Father's Day menu: Pork belly and waffles
    Jennifer O.

Restaurant was inside the Hotel Republic hotel. Parking would be horrible M-Sat but since we were there on a Sunday, parking was free. Cashless establishment. Went for Father's Day brunch. No wait. Love the outdoor rooftop experience. Was kinda chili at 1030a so had to ask to turn the heater lamp on. My avocado toast was great! The pork belly and waffles was ok. Meat was kinda hard and tasted like the pork belly was cooked in maple syrup. Had coffee but was not offered or asked if we needed sugar . It was also my birthday and we were gifted the Flourless Cake. It was really good but super rich! Overall, it was a nice and relaxing brunch.

I'm usually skeptical of rooftops because of notorious small portions and expensive food/drinks, but I was genuinely surprised and impressed at this place for completely proving me wrong! We came on a Friday evening and were seated right away. Views of downtown San Diego were great enough for being on the second/third floor. Loved the lively DJ. The vibes were definitely there. We got shareables: Baja fish tacos and chicken skewers. They were delicious and pretty big for an appetizer. While I thought the chicken skewers were going to be like a peanuty chicken satay, these had more of a tangy creamy cilantro flavor. The Baja tacos were amazingggg. So juicy and flavorful! I also loved the topside spritz. It was the perfect light and refreshing drink for the night. Would love to come back again for a nice date or with friends!

Went in for Sunday brunch with friends and arrived a bit early, so we started with mimosas at the bar. By the time everyone got there, the only available seating was in the sun. They did offer us a cabana, but it felt a little odd having a reservation and still ending up at the least comfortable table. That aside, the service was excellent, the food was delicious, and the vibe was trendy with a rooftop-chic feel. The S.D. Benny was easily one of the best I've had--the chipotle hollandaise, chorizo, and guac were spot on. I'd go back just for that!

A very chill rooftop bar/restaurant, pictures made it look better but nonetheless it was a nice atmosphere. The dj was playing good hits and it was tolerable where we can still hear the conversation. We did feel that we had to wait several minutes to get our waitress attention but she was very nice. We only did drinks this trip and we had no bad notes on the drinks! I'd say if I truly wanted a "San Diego" rooftop experience I wouldn't have this on the list but it was still worth checking out

I can't say enough great things about Topside! I love the location! I love the views! I love the seating area, the food, the drinks, the servers, the happy hours specials! I can go on and on. Our server/bartender, was amazing! I feel so bad I forgot her name. But she made me one of the Only Fans martinis and it was SO GOOD! She was super nice! My husband had a beer on tap. We shared an order of the fish tacos. They were really good! I would love to hangout here everyday, if I could. Very cool place, great music, heaters for the cold, comfy seats. All around great place to be.

My husband and I were visiting the San Diego area for a Valentines weekend getaway and we found this cute little rooftop bar/restaurant. I really enjoyed the vibe there, the food/drinks and service. Our server was super nice & very attentive which made our visit extra nice. My husband had the breakfast burrito: it had smoked bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, pepper jack cheese, potatoes, roasted bell pepper, pico de gallo, spicy aioli. It was very delicious. The flavors were on point. I had the Chilaquiles Verdes: with two over easy eggs on top. It had salsa verde, lime crema, red onions, & cilantro. The chilaquiles were bomb. The flavor of the salsa, the eggs, the lime crema, the onion and cilantro was the perfect blend. I highly recommend visiting this spot if you're in the San Diego area.

This place is on top of the Hotel Republic. Great seating. Beautiful atmosphere. Attentive staff. The mushroom flatbread was a hit. The entrance up the stairs is also beautifully decorated. We went for social hour!

My boyfriend and I noticed there was a rooftop restaurant right on top of our hotel, so we decided to give it a try -- and I'm so glad we did. The views were beautiful, and I loved that they had heaters since it was a bit chilly outside. The bar itself is super pretty, the service was great, and our waiter was so friendly and attentive. We started with drinks, which were amazing. My boyfriend ordered the poke bowl and absolutely loved it. I got the tacos, which were delicious -- though I will say the steak was a bit tough, but still tasty overall. The real star of the night, though, was the band. I can't remember their name, but they were incredible. The woman in the group played the flute and sang her own original songs, and she was just mesmerizing. The two other guys in the band were equally talented, and together they created such a magical atmosphere. The band truly made the night feel special. If you're looking for a great rooftop spot with good food, drinks, and an unforgettable live music experience, Topside Terrace and Bar is definitely worth a visit. We had such a memorable night!

Topside Terrace is located at the roof top of Hotel Republic. Great breakfast/brunch menu (with healthy options) complimented with great service.

We are staying at this hotel and thought of an easy snack after arriving. It was their social hour so we may as well get our complimentary drinks (Bonvoy status) and use the $25 credit. This is located on the 2nd floor. When we first got in, we weren't sure if it was a seat yourself or wait for host. After a couple mins we decided to seat ourselves. After seated, a waitress came up and brought menus without saying anything else. Not a problem. We were waiting for about 15 mins before I decided to go order from the bar since we were sure how it worked. At that moment a waiter came up and apologised for the wait and took our order. He was very friendly and was nice to turn on the heater for us and open the umbrella as it was starting to drizzle. The beer was good and food tasted great. Our favorite was the taco! The menu states that it includes 2 tacos, but we only got one. We asked the waiter and he confirmed that it should be 2 and brought the other one later. Meanwhile, the first waitress was seen just chitchatting and hanging with her coworkers without helping any tables. Our waiter appeared to be the only waiter in the area. Suddenly the manager shows up and she starts actually greeting customers, seating customers, bringing water to the table (which we were never offered), and taking orders. This would've been a 5 stars review if we wouldn't have had to ask for our second taco and if she would've been working from the get go. We will be back for the tacos though.

Good food and drinks. Service was soso but then maybe they were short staffed, we couldn't find a server for long time at one point.

April 24, 2025 and 3 of us went after 1 called for but not being selected for jury duty. Great views!! The roasted mushroom flatbread was so good that we ordered a 2nd. The Only Fans martini was wonderful (and you don't have to provide your username and password-haha). The nojito (NAmojito/mocktail mojito was delicious. The service was outstanding.

Very disappointed in this spot. No drinks for brunch. Only drip coffee. Online menus no longer. Only a small 15 item menu with not even juice options. Food was good though. Service was kind. Gypsy Sally, the brunch band, was delightful.

My husband and I just finished our dinner at Teleferic Barcelona when I suggested we give Raised by Wolves another try - as we had about an hour before picking up the kids. For a Saturday, I was pleasantly surprised that as walk-ups we only had to wait a few minutes before we were seated at the bar inside. While we waited, we enjoyed perusing their bottle selections for purchase and I'm happy to say that playing music slightly louder in the waiting/market area helped dull the sounds from the inside bar. It helps create more of a 'moment' when you sit at the fireplace and slowly turn inside. This time we were seated right at the bar, which was perfect for us. Chuck was our bartender and 10/10 on the cocktails he made. This time, I went with their Tiki Room and my husband an off-menu Boulevardier (which I have to say I'm impressed he knew what that was because even I didn't, lol). Both drinks were perfectly crafted and enjoyed by both of us. We only had a moment for just one drink this time, but I have to say our experience was so much better than our first (perhaps a fluke of an evening). The staff were all welcoming and knowledgable, other guests were dressed well, and the ambiance lent itself to the vibe we were looking for. After doing some homework, I made the connection that Raised By Wolves was part of the hospitality group that also owns Lafayette Hotel, The Baby Grand, Ironside, etc...all locations my husband and I absolutely adore. Happy to support such amazing places around San Diego and I look forward to more!

Bathrooms are on the left and exit on the right. Our server was great and listened to what we wanted in a drink and offered options. Tried: Amuse $4 - we were celebrating a birthday so these were offered as birthday shots. Amaretto sour $18 - very good. Smooth and not too strong. French kiss - very strong. Didn't like this one. Mint mojito mocktail (aka dealers choice) $11 - this was so good and refreshing. I love the atmosphere inside. We were seated in throne like chairs which was very cool. It's cozy, intimate, and unlike any other place I've been to in San Diego. Reservations are definitely worth making since the space is on the smaller side and fills up quickly. The only reason I'm giving 4 instead of 5 stars is that, while the experience and ambiance were amazing, the drinks are definitely on the pricier side. I understand you're paying for the craftsmanship and atmosphere, but it's probably not somewhere I'd visit regularly because of that. It's common for tiki bars to be pricey so it was to be expected.
