For one thing labor to put them in isn't negligible. Tires I would also avoid. Unless its an emergency spare or maybe some other unusual case where you just need your car to roll. Check for date codes and sidewall damage. I once had to pay for a tire that was 20 years old just because I wanted the rim - that stunk - I paid for something I would have to pay $4 to get rid of at any tire shop. If you want some character building come here. Maybe you've got a young 18 year old in the family - new to life of cars. Come here to look around for crash safety - or come here to learn how to take things apart. I usually build confidence to work on my own cars once I've successfully taken something apart here. And with old brittle plastic you need practice and patience.
