This review is based on three visits. Jimmy does a wonderful manicure--probably the best I've ever had. I returned to him after going elsewhere, and he had to remove a thick layer of gel. He wasn't shy about pointing out how much work it was. On my third visit (today), however, the experience changed. He refused to see me, saying that I was too sensitive during gel removal. I've never had issues with gel removal before, but with him, I did flinch on one or two fingers because he seemed to go a bit too far. That said, it's not something that would have stopped me from coming back. I even had to ask--almost beg--him to remove my gel nails using acetone. He said it would take too long, but I told him I wasn't in a rush. When I asked again, I noticed the salon was nearly empty, with only one other customer who was already being helped. I'm not sure if this behavior was due to rudeness or possibly a language barrier, but after today's visit, I felt very unwelcome and unwanted. I did communicate this to them, because if this level of customer service continues, they may lose more customers. From what I understand, they've been in business for a long time, but each time I visit, the salon is mostly empty--except for who I assume is their son, who always seems to have a steady stream of clients. I really appreciate the convenience of the location--it's just two minutes from my home. I also genuinely like the quality of Jimmy's work, and the pricing seems fair for both the customer and the business. However, they need to improve their customer service, friendliness, and overall approachability. read more

I was way past due on a Pedicure and due to see a Podiatrist and didn't want to see him with my feet looking so terrible! Katie's Salon is nearby and I've always wanted to check them out, so I called to make an appointment and I was elated when they had space for me to come in! I arrived at my scheduled time, the parking lot is small sharing space with Fratelli's, and Candela's, and I believe a liquor store, however there was plenty of space for me to park. Upon entering I was greeted graciously and asked to choose a color and I chose a pretty hot-pink color since it's February. Once I chose they seated me at the pedicure chair that had some nice massage action on my tense muscles. I counted 4 or 5 Manicure stations and 2 pedicure stations. Everything looks clean and fresh and there is no chemical smell. My pedicurist did an excellent job with my feet, the only thing I wished was maybe a firmer massage on my feet, she was barely touching my feet and being too gentle. The price was very affordable compared to other salons. I will definitely be returning! read more

After over 7 months of treating my nails well thanks to Steven, I decided to give them a break and take off my gel polish so I can go back to the basics! Although Steven doesn't offer regular mani, he agreed to take off my gel + give me a regular mani for $25 which is a steal. Even though I was paying less than half of how much I usually pay, he still spent over an hour on my nails to ensure they looked clean and were to my liking! 30 secs after he finished, I managed to mess up my thumb and although his next client had arrived, he still took the time to take off the polish, do a base coat, 2 coats of polish, and a top coat for me! I was able to sit at a different place for 35-40 mins after he finished to ensure my nails were fully dry before leaving! I will definitely miss how amazing Steven made my nails look everytime and I'm sure I'll be back sooner than later!! read more

I didn't get het name but I figured since the place was named, "Katie's" that I was being serviced by the owner. Unfortunately, I had a terrible manicure and pedicure. The technician left residuals and didn't care that she didn't cut the cuticles evenly either. There was noticeable skin sticking out and when I pointed it out she acted impatient and said that it was a small piece of skin. After trying three more times to have her give me proper manicure (without nail polish), I gave up and said to her I'll do it by myself at home. Imagine if I had asked for nail polish. The polish would look horrendously uneven and rough on the nail residue! My nails looked better before going into this nail salon. I spent $41 dollars for a simple no polish manicure and pedicure and came out dissatisfied. read more

Honestly as a very DIY kind of girl I see no reason to drop 70 bucks for a mani pedi combo, but Jimmy and Amy prove me wrong. Like idk guys these guys are legit nail TECHS. Idk how they have managed to make to take my scrubby, measly peasant hands and feet into polished cute little things that makes guys stop, stare, even drool a little (gentleman caller had noticed and was pleased). Best part is because they do the whole process right the gel sets I get last about 3 weeks with my HEAVY duty clumsiness. Amy takes her time for a most thorough work but Jimmy is extremely fast and extremely good-- so if you're thinking of having a pro job done on your nails (or can just splurge the self care), choose your tech style accordingly. ACTUALLY HELFUL TIPS: (lol) 1. Extra parking in the back if parking is scarce 2. Bruh wear a mask. Or they will kick you out. Or buy a mask from them for $1. They're very sanitary here. 3. They prefer cash. It's an extra buck for card. 4. They do a genuinely amazing job so i always try to tip well. A gel job done by them right is a little over an hour long but honestly your nails and cuticles are shaped perfectly, the cuticle grows in gracefully and doesn't look ugly, and also the paint doesn't chip... until the next session. The first time I came to this salon was with my younger sister to get her nails done for prom and get my nails done as well. It was a very clean salon. They have comfortable chairs, and fans to dry your nails were touch sensitive, warm and unlike any fans I've seen at a salon. My nails dried very quick. The man who did my nails is awesome! Just got a pedi & stiletto/ claw acrylics with the husband & wife dynamic duo. I forget why I stopped coming here because they do such a great job. The last time I was here it was cash only but now they accept all cc except American Express (there is a $1 additional fee). They have a LOT of gel colors. It's an additional $15 on top of mani or pedi so I think a manicure with gel is $29 ($14 mani + $15 gel). I was sweating bullets when Jimmy was on that dremmel. Man that thing is loud, I'm not used to it! He was nice about though, just reminded me to relax so my fingers don't get tense. Overall they both did a thorough job. Perfect pedicure!! I called for prices and they were able to take me 30 minutes after my call. Great communication. $20 regular pedicure. The pedicure was very precise and gentle. The man who did my pedicure was very kind and did a great job. I like their preparation process and aftercare. They work pretty quickly but are still very thorough. Katie's nail salon is the BEST!!! They close at 7pm, but stayed late for my 6:30 spa French pedicure with flower design and French manicure appointment. It was so nice of them, especially since their only time off is after work because they work 7 days a week! Unlike many other nail salons, I could understand their English very well. They were very kind and caring with their job on my nails and with who I am and life experience. I felt like family. I can tell they pay attention to detail. I have only lived in LA for 2 months and have gone to 2 other nail salons. They were fine, but I wasn't that happy. Today I found my happy place, at least for my Nails Things I liked: 1. But after Jimmys work on my nails I have never once experienced a broken nail or a problem with his work. RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL I called before driving to their place and asked how much for manicure and pedicure after getting an answer i told the guy on the phone i was on my way he said OK. I get there, open the door and i see a lady and 3 guys doing nails, none of them greeted me so I'm just standing there for good 3 mins until the Lady looks up and says "WHAT YOU NEED?"
