I'm embarrassed to admit that I haven't had frozen yogurt in a very long time. I was in to it way before it was a staple. Now, after visiting Tops, I am wondering if I can possibly regain those years/bites lost. Probably, but it wouldn't be pretty. However, my cup of yogurt was. I mixed cake batter, cinnamon and chocolate flavored froyo together (no tart for me thanks) and doused that baby with sprinkles of all shapes and colors and then threw caution to the spoon as I added chunks of cheesecake to the mix. Never mind watching calories--it's froyo! That means you can eat as much as you want and not gain an ounce. Right? Pshaw. I knew a girl who worked at a yogurt shop back in the day and put on a good 50 lbs in about 4 months. I think that is why I took a break actually. Clean, well-stocked weigh & pay yogurt place. The amount of toppings they had available was crazy! So many! They carry some Gunther's ice cream, and that's what I really wanted, but they didn't have the flavor I was craving that day. I'm assuming there is a flavor rotation that happens sometimes because Gunther's has so many. This place had maybe a dozen or so flavors? The yogurt is what you'd expect. Last night I went with my partner and a friend to tops around 9:45 pm. We walked in and there was a boy behind the counter on his phone. We started out by tasting the yogurt and picking the flavors. Noticeably there was a huge pile of chocolate yogurt on the tray below it prior to us tasting anything. He came and frustratedly cleaned it up. As we were going to go get toppings there were no spoons in the toppings trays. No problem, I walked over to the counter to get a regular spoon and asked if I could use it to get one topping from the tray. He responded with "Im preclosing but yeah you can" according to their website they don't close until 11 pm, but whatever I'm sure he closes early all the time. As he was ringing us up he proceeds to ask the people I am with their age and stated that only kids leave a mess when getting yogurt. He said that we were childish for wasting that much of the chocolate yogurt, my partner said that's fine that you think that but it was here before we got here. You can check the cameras. He continued to berate us and accuse us. We paid, we left, and will not be coming back. read more

So sad. I had a real hankering for fro-yo but even though they advertise they open at 11am they were still closed at 11:45. I was in front using my phone to find another place to go when 3 workers drove up in 1 car and WALKED RIGHT PAST ME without saying a thing. I walked in to enquire if they were open and was told that the yogurt wouldn't be ready for awhile. They said there was an issue at their other locations...but they couldn't spare a single employee to open their rocklin site on time?? And they don't even appoligize or acknowledge the customer waiting at the door. So sad read more

Love this place. They've got outside seating, inside is neat and clean. Flavors are spot on though they change sometimes so be on a lookout for that. The person tending to us was really friendly and helpful when I asked for the sample cups. They've also got spoons that change colour depending on their temperature! Great place to hang out. A family favorite the past 7 years however it's become too expensive. 3 small yogurts shouldn't cost $19. Also, pretty sure the last few times I have been overcharged. The weight, cost, and taxes don't add up. The owner doesn't give itemized receipt so you can't confirm the breakdown but somehow on $17 yogurts we got taxed $2.50?! I didn't realize until we left. I'm new to the area and stopped into Tops on a whim. Lots of fresh fruit toppings and all of the toppings bins had recently been refilled. I was pleasantly surprised to find a couple sugar-free options to satisfy a diabetic's restricted diet. The cashier asked if I had ever been in Tops before and I explained that my wife and I had just moved to the area a week before. He gave me a "frequent flier" card and punched a few holes in it. Then he gave us a buy-one-get-one-free coupon for our next visit. We sat outside in the sun on one of several tables available. When we were finished the clerk asked how we liked the yogurt and invited us to come back soon. Great service will be rewarded with a return visit from us. read more

Love Tops Yogurt. It's a favorite for school-aged kids, being so close to Granite Oaks and RHS, has lots of seating and toppings, and the owner is nearly always really kind and friendly. I've been many times and have never had a negative experience; great place to meet friends and always happy with the yogurt itself too. One thing is sometimes the owner or whoever is working are in the back so you might have to wait a second for help but never anything to worry about! read more

I come here about once a week or sometimes once every 2 weeks. During the school year it is a routine for my daughter and I. Hands down the best yogurt in town! There are I believe 12-14 flavors available and yet I pretty much always get the coconut which is very flavorful and super creamy. I like most of the other favors but I always end up getting this. There are a large variety of topings to choose from and the whipped cream machine, does in fact, dispense the World's Best, as it says! The owner is very friendly and I always notice the relationship she has with her customers is excellent. They keep the store spotless and I know for a fact they drain every machine every night and put in fresh yogurt daily. This is very important. This was my first and last visit to tops. Upon entering, I was greeted with the smell of bleach. Not the best smell before enjoying frozen yogurt. As I got a sample the froyo was very runny which got yogurt spilling all over my hand. One of the machine handles was broken, i think the chocolate, so it didn't stop when I let go which got more than I wanted in my cup and got chocolate all over the grate. Not a great experience at the machines. They had some toppings that I haven't seen at other place like sugar wafers. Yum. unfortunately these were very stale. Yuck. The kit kat was a little stale too. As for the ambiance, it wasn't great. no music or videos.....well there was a small tv up by the register with a movie playing but I think it was more for the lady (owner?) who worked there. As far as local fro yo places, this is our favorite! Always clean. Great flavors (including two daily tarts). A variety of sauces, dry topping, boba, fresh fruit and fresh whipped cream. They also serve ice cream and have more than a handful of flavors. Indoor and outdoor seating available. The owner is always very helpful and friendly. Enjoy! read more

It was mediocre at best. The toppings were stale and the flavors didn't taste anything like they said. I got chocolate and oreos with a vanilla and strawberry wafer and they all tasted bad! I am watching the female owner lick froyo out of a bowl as we speak, but that fun fact aside, they do not have a working phone number. I told the owner and she said she knows. In addition, when I came in there were only large bowls. And no sample bowls. Of course my kid filled it up. 10 minutes later other patrons came in and asked for sample cups. The owner looked everywhere (even lifting her purse from the sink and looking under it to no avail) and finally found some. The patrons then asked "do you have smaller cups?" And she went in the back and got them. These are STANDARD materials a frozen yogurt shop should have out. I pushed the lever for cheesecake and cotton candy came out. Her response "sometimes they get mixed together". I tried the lever next to it, still cotton candy. I tossed the cup and went with the ol' trusty cake batter. It came out normal. The toppings selection is phenomenal and all in all, though the environment is weird as everyone else seems to mention, we had a nice treat. read more

My family and I have been to this place a couple of times. Each experience was pleasant enough. Customer service was good and so were the frozen yogurt and toppings. Try the cocoa pebbles on peanut butter yogurt (sounds wierd, but you'll love it)! The owners are super friendly and you can always find a coupon somewhere which makes going out for a treat easier for our family of 5. Their flavors are awesome and they rotate occasionally. For you other yogurt snobs out there, you know the quality of yogurt heavily depends on the cleanliness of the machines(I have been told by other yogurt shop owners that cleaning the machines daily is a must, and quite a chore to boot)! Well, based on the taste of the yogurt here, they must be sticklers for cleanliness! It is quite evident too as the store is always clean as a whistle! Customer service is top notch, no insolent teens with an attitude will be found here! It is a family owned business and we are always greeted warmly by each member (mom, dad, and kids). All that aside, the flavor of their yogurt is superior! Plus, they always change up the flavors, offering new ones every day. The variety of flavors and toppings is a huge plus. In fact, I have NEVER been to a yogurt shop that has SUGAR COOKIE DOUGH topping! My daughter and I always fight over it because it's sooo yummy! I was told by the owner that other yogurt shops don't offer it because it is pricey. This place obviously cares more about quality, very refreshing. Came here at 1150a on a Sunday morning. Walked through the open doors (sign read 11am-11pm) and wanted to sample some flavors. After five minutes of no employee in sight. I grabbed a sample cup for my party of four. A quick pull on the lever and some watered down sugar spewed out. Each one of my friends (all around 30 years) wiped down their hands as a disgruntled employee named asmeetha came out yelling at us and throwing cups across the room stating the place isn't open yet. I used to frequent the Tops Yogurt in Elk Grove, which I loved for the nice selection of toppings, plus the punch card. I came to this location once, right as the high school got out (bad idea) and I was really put off by the smell. The lady was super friendly, and she kept the place really clean, but there was a lingering bleach odor, and she was spraying an air freshener. I don't want to smell a bunch of chemicals while I eat, so I probably won't return to this location. read more

I want to start by saying that the yogurt here is really, really good. The only reason I am giving this business such a low rating is the fact that they are using styrofoam products. I would hope by now that most people know that polystyrene is not recyclable or compostable and thus adds to the landfill waste stream; ends up in oceans and rivers, where it breaks down into smaller and smaller pieces that are consumed by marine animals and birds; and is horrible for the environment during the manufacturing process. I think any responsible business would look beyond the bottom-line profit and realize that their actions have serious consequences and would therefore invest in alternative distribution products that are more earth-friendly and sustainable. It's easy to throw things 'away'. It's more difficult to realize that there is no 'away'. read more

I am a huge fro yo fan and Tops is only making this love even worse! It is so clean and the woman I always see working is so friendly. She has a smile on her face all the time and is very helpful. I love the variety of flavors (I'm positive it's 10 flavors) and there is always something I want to try. I love the euro tart, pecan, and coconut flavors and seriously, the whipped cream is so good.
