I have been coming to this place since 2005. I am a very loyal customer and can brush off unpleasant experiences fairly easily. In the past couple of years I have encountered less than pleasant experiences more than a couple of times. From judging my personal appearance (I'm very curvy ) to being told and argued with about a certain color or nail shape I "the customer paying for the service" requested. Now don't get me wrong, I know all about upselling and trying to get customers to purchase unnecessary things. But to become visibly upset when the customer denies it? Not ok. Again...I brushed it off. Needless to say, my nails were far from perfect. I had to come in again two days later to get them fixed. I'm a professional with very limited time. This was very time consuming. To top it off the nail technician appeared bothered and blamed me for ruining my nails, which was obviously not the case since the bumps could have only been made by her work. Regardless she semi-fixed the mistake. Today I walk in requesting a service and everyone just stares at each other. I then am told to come back in tomorrow (I work! Hello! ), so I leave to finally go in search of a new nail salon after 12 years. Not sure if it's because they're getting busier, but their service is less and less up to par. So me and a friend had gone to top nails, and for starters they sat us in the corner by the door with flies everywhere which is not ok. Also one time i was there they tried cheaping us out and didn't give one of us the orange rub or hot towel. They also talk about you in there language. Wouldnt recommend it. I got a spa pedi with callus removal for $30. I was a walk-in. The staff is a bit on the serious side. If you want friendly service with a bit of chit chat - this is not the place. However, the lady who did my pedi did a good job. I didn't feel like it was rushed at all and I'm completely satisfied. Just know that they will try to up sell you. There is a $15 minimum for credit cards. You will need to tell them how much tip you want to give before they swipe your card or you will be indiscreetly asked if you have cash for the tip (hahaha). read more

I highly suggest avoiding this placer at all costs. They service is awful at best and the job they do on your nails, well, I am extremely unhappy with them. I had been to this place once or twice for basic mani pedi's and found the girls to be a little thoughtless and cold but returned for convenience sake when I had my acrylics done. They use the glitter acrylics, the same ones that AllWays Nails on Corbin uses and I wanted a new color so they sanded down my nails, applied the new color and didn't even fill them all the way! there is still space above my cuticles... which they didn't tend to either. The color looked totally different on my hands then on the sample sheet and because of the girls shoddy application the nails look TRI COLORED! thick pink in one spot, light pink on the bottom, and worse of all are the tips because the white came out clear. They look like a child with a glitter stick did them. I called and voiced my unhappiness and the girl on the phone said I could come in and fix them for free. I went in and the girl that had done them was called over and was very confrontational with me and said I could not have them fixed unless I paid the 50 dollar full price. They had even forgot to put the gels on at the end! Fed up I walked out. I'd say avoid avoid avoid this place. I am so unhappy with their customer service and lack of skill I will never return here. Besides that it is slightly over priced. Do they think being next to a Gelsons in Northridge makes them high end and worthy of top salon prices? I think not. read more

I experienced the worst service at this nail salon!!! I walked in for a gel manicure and pedicure and was done in a total of 30 mins because the lady was ready to leave and speeding right thru! She first suggested I do gel on my feet which I never do and questioning why I don't want to like it was a crime. She gave me a total of two minutes to decided what color I want and sticking her hands all over the colors to make me decide. Shouting out the numbers of the colors when I haven't even said a color to her throwing numbers at me and saying ya that one ya this one pick one which color. RUDEEE!! Back off lady I'm spending good money on this service that you are making me uncomfortable for not picking a color instantly. Half way thru my service I realized she didn't even turn on my massage. When I asked her she wanted me to wait until she finished all of my nails to turn it on. That is very rude and since my service was sooo fast. I actually enjoyed my pedicure until I looked down and saw without asking she cut off most of my nail I was growing out. I would not recommend going to this nail salon to anyone and best believe I wont be going either. They just strike me as money hungry. NOT A FAN! Hope this helps out. read more

I have been coming here for years, and have never had a bad experience until today. The reason I gave it 3 stars, is because if you come here, there are only 3 ladies I trust to do my nails. Ivy, Katie and Donna do BEAUTIFUL work. I happened to have some time today and figured I would get a touch up and change the color of my gel mani. None of the 3 women I normally go to were there, so I settled to see someone else. First, she filed my nails all unevenly, and I had to constantly point out where I would like my nail filed down more so it would look straight. Then, she gave me the wrong color than what I had chosen, to her credit she did start over and correct it. Then, another woman switched places with her to finish my nails because a girl came in for waxing and I guess the woman doing my nails was the only qualified person to wax. The next woman's hands were so shaky, I knew it wasn't going to be pretty. I did not want to be rude, so I didnt say anything. Then when she was finished, the flowers I had requested on my ring fingers looked more like big blobs. The original woman came back after waxing and I asked if this could be fixed, she said because we already put the top coat on, we would have to re-do both nails from scratch. I did not have time for this so just paid and left. I admit, I will go back, but when I do, I will ONLY go to either Ivy, Katie or Linda, and I suggest you do the same. read more

They kept speaking Vietnamese in front of us which makes us think that they're talking about us due to their body language and it was very uncomfortable. They forced us to give a tip and the tip was obligatory and not optional. Service was horrible they kept rushing us and all they were thinking about was money money money! This place looks great and they have a great color variety for regular and gel colors. however, the ladies working their are so rude to anyone who looks young or that might not have so much money automatically gets bad service. It was my first and last visit to this torture chamber. The outcome of the finished manicure job was decent, since I asked for half-moon nail polish with red on pink, which required some effort. As for cleanliness....FAIL. The tools weren't sterile or clean. The emery board nail file she used on me was not new (as required by law) but heavily used, it must've had 500 samples of DNA on it. I had done some research on nail salons and the red flags to look for, and this shop definitely had violations and I plan to report them. As for customer service....FAIL. The inconsiderate woman named Jessica who did my nails kept hurting me to the point of bleeding and burning me with the dermel tool. She was rude, impersonable, rough, and manhandled me so badly that my finger tips and nails were quite sore and took 2-3 days to recover. I never been treated so badly at a salon. They entire staff and owner were so unprofessional, unwelcoming, ignored their customers, and only talked amongst themselves in another language. I consider myself an easygoing customer with no unrealistic expectations. I made an appointment, came on time, I was polite, and tried to engage in small conversation to lighten the dark mood, I didn't flip out when the woman was hurting me throughout the whole manicure and yet I was met with utter rudeness. I have come here on and off for awhile. They give a good mani pedi however, I ALWAYS make an appointment ahead of time and last week I got there at 5:25pm for my 5:30 appt. and I had to wait 10 minutes to be sat in the pedicure chair.. When I was finally in the chair they ran the water and then I just sat there... and sat.. and sat... Another 15 minutes went by and I asked her how much longer.. She said 10 minutes. I was frusterated but already there so I was just talking myself out of being upset.. these things happen right? well.. I sat and sat and sat... The water was eventually freezing cold and I had to turn the warm water on myself to warm it up. Another 20 minutes passed... And again another 20... I had been there over an hour just sitting and waiting.. I finally shook my feet off and grabbed my shoes to leave.. The lady tells me.. No! I will be right there.. I said how much longer.. and she said 10 minutes.. Well their 10 minutes is clearly an hour to them. I slipped my sandals back on and left at 6:40pm! I wont be going back.. This place is SCAREY! I never write complaints but so many things went wrong it was unbelievable. The lady actually cut off a sliver of my entire toenail. I paid extra for the deluxe pedicure and manicure and they didnt even scrub my heels or massage. it was more of a quick rub. To top it off they were very pushy about my friend and I paying more for services. This place seems like it would be legit in appearance but I would rather go to a cheap salon because the would do better. For about 5 years now I have been a loyal customer of top nails and my girl was mimi. She did at most times when she was not rushing an excellent job. About 4 days ago an appt. Was set by my bridesmaid to get Gel mani and regular Pedi. When we got their surprising enough we were seated right away but here was the problem apparently Mimi was rushing my nails because she had to pick up her daughter. If that wasn't enough because she didn't allow enough time to set for the gel before she put the white, the white started cracking. Mind you my wedding is in two days and she continued on until I said look at how the white looks. She finally said ok I'll take them off. So far its been 45 minutes on the most uncomfortable massage chair ever. Now here's how the 2nd half of my grueling experience was I sat for 15 minutes while they took the gel off and mimi left telling me " trust me kelly will do a great job" well she was right for the first 10 minutes until Kelly's client came in and she ran to her right away and left me with tracy. At this point I was tired and now I've been there for 2 hours for GEL MANI !!!! At this point I wanted out of here! So my friend tried to ask for a little discount and Mimi ran to her and said WE DO FULL SERVICE FOR YOU!! At that point was when I saw the bright light saying never come back to this place because they don't know how to take care of their loyal customers as you can see from all other reviews. The place was clean and nice however I didn't think they were friendly at all. There was one lady that was really sweet but unfortunately I don't remember her name! Anyways, they were all talking really loud (except the sweet one doing my nails) and it was very annoying actually. They practically shouting to each other from across the room, I was getting pretty annoyed. They were rude and I felt so awkward there. I was totally not comfortable. The salon is nice and as stated they have a large vareity of colors as well as gel colors. The service is very sub par. The folks are not as friendly as I have experienced with other salons. Also when they were asked questions regarding the services they provide they in my opinion they were not educated enough on the services to clearly answer or there was a lanuage barrier. This place is no good. I used to go there all the time but stopped because I found them extremely inconsiderate of my time. I would make appointments and upon arrival, the people I was scheduled with were with other customers but not almost done or halfway through....It really frustrated me. If I have an appointment why would you start someone else at the same time or a few minutes before and keep me waiting? It didn't just happen once in awhile.It was constant. And when I tried to discuss the issue with them, it was just laughed off. I stopped going. Then every once in awhile in a pinch I'd stop in for a spur of the moment emergency manicure. Every time give them another try, I wind up dissapointed. The last time I went there about a week ago for just a manicure, the woman who did my nails was pressing soooo hard on my nail when she was pushing my cuticles it actually hurt, I seriously felt like she was intentionally trying to hurt me. The skin around my pinky nail was red and sore to the touch for a few days after the mani. After she finished the manicure, someone else stepped in to paint my nails. For some reason it didn't dry right and was sticky, never fully dried. I guess I learned my lesson. I will never ever ever go to Top Nails again. I didn't even mention the fact that she kept trying to sell me on acrylics. Just because I asked about the little sample board thingie that had different glitter colors on it. I can see if they want to offer you the deluxe or additional treatments etc. but if you're clearly not interested, how many times can you ask? You know...ridiculous. I kept telling her that acrylics are not my thing, no thanks.....they don't look good on me, they ruin your nails, etc. and LOOK fake NO matter what you tell me....and yet she wouldnt stop saying how many ppl. love them and how beautiful it is. I was like cool, ok, great, not my style but good for those who like it. I mean.....damn. Never. Ever. Ever. Again. I like to be taken care of. And treated w/ respect.
