We stopped in after leaving the Dollar Tree. We were immediately greeted by the lady working at the register. We walked straight back and picked a cup. My daughter and I each picked ours based on the color/decoration. We then went and looked at all the flavors to pick from!!!! I picked Pineapple Whip and my daughter picked Cake Batter. Then we went to select our toppings! I put a few cheesecake bites on mine. She picked strawberry popping boba, fruity rice crispies and some rainbow sprinkles! I was really excited to come here, but unfortunately it was kind of a letdown. The frozen yogurt flavors were all melted and I tried 4 different flavors and somehow managed to taste like absolutely nothing... which is almost impressive? Like, how do you make flavored yogurt have zero flavor? Even the fresh whipped cream joined in on the confusion,it looked great but tasted like nothing. After trying a sample of the Sweet Coconut(Non Fat) Froyo I was hooked and knew exactly which flavor I wanted!! It taste like fresh coconut! I then proceeded to of course load my bowl to the brim with their amazing toppings! Did I mention they have color changing spoons? As soon as it hit the frozen yogurt, it magically changed from yellow to orange, which matched my bowl perfectly! I would highly recommend this location that opened 14 years ago! They are known to have the largest amount of high quality froyo flavors and toppings in the greater Sacramento area! And I also noticed they focus on healthier options since all of their froyo flavors were either non-fat, low fat, sugar free or non-dairy! An employee behind the counter used her bare hands to grab yogurt chips from the topping station, filled her own cup, and started eating--right in front of customers. The yogurt is mediocre and I think this place could be a lot more popular because of the location. I saw there was an effort to have clean, single use serving spoons for the toppings. The inside seems clean but there's something I can't quite put my finger on that makes me feel something is a little off in the cleanliness department. The patio seatings are definitely covered in old yogurt and we had to bring our own Clorox wipes to clean it down. I'm not sure if the woman we've met on different occasions is the owner but she is never friendly towards us and seems annoyed whatever we even try to make friendly conversation. The old guy behind the counter had his mask on, unfortunately he doesn't know how to wear it so it was half off his face with his nose exposed. All the toppings and yogurt dispensers are touched by everyone, without cleaning or changing in between. Absolutely disgraceful with their lack of care I usually see in nearly all stores and restaurants across California. This place is a corona virus hot zone just waiting to happen. If you have any concern about your health or that of your loved ones, stay away from this dump. Shame on the owners for the complete disregard for public health and safety and for violating current public health standards and regulations. I've been coming to Tops since it first opened in this location. It's always been a great place. Many great and numerous selections. On this visit (Sept 2022) the yogurt could have been more frozen as it was pretty thin (for lack of another word) and starting to melt in the bottom of the cup. Usually the yogurt is thicker and without any gast melting where it looks like a little milk in your cup. I know that on very hot days this is just a problem with all frozen yogurt and ice cream places but it wasn't particularly hot that day. And the price seems to have really climbed of late. Yogurt shops have steadily raised their prices on consumers but Tops is definitely on the higher end of that spectrum. I believe every froyo place I've been to posts their prices, usually by the weight, e.g. 45 cents per ounce, but I didn't see a price and the higher cost may be why. Overall it's a great place to go and there aren't many choices in this area. read more

We were the only customers in the store at the time. 2 of the yogurts were liquid when we added to our cups- then afterwards the woman working said oh they will be ready in 20 minutes. Disappointed she just didn't say that to us initially. I probably will not go back. If spending $10 for a standard size FroYo with toppings isn't bad enough, the last two times we came in, when we went to dispense our flavor of choice, the owner asked if we could "wait a few minutes" while she turned the unit back on and the yogurt got solid enough to dispense!!?? We thought that maybe this was a unique situation but the next two times we came in, SAME THING!! What? We have to wait while you get the yogurt cold/hard enough to dispense? How tight are you as a business that you are turning off your freezing units when there's no one in the store (to save $?), then make your customers wait while you freeze the yogurt again? I think at $10 a Yogurt, you can afford to keep your freezing units ON WHILE OPEN FOR BUSINESS! Do NOT go here. My daughter got charged $2 for a tip on our credit card she did NOT authorize. I only of heard of this tonight. She threw away her receipt. We hardly go to this location for yogurt already because of the huger cost compared to other shops, but I allowed her to go to TOPS after her Rocklin high dance with friends. They are struggling to stay open during this pandemic just like the rest of the mom and pop places all over the country. Has a really nice selection of choices and has colorful spoons which is nice when taking kids. But after coming in twice, one of the workers took it upon herself to touch my child's hair when asking about their days. The next time we went. I prepped my kids to tell them to say that if the same lady is working to say "no thank you, please don't touch my hair". Fortunately it was a different worker, however, this worker was Much worse. I have been fighting the froyo by the ounce trend and today I finally gave in. We chose Tops not only for the 5 star Yelp rating, but they had a bogo coupon in the Entertainment book. They also accept competitor coupons from Rocklin or Lincoln. The place is spotless, for real. There was only one lady working there and the moment she wasn't waiting on a customer, she was wiping down machines and counters or chopping fresh fruit. She was really on it. Plus she was very patient with my 4 hyper kids wanting to sample flavor after flavor. The yogurt was creamy smooth with lots of flavors to choose including no sugar added and dairy free. Tons of bins of candies and other toppings, plus fresh fresh fruit, syrups, whipped cream, etc.- the combinations are endless. Fun place! We always take our visiting guests here when they visit from out of town. It's definitely gone up in price. I think it started out at 28 cents an ounce when they first opened their location in Elk Grove. Now it's gone up to probably 46 cents an ounce. The cool thing is that they take competitors coupons from Rocklin (like in the Entertainment Book, etc). They won't take Roseville coupons though, FYI. They also have a frequent buyer punch card that helps. Tons of great flavors and you can ask for a sample cup to try a few flavors too. Tons of toppings including fresh fruit, candy, chocolate, mochi, and these cool "poppers" that kinda blow my mind. It's like eating a bubble. I'm mesmerized by them! My husband LOVES their "world's best whipped cream." The hard hat topping is pretty cool too---it reminds me of the Magic Shell stuff that came out when I was growing up. It's a chocolate topping that turns into a hard shell. Probably chock-full of chemicals but definitely fun to try! The employees are super friendly. The owner is this nice Indian lady who always has a smile on her face. The Elk Grove location is usually run by her daughters. Haven't seen the husband (who is Caucasian) for a few years---he's probably busy running all their locations (they have 4--two in Elk Grove, one near Howe/Arden and one in Rocklin)! Kiwi and blackberry was fine, didnt try the candy. They could've had more yogurt flavors as all the machines weren't full but I was still happy with selection and it was tasty. So disappointing... I had a gift certificate that I won several years ago. Because I was living outside the area and recently moved to Roseville I decided to bring my son in for yogurt to redeem my certificate today. The lady at the counter who I imagine is probably the owner or manager denied my use of the certificate saying it was too old even though it has no expiration and has the address clearly stated on the certificate. I told my son we couldn't have yogurt today from there and walked out. She threw away our filled cups. Wasted her company's own yogurt and 2 happy customers. I don't recommend this place at all. Very clean establishment, super friendly service and about a million toppings! I think this is our new go-to self-serve yogurt place! We have tried a few other yogurt/frozen treats places in the area and I think this is the best. The place is not the best looking inside, a little janky, which is fine. The yogurt is good and there are a lot of topping options. My son loves the color changing spoons! The reason for the low rating is the owner. She is very very sweet and friendly, but the last time we went in we sat inside to finish our yogurt and she had gone into the back. When we were walking out to our car she was sitting outside a few feet away from where we were parked smoking a cigarette. Would normally not think too much of it, but I am (obviously) pregnant and it really got to me, made me sick and had a headache for 3 days after so not something I've easily forgotten. There's no way she didn't see us, and didn't put the cigarette out or move away or anything. There has to be a better area to smoke, or at least try to accommodate your paying customers. Just had a Eurotart yogurt which I get every time and it tasted horrible (like sour milk flavor)!!! I tried calling the number to let them know it was spoiled (or something) but the phone just rings and rings. They need a functioning phone so customers can let them know when something get a hold of you. Also wouldn't be a bad idea to have some quality system in place so you're not selling bad/spoiled product to your customers. read more

This place used to be good. The last few times my family and I have gone we have been very disappointed. Not sure if there is new management or what. But it is not as good as it used to be. The old manger seemed to care about the business and was very sweet and outgoing to her customers, but the employee or manger that we have seen lately is not very kind and short with you. The yogurt did not taste very well. I got vanilla and it tasted fruity. Wondering if they don't clean the machines as well as they should and I was tasting old yogurt. The toppings were also very stale. For all of these issues, it was very expensive. 3 yogurts for 21 dollars and we did not go over the top with toppings. We are disappointed as we are walking distance and it's very convenient but we will not be returning as there are too many negatives with this place.
