As we're from New York City, my wife Pat and I have had a lot of Chinese food, from Chinatown to the Bronx. Now living in southeastern Connecticut, we had modest hopes to find something decent but were sorely disappointed...until we found Top's China. Yes, Top's China...a tiny take-out, delivery place inside a small mall in Pawcatuck. We've eaten from their menu three times, and have been pleased each time: terrific moo goo gai pan, tasty cold noodles with peanut sauce, broccoli with pork fried rice that tasted like it was from Chinatown's Mott Street. It's the opposite of pretentious but don't let it's modest setting fool you. They've got the best Chinese food in southeastern Connecticut. read more

For a quick "place an order and pick up" Chinese place, Top's China is very good. I usually get the same thing-Egg rolls and sesame chicken. The egg rolls are very tasty and come two in an order. The sesame chicken comes with broccoli and white rice. The chicken has a light coating (which I like) and just the right amount of sauce with a good flavor. This is the only Chinese restaurant we order from. As Chinese New Yorkers we are super picky. My father from New York requests their Singapore Mei fun every time I visit. He thinks its the best one he's ever eaten. And he used to be in the restaurant business. The Singapore mei fun is a spicy curried rice noodle(thin kind) it has chicken, roast pork, huge chunks of the imitation crab, large shrimps and veggies. I think I got a small piece of lobster a few times. Maybe it depends in who makes it or it they have it on hand. Lots of places use a lot of fillers in their dishes. But not here. Just enough scallions and onions to make every thing taste divine. My favorite dish is one of the specialty dishes. Its called "Crispy Shrimp " its battered and fried and the doused in a spicy tangy sauce. I eat it over white rice because I think the fried rice will take away from the flavors. And the shrimps they use are huge and fresh. Also their boneless roast pork is sooooo delicious. Trust me on this. I'm sure every one reading this review will agree. Their fried rice is good as is almost every dish we've tried. If you like your veggies softer make sure you tell them to cook the veggies more. They serve them on the fresher crisp side. I also like the honey chicken which is THIN slices of chicken breast covered in a honey sauce. Kid pleaser. There's not much room to dine in. I think just 2 tables. But if you're waiting for a prescription next door (rite aid I think) then come on in. They cook pretty fast. read more

I'm a big fan of this Chinese restaurant in the area. Their lunch specials are extremely affordable ($6.55!) and give you quite a bit of food. Additionally, everything I have ordered from here I have thoroughly enjoyed (which I cannot say about most other places I'be been to in the area). I really enjoy their wontons in their wonton soup (probably some of the best take out wontons I've had) and I appreciate how their broth is fairly tasty without being overly salty like some other places. I also really like their steamed dumplings, boneless spare ribs, lo mein, beef or chicken with broccoli (their broccoli is really good honestly, fresh and tasty), hot and sour soup, and beef egg foo young. I want to try their Singapore mei fun and other dishes when I order again! One funny thing I like about this place is that the food is almost always ready in 15 minutes. Sometimes they don't ask for a name when you order on the phone so when you show up you identify by what you ordered (or at this point i think they just recognize me and my order). They've never messed up my order so I'm not complaining :) read more

Nope. No thank you. I ordered the shrimp in garlic sauce that came with egg roll and fried rice. I also ordered the crab Rangoon and beef teriyaki sticks. Rice had barely any pork or veggies. Egg roll was actually spring roll that was way over cooked. Crab Rangoons were practically empty which was sad since they had a good flavor. Shrimp in garlic sauce was the only good thing but for the 20+ I needed to spend for delivery it was soooo not worth it. Beef sticks were just okay. read more

Tops is the tops for a Chinese food in the Stonington Pawcatuck Westerly area. Wow they are not very communicative, they are very nice people once you get to know them. I find their take-out meals to have plenty of fish pork beef and chicken in their dishes. read more

The food will exceed your expectations! We ordered the Kung Pao Chicken and Hunan beef. Spicy hot! prepare to go down the circles of hell as some of their dishes can send you for cruel ride and I loved it! The staff seemed indifferent about our presence, but they prepared our order fairly quickly and the atmosphere was pleasant. Rude, ignorant woman answers the phone, obviously the owner or the owners wife, never gives an order total and always hangs up right away after giving your order. Very impatient, disrespectful manner. This place is nothing short of a headache to order from, especially when they screw up your order, as it has happened a few times. Do yourself a favor and don't buy Chinese in this area. By far, it's the worst when it comes to Chinese food. It's all terrible, soggy, bland and questionable. I've tried all locations in the area multiple times hoping for a different result. China pavilion probably your best option but extremely inconsistent (and questionable meat). This place ranks as one of the worst. Sauces are watered down. Literally. General Tso tastes like bland sweet and sour chicken. The "fried rice is just... rice. Beijing dumpling has good dumplings but fried rice and noodles are throw away quality. I can go on about the others but it's all the same story so I will save you the time. Health department needs to do a round of surprise visits in this area for sure. read more

Second time ordering from here. We had the boneless spare ribs and beef with Chinese vegetables combo plates. Funny thing is, I always order boneless spare ribs for myself and beef with broccoli or Chinese vegetables for my husband, but we ended up switching this time. He thought the ribs were pretty good while I liked the crispy veggies and not too greasy brown sauce better. Roast pork fried rice was good - not greasy at all, but it lacked some of the stuff that I am used to in any fried rice (scallions, scrambled eggs). What I liked most about it was the fact that it wasn't overly doused with soy sauce. Overall, pretty good. Would def go here again. read more

The best Americanized Szechuan Chinese in town. The pork fried rice was very flavorful, and my General Tso's chicken was perfect; crispy, sweet/savory, with a kick! Price was good for lunch, and the dinner portions were large. read more

I bought $52 worth of food and won't eat most of it. I got a general tso combo, the chicken was dry and tasted funny so much so that I couldn't even eat it. My husband ordered the fried scallops and they fried it too long and the scallops insides were dry and rubbery. The curry with onion was good but nothing to say omg i have to have it again. The pupu platter was reasonably priced but it comes with exactly 2 of what is in it. We got another dish that had lobster and other seafood, but my husband was afraid to try it after not having much success with the food we already tried. Normally his plates is finished with only specs of rice, this time his plate was almost full upon finishing. I tried this restaurant in hopes of finding a great new place, now I just wish I hadnt spent the money I did. Very disappointed :( read more

Food was delicious and fresh but not in a way that really got me excited to order again. Also the language barrier was too much to be able to give delivery address and payment info over the phone.
