I've always had it as a pick-up experience when my co-workers and I would get afternoon sweet cravings and one of us would pick up. And now that the weather is warming up here in Roseville the shop is obviously busy. There are definitely a plethora of yummy flavors to choose from. I chose Coffee Chocolate Chip which is a specialty ice cream and although the line was pretty long I was able to get to the counter at a decent time. There were plenty of workers to assist. I was handed my ONE scoop on a cake cone... and I forgot how huge these scoops can be since I haven't been in a while. Sooo good! It's the only type of coffee I'll take (I'm not a coffee drinker LoL!) Warm evening so Stopped off to try this Ice Cream place my daughter has been raving about. Rightfully so, The person serving us was very nice and helpful in suggesting flavors. Handel's always sets up a mobile station at an outdoor concert I attend. It's a welcome addition, especially in hot weather. They have a limited choice yet what they provide is a worthwhile selection. I usually get a combination of chocolate and butter pecan. The ice cream is super smooth, creamy, and rich. Very delicious and refreshing. A nice option to a cocktail which is also available elsewhere. This time the butter pecan was chocked full of tasty pecans. Yum! The guys who typically serve aren't all that engaging or friendly. It's all business and they don't seem to enjoy it. Another issue I have is the price. My family including is obsessed with Handel's lately. I am not a huge ice cream lover, but this ice cream is certainly unique and of premium quality. Family favorite flavors are: Graham central Station, O Dough or anything cookie dough and the Orange dream flavor. The weird thing about this place is the choices of scoop size. If you want a small cup with two different flavors they charge you for a medium. I ordered one scoop, it was the smallest scoop I've ever seen. Maybe 1/4 cup? This Handel's is huge! My man got a coconut ice cream that seemed to have Samoa Girl Scout cookies, chopped up in it. I thought it was incredible until I tried the pecan praline, knocked my socks off! Shout out to the nice girl at the counter that recommended it to me. We asked if we could get a cup of water and they gave us a little cups, but you have to fill them up at the water fountain that's near the bathroom. By the way, the bathroom was very dirty, somebody had pooped all over the place and there were no paper towels in there. You could even smell it out by the water fountain so I was a little grossed out. I did go into the other bathroom, which was much cleaner and washed my hands before I ate my tasty snack. Who doesn't love Handel's? I've been to several other locations, but this was my first time visiting the one in Roseville. I received the same excellent service that I have experienced elsewhere. On this visit, I tried the Coconut Caramel Delight, which is a perfect blend of coconut ice cream with a caramel ripple, coconut flakes, and coconut cream cookies. It tasted exactly like a Samoa cookie! The staff was fast, friendly, and very helpful with the menu. I enjoyed sitting on one of the many outdoor benches at dusk to enjoy my ice cream. read more

Some of the best ice cream I have had! The texture is smooth and creamy. It does taste fresh and the chocoholic chunk was perfect balance of dark chocolate and chunky chocolate pieces. The waffle cone is thin so you dont have too much cone but it holds up great. The set up is nice because as you walk in you are guided around to the counter and have time to view the menu and ice cream flavors. They offer 2 menus with sections for Chocolate, Vanilla, fruit, and vegan flavors. This makes it easier to pick because you just have to choose the base. It was hot today. Like 100+ and a long ride home. What to do? Get ice cream for the road. Handel's is a longtime favorite in the Sac area. And they bring the ice cream yummy goodness. Since I was driving I decided on a shake. They make a shake out of any ice cream they have. And you can add malt or make them extra thick. Wow. I chose the graham cracker ice cream and added malt. Super good. The consistency was thick enough. I could drink the shake withiut getting brain strain from all the sucking. Haha. It was blended nicely and you could still taste all the ingredients. Super good. I also love the Taro Ice Cream. Not super sweet but the Taro was the star. There deifinitely chunks of taro in each bite. One of the better versions I've had. Service moved well. At this time they had 3 or 4 workers taking requests and making each order to serve. I could see this being very effective if the line got long. The long counters make servicing large groups very easy. The place is pretty simple and kind of had a throw back setting. Nothing fancy, just set the order in and get the people their ice cream concoctions. The menus are pretty detailed and they have so many flavors. The only thing that is confusing is that one door is for the exit one doors for the entrance. You stand along the wall and pole where you just line up in a big line. Sooo creamy. Randomly decided to stop in on a Friday evening since I was nearny. There was a short line that got longer as time passed. I decided to try the taro and mud pie flavors. Both were really good and super soft and creamy. Decided to get both flavors. I asked if you could get like a half scoop of each, but the scooper said you can only get one flavor in a small, and two flavors in a medium. So I got the medium and the servings are quite large. Definitely some of the best ice cream I've ever had! The employees were really friendly and let me try as many samples as I'd like. I tried the chocolate oh-dough and the chocolate chip cookie dough flavors. Both were sooo good, it was hard to choose which one I wanted to get. I ultimately went with the chocolate chip cookie dough flavor. When I ordered a small size on a regular waffle cone, the employee gave me three huge scoops of ice cream in that cone! Dropped by Handel's for a post-dinner treat and grabbed a scoop of their vanilla with Oreo (basically cookies n cream in disguise). Solid flavor, generous mix-ins, and no complaints from me--just classic ice cream done right. My kiddo went for the caramel truffle, and while it looked like a slam dunk, he tapped out halfway through, declaring it "a bit too sweet." (This is coming from a child whose diet, if left unsupervised, would be 93% sugar.) So yeah... a twist ending I didn't see coming. Still, great service, rich flavors, and the line moved fast. We went tonight after dinner and after looking over their menu online. I can not have dairy. I was happy to see on their website chocolate non dairy almond milk option. We walk in through the wrong door Oops. They have an entrance and an exit lol My husband noticed right away. They had vegan options (non-dairy) but nothing I could eat. I am not big into fruits the only options were fruit flavors. Sad I once again could not enjoy a frozen dessert. My husband really liked what he got and the waffle cone also. Sad to say we will not be back unless their flavors change and sometimes they offer chocolate non-dairy or anything other then fruit flavors. read more

First time coming to Handel's Ice Cream. This store is located just outside of the mall, so there is plenty of parking. As you approached the store, you could see the outside seating was crowded. As you walk in, you are promptly greeted by the friendly staff. Simple decor but pretty large counter where they have freezers and freezers of their flavors. They have over 45 different flavors, from ice cream to sherbet, ices, and Sorbet. All the samples we tried made it so hard to decide carrot cake, the lizzy, black cherry, etc. We shared two larges with friends. -Banana Cream: Banana icecream marshmallow ripple, sugar gems. -Elvis: Banana icecream and peanut butter ripple. -Blueberry Cobbler: blueberry ripple and sugar gems -Lemon Bar: lemon icecream with graham cracker ripple. -Chocoholic Chunk: dark chocolate icecream dark chocolate chunks. -Coffee: coffee icecream.
