Not once did they listen to my need. I had an appointment and over the phone I explained I wanted a color change no filing or drilling on top of nails, I asked before going in person if they would honor this request and they said yes. I got to the salon no wait only two other ladies sitting getting their nails done, I was helped by an older lady she asked me if i was getting a manicure I said "no thank you just color change" she proceeded to file my nails i said "please don't drill or file " and she right away got upset and began handling my hands like she wanted to rush the service. She proceeded to drill my hands and I felt pressured because I had already said no twice about a manicure and drilling so I allowed her to finish the job because I felt bad about waiting their time . I'm on my fifth day of my color change and the stickers I added on have peeled off I was charged more than 25 cents per sticker. The gel has also started to peel off. I don't think she could understand me but please improve on translating to those who find it difficult to communicate to customers. read more

I've had good service here in the past, but my most recent experience was really, really bad. I called and booked a pedicure and nail dip for 6pm on 12/29. Technician (sorry I didn't get her name, and techs don't wear name badges). Pedicure was fine but then she asked if I was getting a dip, and I said yes, if they still had time because the pedicure took a lot longer than normal and I know it was getting late but they did accept other customers later - around 7pm. So she started on my dip nails. I made the unfortunate mistake of selecting, for the first time, a dip color that was white woth sparkles. It became clear that my tech was not experienced in dip nails. Lovely Vicky left for the day and everyone else started leaving but a few stayed behind. Long story short, I was the last customer there and didn't leave ubtil 9:05pm. It took 3 hours for a pedicure and dip. My nails had so many layers and she then told me that she would need to dip again in a "clear powder" due to the sparkly color and the guy sitting next to her kept looking at my nails and having discussions that I didn't understand. She ended up putting a white dip powder which totally covered what i already had. It didn't go well so then she decided to just paint them with a gel paint that was not the color I had asked for but at this point I had been there for over 2 1/2 hours and I just wanted to get out of there. There were poor techs who had to sit there and wait until after 9pm for my tech to finish and I was so embarrassed and uncomfortable. I'd have said something to the owners but they had left: the tech had to call Vicky to confirm my Venmo went through which I do not mind but I wish I'd have had a chance to speak with her. My nails looked awful. They were too thick, and then filed down so many times. The end product looked like a glittery child's art project and my nails were uneven and the length on my two hands did not match. I was not at all happy and completely embarrassed to show my nails/hands to anyone: I was leaving the next day for a trip so I wasn't able to go back and show anybody or have the mess fixed. The only way I'd go back is if Vicky or one of the gentlemen did my nails. I never want to be held for over 3 hours in a nail salon ever ever again. read more

This visit with Top Nails is my last. I've loved going there for the past 2 years, but this time around was not pleasant at all. I made an appointment to be seen, yet I was at the salon for almost 3 hours. My pedicure is on point, but my full set is not. Vikki was so busy and continued to take in clients. I ended up with her husband since Tran is gone. He continuously argued about my nail length. I gave up and let him ride the wheel. I was too exhausted to continue to go back and forth with him. My nails ended being the length he liked. I also had asked for a specific nail set, but again, because Vikki was so busy I walked out with a solid color on my nails. I was not happy when I left the salon. I ended up back in the following day to get my nails cut/trimmed shorter. As Vikki is filing them down, she talks to her husband in their language, he comes out of their break room, and they both start dictating my nail length. Vikki filed my nails down in a rude manner, told me to wash my hands, and I left. It's sad to see this shop treat some loyal customers this way. read more

I came here for a pedicure last minute on a Tuesday at 4pm because my original place was busy. The pedicure was good enough/ okay. But the guy that did my pedicure had a rough hand and was very rough with my feet. It was late and my pedicure rushed for $50 because they were rushing to leave. When she finished up my foot massage she didn't get a warm towel just a dried one to wipe off oil from my legs and foot. Some of the people here might be good at their job but not the ones I've experienced. I've gotten manicures and pedicures here. In my most recent experience I decided to get a manicure and pedicure. I was not satisfied at all. I asked for regular nail polish since I'm giving my nails a rest from the nail drill. Mind you, I came in and had zero nail polish on my nails. They were clean. I've been growing them out since I had gel x nails 3 months ago and I wanted them to completely recover. Well, the person doing my manicure decided to use the nail drill on my nails. Why? It's regular nail polish. There is no need for a nail drill. I asked her to stop and she did. The damage on my nails was already visible. Ive done my nails 3x here now. I would definitely recommend them for acrylic nails. You have to make an appointment because they are always booked with repeat customers. They're the best (so far) from the 3 nail salons I have tried in Salinas. They take their time to ensure your nails are even and done correctly. They pay close attention to details. I have never had my acrylics lift, chip or break. On the other hand, I have also had a gel manicure done here. One nail chipped overnight and the others started chipping after a week. Weird enough only my nails on my left hand are chipped. My right hand is intact. Not sure what happened; might have been a fluke. Another downside would be wait time! Be prepared to spend up to two hours here. They usually get started on me 10+ minutes after my appointment slot. I think they overbook sometimes because I've had them step away from me to attend someone else and vice versa; this is what makes the appointment drag longer than it should. Don't think I'll get gel nails again but I will definitely be back for acrylics. read more

I have not been to a nail salon since my nail lady retired, over 10 years. Today I came here and was reminded why I stopped doing my nails. I asked the lady what the price was for a set and she proceeded to sit down and ask me what I wanted to have done, started my nails without saying another word about pricing. The nail technicians spoke their language amongst themselves, never making any effort to engage with the customer. Once I was done then technician pointed to the bathroom as if I was supposed to know it was time to wash my hands. I was asked how I would be paying, charged $45 and told I had to pay in cash or Zelle which I just saw another customer pay with her card but wasn't given that option. I wasn't even given the price ahead of time like I asked. I left her a tip even though I didn't think she deserved one and will not be going back. Why should a place with zero customer service be deserving of a tip when you feel like you are getting hearded like cows from station to station and zero effort trying to make conversation with customers. All you hear is them speaking to each other in their own language, awkward! read more
