A little gruff, made me feel like my first visit was mildly inconvenient for them. It happens, we all have bad days, but first impressions do stick a little. Also, I was completely unprepared for the broccolini to be cut up and served in a circular shape but it's mixed with this really creamy and slightly spicy chili sauce that is so flavorful - and it also has a nice balance of sweetness with the dates. The dough and the flavors of the mushroom pizza were also amazing! I just loved how chewy the dough was. It had fantastic texture and bite/chew to it! All around, I thought that it was the most amazing place I've been for pizza. The only thing I didn't love was that sitting outside meant that once our food arrived, there were a few bees swarming around trying to also eat our food (it was just that good). We were the only ones in the store so we had the whole place to ourselves. It was nice, but also a bit awkward. The store manager/owner was definitely knowledgeable when it comes to honey and a bit of friendliness would have gone a long way. I do appreciate the cute storefront and how neat everything was. We ended up with 3 little jars of honey and the chocolate honey caramels to take on the road.

Inside is pretty small to order. It is really cute how it's like a mini market with wine and other items. We for sure went wanting to try their matcha affogato which we got. We also got some of their pastries and a simple plate which was perfect for me. Everything was really good. We absolutely loved the matcha affogato. We are really glad we went. Overall, cute place. We go up to Ojai to walk so this will stay on our list to stop at when we go up.

I did also see they had a matcha affogato so I had to get that to try. All the flavors we got where so good - Amethyst, Jolly Merman, OM, Pink. My husband and I have different likes so the one I didnt like he liked and the one he didnt like I liked. It worked out. The matcha affogato was perfect. Ice cream was delciious. Like previously, workers were super sweet and friendly. We sat outside because we had our dogs and they were nice and brought the drinks out to us. Overall, my husband and i still love this place. I also mentioned a food allergy, and she made a point to reassure me that everything had been taken care of, which I really appreciated. Our food also came out relatively quickly. We ordered the Tuna Tartare Tartine, Aguachile, Japanese Sweet Potato, and Hanger Steak. Everything was delicious, but the Tuna Tartare Tartine and Hanger Steak were the standouts for me. Both were especially flavorful and memorable. We also tried the Pavlova for dessert. It was probably the weakest part of the meal for me, but the passionfruit flavor was still interesting and I'm glad we tried it. If you're coming without a reservation, I'd recommend arriving as close to opening as possible to get a better spot on the waitlist. The nice part is that they text you when your table is ready, so there are plenty of nearby shops and a park to walk around while you wait. There's free street parking around the restaurant, and we also found a nearby public lot within a short walk. Overall, Rory's Place was definitely worth the visit to Ojai, and I'd happily come back.
