Rebecca was helping the guests ahead of me understand the app, which I didn't even know existed--and they didn't either. It offers rewards like a free donut or drink and is a much better system than the old punch card. She took the time to explain it clearly, knew the products, and brought real enthusiasm. Warm yet professional. I also had the chance to meet Amanda, the district manager, who is clearly doing something right by finding and keeping people like Rebecca. I've been coming to this Top Pot Doughnuts location for a long time, and this may have been my best experience yet. And yes--the specialty donuts of the month are excellent. Some coworkers brought donuts from Top Pot Doughnuts to share. I tried out two of them: Bavarian Cream ($3.45) - Holy moly sweet, crazy sweet, mouth puckeringly sweet "chocolate" coating on top. I felt like I had to guzzle a gallon of water after eating a couple of bites. The cream itself is much less sweet than the icing and is smooth and custardy. Unfortunately it isn't centered at all in the donut, with one half entirely missing the cream pocket. The donut itself is a yeast donut, but I feel like the dough compresses quite a bit, making the donut very dense for a yeast donut. (3/5) Pink Rainbow ($2.95) - This one is a cake donut topped with a sweet, probably artificially flavored, icing. Maybe strawberry based on the color? It's hard to tell due to how cloyingly sweet is is, although it doesn't quite reach the levels of the Bavarian Cream. Since the bottom half is bare and unglazed, it tastes like fried dough, giving some respite from the sweetness. (3/5) The quality feels a bit higher than the typical classic donut shop that uses premix, but I guess I've outgrown these extremely saccharine sweet desserts. If it weren't for the pup treats and friendly service, this would be a 2-star review. The lone barista was super helpful, offered a pup treat when she saw the furry family member, and was genuinely kind. Having not had a Chai tea latte here before, we thought we'd give it a try. It definitely has a spice kick to it which was a nice surprise. Sadly, for this frigid day with temps in the high teens, the drink wasn't hot enough to warm up the walk back to the ferry line. I adventured to the Top Pot Doughnuts in Edmonds (at/near the Edmonds Ferry Terminal) for the first time on the morning of Thursday 23 March 2023. Shopping complex parking was abundant to the side and back of the building. Approaching the entrance on foot, a group of older men were standing and sitting around the door inside the entrance. They gave me a puzzled look when I reached for the front door and after opening and entering, one standing in the walkway would not move, so I just went around, they were not exactly the best exhibitors of mindfulness. The workers on the other hand were considerate and alert. As I scoped out the donuts, one worker waited, ready to get the specified donut(s). I ended up going with three, the maple frosted chocolate cake donut, a raspberry bismark, and a seasonal cherry fritter. The cashier worker was friendly and payment hassle-free. My bill came to $9.23, I paid cash. The stairway to an upstairs library area with seating was easy to find, so I decided to sit and try each of the donuts. A fellow customer came and set up a computer monitor to work at a table behind me as I ate. The cake donut was on the denser side, though not too heavy, and the maple frosting paired well. The cherry fritter was well cooked and had a subtle cherry flavor. For the raspberry bismark, the filling was very potent in raspberry flavor and the donut itself was light and fluffy to the point of airy in a good way. After eating about half of each donut, I made my way back to my car where I finished the cherry fritter and cake donut. I have always been a fan of Top Pot doughnuts. My first experience was at the Seattle location on the 35th ave. Their doughnuts were consistently delicious and a box of dozen doughnuts from Top Pot was always a welcome gift for whatever the occasion. I was elated to see it open in Edmonds waterfront. Earning bonus points from my kids is easy on a weekend by grabbing a dozen doughnuts from Top Pot for the fam. Maple bar, Bavarian cream, and various flavors are never overdone or overpowering. They are certainly not the best doughnut place and there are amazing bakeries out there with premium prices. Pleasantly surprised! Waiting in the ferry line (as you do) and across the street I saw a sign for doughnuts and coffee. I was hesitant at first because my previous experience with Top Pot had been somewhat lacking, but the thought of a fresh cup of coffee drew me in. I opted to try the salted caramel old fashioned and to my delight it was a delicious, well balanced sweet and salty treat. I would like a Bavarian cream donut, but they put chocolate on top of it. I actually do not like chocolate. And they don't have any other donut with Bavarian cream in it. It's an easy place to get to from the ferry. When I was traveling from Kingston to Edmonds I would stop just about every time I got off the ferry to get a donut, whether I wanted it or not. So there is an addictive quality to donuts. Most likely addictive in general and not necessarily to top pot. It's a sugar rush, thing right? I remember hearing about this brand of donuts when they were being sold a long time ago initially at Starbucks. It seemed like people were head over heels for Top Pot donuts. I would not classify them in my favorites by any stretch of the imagination. They are not as moist as I would prefer. However, you can get your "sweet tooth groove" on with a donut from here. And, it is super convenient for ferry-goers. And, is everyone knows my usual reason to give High marks is when the customer service is good. And they give good customer service, even though most of the time it's them leaning out of their window handing me my credit card slip to sign for the two donuts that I should not be eating in the first place. read more

When planning out where to go during my first trip to Seattle, a friend told me I had to try the Maple Bar at Top Pot. We stumbled upon this location while waiting for the ferry, so immediately decided this was our chance to try the highly-recommended doughnut. It didn't disappoint. My sister and i decided to get two doughnuts and split them. The Maple Bar was light, fluffy yeast with a tasty maple icing. We also got a a Cherry Cake Doughnut with Cherry Glaze. I love cherries, and this one was nice but a little artificial tasting. The Maple Bar was definitely the star. I'd love to try some of the other varieties - so many tasty options! read more

Honestly, can't see what all the hype is about. Heard so much about Top Pot being so great. That was not our experience. First the mocha. It didn't even taste like coffee, much less a mocha. The doughnuts? Meh. We got four, we finished two. Threw the cake doughnut away after a nibble. The thing that was supposed to be a Bavarian cream was pretty mediocre. The bakery in our home town - Cottage Bakery in Long Beach - blows this place away. Not even close. This place is not shabby but it also wasn't great either. I was in Edmonds enjoying some social distance sunshine + drove by them. I was struck by a craving for a doughnut so after much maneuvering, made it into their parking lot to get one. I opted for an apple fritter (around $3) and ate it before returning home. Sadly it was a little greasy and felt a little stale. This made me sad because the apples and cinnamon were well spiced. I doubt I'd return to them because I've never had great luck with TPD. Visiting the Edmonds Top Pot takes timing, because you don't want to be that person stuck in a line full of lollygaggers and folks gobsmacked by all the available doughnut choices. I'm a strategic shopper...in, pay, out, go! Or that person who didn't return to your vehicle in time during ferry loading. Let's earn the eternal wrath of WSF employees or the State Patrol. Not a brilliant move. Or that person having a moment of sheer bliss having a doughnut, then get run over by a city bus or the cars driving off the ferry. Just don't. To quote Homer, of the Simpsons variety, "mmmmmmmmmm doughnuts!" Or you plan ahead and have a gazillion sugar air bombs from Krispy Kreme before you get to the ferry terminal. Sleazy tactics, coffee flavored water. My wife and I were coming back from Anderson School one night, and as we were waiting for the ferry I noticed this place. Being a bit of a donut fanatic, I won't skip a chance to try a place that seems to be quality or unique. Unfortunately they were closed at the time and we live in East Bremerton. Nevertheless, the next day I was excited about that place, told my kids about it and showed them the menu. We were all on board. Hopped back in the car, grabbed the ferry all the way back over to this place (yes, I'm that serious about donuts). It was roughly 10:00 am by the time we got there. They had about two dozen random donut holes and about a dozen donuts left of nobody's favorite (random cake and fruit flavored type donuts, crème filled, etc.). I wasn't upset about that at all, I know the early bird gets the best donut. What happened next was what floored me. As I walk up to the counter, an employee (female, overweight, late 20s. Don't believe anything she tells you) says to me "hey heads up guys this is all we have left for the day." I said, that's fine I will take it all. To that she then made this announcement to the other employees (literally yelled it across the store) "hey guys we're officially sold out of everything up front okay? Last of the donuts are being sold now." We bought our donuts and got a couple coffees, chai, hot chocolate. This is where the fun part comes. We sit down and wait for our coffee. We get it and every single one of them taste like water with a little bit of chai flavoring. Even the hot chocolate was water. When I looked over to see if the employee was there to ask about this drinks, she was nowhere to be found, but all the other employees start bringing out racks and racks of fresh donuts! All varieties and types in the menu were now all the sudden "available." I was just like "wtf." I asked another employee why was I lied to and what was that all about. He just shrugged. Like seriously wtf. I sent an email to this store specifically asking if this is their tactic or if it was there employees. I didn't want anything done for me, just an acknowledgment of the issue. It's been like 2 weeks? Nothing. This place isn't special. They seem sleazy and seem to just be making garbage under a name that maybe meant something around here at one time. Perfect donut and perfect latte (far better coffee than Starbucks, at least). Sure, it's not cheap, but it's literally 5 trillion times better than the cheap donut places. I love a simple cake donut and that's how this place really excels. The location has a parking and a drive-thru, which is a blessing when you have a sleeping baby in the car and really want a delicious donut and coffee. The ferry is next door, as well, so if you are waiting in the ferry line and want a treat this is a great decision (although be aware there may be a line). There's also a beach nearby and waterfront boardwalk good for strolling with coffee in-hand. All in all, a fabulous Edmonds addition. read more

This is a fantastic location. I would give it five stars alone for the chocolate cake donuts. The donuts are superb--better than Dunkin Donuts on the East coast (which is saying a LOT). My husband got a dozen donuts for $19.99. He snagged six of my favorites. Fifteen minutes later I walked in to use the restroom and get a mocha. The unisex restrooms were clean. I took a picture of the donut case and noticed three more chocolate cake available. The staff are very good at refreshing the inventory in the case. The major drawback from where I stand is the mocha; it did not tasted like chocolate. I asked her to add more chocolate syrup and it is still a sub-par mocha. read more

I went here while waiting for the ferry. I would recommend someone staying at the car so it can be moved if something happens. If your are walking, then everything is less stressful ;D If you are one of the first arriving, then everything is going to be fast. If not, you will have to make a line and wait until coffee for other customers is ready. I noticed they have plenty of staff but sometimes they don't know how to communicate or organize. Don't know if it's because they are kind of interns or they are new or what. Sometimes they would just be watching waiting for their turn instead of picking orders. They have a huge variety of donuts in the counter and racks. They looked pretty yummy. I had the basic ones and they were ok. I went for the ovaltine too. It wasn't what I was hoping. I think a regular moka or chocolate would do better. But I guess I had to try to get to this conclusion ;D The decor is simple but has plenty of light and it was clean :) A lot of tables. We got some old fashioned ones which are usually my favorite but they were just okay tasting here. The donuts were all fresh but not that much flavor. The chocolate raspberry and chocolate Oreo were the best so I recommend any chocolate donut here if you're craving donuts or need to kill time in the ferry line.
