I have seen plenty of negative reviews about this location. For me though, I have never had a issue with shopping here. I normally come early in the morning, around 5am right before I go to work. So the store is fully stock, and produce is very fresh. I also like this location due to the fact Citizens Bank is here as well. read more

Tops is seemingly the main competition for Wegmans in this area. It's everywhere. It is a standard, chain style grocery store. Deli, bakery, and all the normal grocery store type things. This particular location also has a dry cleaners. And despite everything here being terribly expensive, the dry cleaner is rather cheap, gives military discount, and is open 7 days a week. So if for nothing else, I'll be taking my uniforms here weekly. Gotta stay lookin sharp ya know. read more

Not a fan but I shop here for items I need at the last minute or forgot at their local competitor. I find some of their sales deceptive and inconvenient for persons who do not need two of a particular item. For example today strawberries are on sale but one get one for $5.79. They do not sell them at 1/2 the price if you buy one. Yes a deal if you want two. The same sized strawberries at their competition is $3.99. My elderly mother and I'm sure others do not need two containers. So they either buy the two they don't need, buy one and over pay or pass on something they want. For convenience I'm forced to shop at a Tops for my mother as I do this during a monthly doctor visit that I take her too. Shopping regularly at their competitor I'm amazed at the price difference on many products. Beyond the prices they just don't come close in customer service or the shopping experience their competitor provides. If their prices were more in line with the competition, being they are the only supermarket in my town, I would give them more of my business. read more

I flatter them by giving them one star. This is a very tiny market for a TOPS they are expensive and leave much to be desired. Their deli fried and rotisserie chickens are pretty much the same as anyone else and I go to the market only to pick up the chickens when I have to. Unfortunately those of us on grand island I don't have a lot of choice. Why would anyone shop here if they didn't have to? Many of us on Grand Island would kill literally kill to have an AL DI Wegmans or Trader Joe's. The only people I know the job here are those who hate to leave the island. They have BOGO So-called deals I bought their assorted frozen fish selection a few weeks ago it was very mediocre at best it was a fair price but lousy so why buy it. If you do buy their meat you're not really saving very much if you shop wisely you can do better elsewhere. Choices in produce are very limited And they carry few if any really upscale items. read more

This Tops is really nothing special when you compare it to the vast selection at other stores. The store is clean and it does carry a fair amount of groceries. The carry out, the pizza often looks like it has sat under the heat lamp all day. The staff often seems like they aren't having fun. I guess this is what happens when you are the only player in the game on Grand Island. read more

They offer a service where they bring your grocery purchase to you car. We ordered with this service due to the current virus danger. After waiting in the car 15 minutes, I get a message from them that they have no one to bring the order out, and to come in the store to get my order. If I was comfortable coming into the store to get my order, I would have just shopped for it myself. Why offer a service that you cannot fulfill. I guess it takes a crisis like this to show how inept some business's are. This store is fortunate that Wegman's will never come here because we are to small of a community. This has nothing to do with pricing . I only go in few a few items at a time. It's about the employees.They are not friendly or appear very happy at their jobs.I don't blame them but blame management for not recognizing this and correcting it.Wegmans by comparison in the Falls is totally different as the employees are friendly and kind.The Tops store is very clean,has a great bakery and is very convenient just need friendly. read more

It's a grocery store with a PlayPlace inside for kids (yay!). Gas station is outside in the parking lot, but like with all things on the island, the prices are a little bit higher here than if you drive another 5 - 10 miles in either direction. Service is relatively friendly (like all Tops Markets). Wine Store and a dollar store are in the same parking lot!!! read more

Just had a terrible experience at Tops on grand island. They only had express lanes and self checkout lanes open so we had to use the self checkout lane because we had to many items. I had to purchase bags because I forgot my reusable ones. I was almost done scanning my items when the lady from desk yells over did you pay for those bags. With the paper bags you have to add them to the order at the end of your order right before you pay. The paper bags do not have a bar code so you cant scan them. So I told her I was putting them on my order at the end. She said nothing so I asked her if that was ok because I wanted to make sure I wasn't doing anything wrong and she still did not give me answer. Just about the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Very disappointed in Tops on grand island very likely to never go there again. read more

I HATE THIS STORE everything is overpriced and the fluorescent lighting hurts my eyes. I'm not tryna lose my vision at my ripe age of 18. The vibes in here are NOT IT. The manager is so rude omfg. I'm not about to name drop but you know who you are. Starts with an H.... Should I keep going? She's so rude to her cashiers and the customers and always picks favorites. Anyway why is this place so expensive like seriously I drop like $50 every time I wanna buy a couple of snacks. I hate that it's the only grocery store on the island. It's like they're leaving us with no choice but to go to Tops because it's closer. I hate it and I feel trapped. Some of the young cashiers are nice because they're not miserable like the adults that work there. There is already too much hate in this world for that one manager Steve to frown at everyone and be creepy and rude. Don't even get me started on that cart boy named Bill. He is a pedophile. He preys on underage girls and makes everyone uncomfortable. Please fire him, Tops. I have to speed-walk past him in the parking lot just to avoid making eye contact. I'm not even afraid to name drop anymore. He makes me feel very unsafe. He needs to stop flirting with the young cashiers, most of which are 15-17 years old. He is literally 34 years old. Very little selection, prices are high, produce is wilted or bruised. The customer service is rude, and their store policies are ridiculous. The only reason I shop here is because it's near my house, and I only go in if I'm low on a basic staple (like milk or butter). I do all my main shopping at wegmans and Sam's. To start with a positive, the store has good hours especially if you need medicine or something late at night or early morning, their gas station is competitively priced and gas points do help. I come to this Tops pretty often and I have a few issues. Their prices are much higher than other super markets in the area and even other Tops. With that being said, my produce is always going bad in a day or two, especially if it's on sale. I will never buy strawberries from them again, as I have seen mold of the produce when it on the shelves way too often. That makes me think it's only on sale because they have to sell it or throw it out. I have more than once purchased "woody" chicken from there, and considering their chicken is over five dollars a pound, I am truly unhappy with the quality of product. Wegmans has chicken for 1.99 a pound every day. I also once asked an employee for a serving spoon to get something out of their limited cold bar, when she told me to use the spoon already available in another dish, I had to explain to her about cross contamination. I do feel that the business takes advantage of the people on Grand Island because it's the only supermarket unless you cross the bridge. They are also consistently out of stock in items and stock them sporadically. read more

Worst store ever. Spend 5 extra minutes and go over bridge to Wegmans. Customer service and checkout is excellent there. By the time you get through the 1 checkout line they have open you can be to Wegmans and back home. Carry out hasn't gotten an order right in 20 years. Anything but Tops would be welcome here. Even the dirty Bells from years ago. Extremely overpriced. They should be ashamed of themselves. Wish I could have given it zero stars. read more

Not a big fan of this particular Tops market, but I live on grand island and when I need something quick it's the only grocery store around. It seems like a bunch of teenagers run the store U ask somebody where something is and nobody knows and they don't take you to it I worked for years for grocery business and I was always told when a customer asked for something you walk them to it. They had a great employee Nick and another one Zack but like all great people they come and go through Tops only the ones going nowhere seem to stay. I'm giving them one star today because for me the icing on the cake was I wanted to buy an already made chicken from the deli and I went over there and the one they had that I wanted had no tag on it so I asked the woman to make a tag they had a problem and it took about five minutes to get a tag as I was waiting I noticed the flavor of chicken I've never heard of and I'm sorry I can't remember what it is so I asked "oh what does that taste like" she said "I don't know "and shrugged her shoulders if you cook something shouldn't you know what the heck it taste like? She said "different herbs"...LMAO seriously?? I wish some other grocery stores would come onto the island and today was just a reminder as why I hate this Tops! One year my daughter's birthday I was going to get her a cake and I was going to get pizza and chicken wings and stuff from Tops on Grand Island when I called to inquire about the cake the rude girl in the bakery told me, "you'll have to come in and look I don't have time " so I went to Wegmans in Niagara Falls who told me what they had over the phone and I got my pizza and wings from out there too so Tops lost quite a bit of money. If I didn't live on Grand Island I would never step foot in that store!! read more
