We had a wonderful meal last night. Not a big place (cozy feel) and we had to wait 30 minutes for a table. Our server was wonderful and when we said we were sharing everything she actually plated all our dishes separately which was so nice. We sampled the ciders and had drink specials. We had the beet salad, cup of crab bisque and mushroom burger. Everything was delicious! I would definitely recommend and we will be going back. Solid choice but I wouldn't exactly order them again. My two cents to management: Please, I beg you, create a seating chart and place one server to the sections while keeping a bartender behind the bar. The spinach salmon salad was one of the best things I've ever eaten at a restaurant! Only giving 4 stars because the service was somewhat slow, but I'd still go back. We ordered drinks and dessert as we were just out exploring and came across this place , but it was all delicious . The dessert is the triple berry crumble and it was definitely the star of the show ! Absolutely delicious The pink drink is the sal-tea siren and the green glass is the Ahoy Matty! The sal-tea siren is strong but still good , but I think we both preferred the ahoy matty between the two. Our waiter was super attentive and friendly ! But unfortunately I can't remember his name to give him his kudos . But all staff we interacted with were kind the hostess asked if we would like to be seated outside which was an immediate yes and the view was beautiful with good music that was playing ! This place was has an outdoor area with views of the water. I wasn't able to snag a seat outside so we opted for the bar area since there was a wait. The inside was small but comfy and the service was good. Unfortunately my chicken mole was super salty so I couldn't really finish it. My drinks were a bit inconsistent with the alcohol. My husband enjoyed his food with out any complaints. The surrounding area is so cute with the historic buildings and views. The parking wasn't a hassle either. We ordered the calamari steak strip ($13), Fish N' Chips ($17), South Sound Chicken salad ($16), Raspberry Lemonade ($3.50, free refills), a beer and a cider. It was our first time dining at this restaurant and to be honest, the food we had was two-star worthy. The only thing worth coming back for is their chips from their fish and chips. It was thinly sliced, crunchy, and perfectly seasoned. Their menu is the standard "bar and grill" food that you will find anywhere in Tacoma. The prices are a little steep but I feel like it's due to location. You are paying for the view. Located in Steilacoom, you definitely get the view of the Sound, hence that one extra star on my review. We came in on a cloudy day and the view was beautiful. We were able to see the Gig Harbor bridge from the rooftop. The restaurant itself is pretty small. I imagined it to be bigger, looking from the outside. As for parking, I do not think they have their own lot. My husband and I found parking on the side of the street. Sreet parking is free. We found parking right away but it may be difficult to find during the summer or when the weather is nice considering that everyone is out and about. read more

Which I know totally can happen sometimes, but they didn't come out with one of our party member's food until we were all done eating and ready for the check. It was well over an hour at that point. I have been here many times before and have always enjoyed the meal. The calamari is delicious and highly recommended as an appetizer! My latest experience was last week on my birthday. We were sat quickly, which was nice because there always seems to be a wait. Food was delicious and service was prompt. The best ranch and bbq sauce! Loved it with my burger! Life got busy and I'm writing about our visit on 5/8/24, but I couldn't let this go without a review. I took my youngest daughter for a dinner date. They were quite busy so we put our names in for 45 minutes later and took a nice walk since the weather was great. We returned a half hour later and were seated in five minutes (10 minutes earlier than promised). The hostess set us up at a great seat outside and we were fortunate enough to be seated in Naomi's section. This was among the best service I've experienced in a decade at least. I eat out a couple times a week and we travel several times per year. Customer service as a whole in Tacoma and surrounding areas usually falls short in general vs. places like Astoria, Portland, Phoenix, Scottsdale, Anywhere in TN, or pretty much the south for that matter, so I'm not limiting this to our little neighborhood. The food was quite good, and its not always stellar at Topside, but decent and we come for the veiw. Tonight was on. Mushroom burger was cooked right and quite tasty, fries were hot and crispy (fresh oil), fish and chips were some of the best my daughter has had (she's an adult by the way). Beer selection was good and taps were clean which is something thats usually an accepted norm here as their bar staff is usually on it. Overall, a good Topside experience had it not been for Naomi who kicked it up to exceptional! Now allow me to gush for a moment. This gal is spectacular. She's genuinely friendly, caring, communicative, never overbearing or interrupting. From the food delivery to refreshments was delivered at a truly professional level. The cherry on top was her personality. If she didn't absolutely love serving her customers, this would not have been the evening it was. We enjoyed our date more than we have in a long time. As a business owner of 23 years, I've only had a handful of employees that exhibit the kind of genuine customer care that she does. Thank you, Naomi, and thank you Topside for providing her an environment where she can thrive. We will be back soon and asking for Naomi. Give that girl a raise and a bonus. Went to find a place to eat dinner with some outside seating so we decided to check it out. Was told there was a 45 minute wait for outside seating, and took that amount of time. The view, especially at sunset, was beautiful. Service was pretty good but it seemed crazy that they only had 1 waitress for the entire deck. We ordered the fish and chips and Caesar Cobb, and two draft beers. The salad was fine, nothing special. I wish there was a little more bacon than what was on it for the price. Fish and chips left a little to be desired. The fries were amazing, with a very crispy bite to it, which is hard to get without feeling like they're burnt. Cole slaw was also good with right amount of sweetness. Tartar sauce was very dill heavy, which I didn't love. Fish was not a large portion for the price you pay, and I wish it had a little more of the same crispness as the fries. Overall all fine, but for a $70+ meal, I expected a little more. read more

A gem. We stayed in Tacoma for a Seahawk game. I look up restaurants and surfed the ratings between 4.6 - 5.0. This place was noted as 4.6. It was nestled by the Tacoma waterfront and the food did not disappoint. It was a 18 min drive from our hotel and we were pleased that the drive was worth it. It was a friendly local place. The beer selection was good. So was the food. I had the Thai Peanut Butter Burger and a cup of chowder. Great! I also enjoyed the Great Divide Pumpkin ale. Delicious. My husband and the amazing Fish and Chips with Haddock. It was a huge piece of fish. Very good. If your visiting Tacoma Wa. You must try this place. read more

Went to the farmer's market (Wednesday's 3-7pm) and walked over to Topside for dinner. There is a garage that has spots for guests dining at Topside (we didn't know until we walked to the elevator). We parked a block or so away at one of the 2 hour parking spots. The calamari steak strips were delicious! I had to fish and chips and with fries which were crispy, and the fish flaky! My husband got the clam chowder, which he said was very dill flavored, but still good. I didn't like the tartar sauce that came with the dish (also too much dill) but asked for the Siracha aioli that came with the calamari. Definitely suggest eating outside if you're able to! read more

It's all about the deck seating. I hadn't been here in years and I of course wanted to sit outside to enjoy the sunny day and cool breeze. Unfortunately they put a clear barrier around the entire outside seating area making it unbearably hot when in the direct sun and not covered by an umbrella. Food was delicious as always.
