $50 pedi with gel. The $50 got me into the VIP room. A very calming area. I didn't like the plastic bag in the door tub. But that's just me. I wouldn't recommend the VIP room again only because it is a tight area and if there is a group of women talking to each other and FaceTiming you can't relax. The pedi itself was ok...not the best. The "boss" coming in and checking the timers and counting heads was a bit unnerving. I will not be returning. I will stick with Allure or LA Nails. In the end I am sure they are all owned by the same people. read more

I tried going here regularly but I honestly just can't do it anymore. They're the cheapest in town but they're also the lowest quality. After two sets of nails with gaps in the acrylic where it hadn't been sealed to my real nails correctly, shellac that was slopped onto the nails leaving a wavy texture and hard chunks of shellac on my skin and under the nails, the longest appointments I've ever experienced, and topcoat on normal nail polish that turns gray and chips off within days I decided to try another salon I've had good experiences with in the past. The man doing my nails at the new salon was horrified by my nails when he popped off my nails (no need to soak a 3yo was strong enough to remove a couple with just a tug). I have dark red indents from where the dremel was used too heavily and went through most of the layers of my natural nails, this also explains why my nails hurt so much every time I got them done there. Also if you happen to go to happy nails STAY AWAY from the skinny older man with glasses, he normally wears a button down shirt and khakis. He's the one who ruined my nails and does sloppy work. read more

What a horrible outcome! My friend and I went to get a pedicure, and I was excited as I'd never gotten one before. After a few rough weeks, I was really looking forward to this, but I should have avoided it altogether. I asked for warmer water, but they said they couldn't do anything and I had to put my feet in cold water. The lady doing my pedicure used an actual cheese grater to unevenly shave skin off my foot and cut my toe, which I didn't think much of until I was horrified to find a plantar wart a week later! I'd never had this issue before and didn't know what it was until a friend told me; it caused me so much pain and I'm only lucky to have caught it early to have suffered with it for a month. I tried contacting them multiple times by e-mail to ask about hygiene, but I never got a response. It was mortifying and painful to get a plantar wart from a dirty pedicure! Beyond that, we'd paid for the extra services and we never got the foot massage. It seemed like a good price, but I guess you get what you pay for unfortunately. read more
