I found him to be manipulative and unprofessional and, in my opinion, took advantage of my difficult personal circumstances. In Dec 2017, just weeks after losing my mom and sister and months after moving into my beautiful new home, I discovered a water leak that caused significant damage to my kitchen and multiple rooms. I initiated a claim with my insurance company, and began gathering quotes from three separate contractors -- one of whom was Darryl Huie. His initial demeanor was overly eager and persistent. Despite not being awarded the project, he repeatedly inserted himself into the process, including contacting my insurance adjuster without my consent, showing up to my property unannounced, and calling, emailing, and texting me constantly. I was grieving, overwhelmed, and traveling frequently for work and trying to get my family affairs in order, so I allowed limited access to my home strictly for estimation purposes. Not for any actual work. Darryl claimed that even if I didn't move forward with certain repairs, I was still obligated to pay him the entire labor amount my insurance company had awarded, even for work he wasn't doing. He warned me that I could be reported for insurance fraud if I didn't hand over all the funds to a licensed contractor (i.e., him). In my opinion, he used my inexperience with the insurance process to pressure and intimidate me, which I now see as taking advantage of my vulnerable situation. When I declined to move forward, he entered my home without permission while I was traveling and removed the granite countertop, then claimed it broke due to a "preexisting condition" which would have to be filed under a second claim. He later attempted to manipulate the situation by suggesting he could help get it covered under the initial claim if I gave him the job. I considered this a serious ethical violation and reported it to my insurer. When I returned home, I found my road bike missing from the garage and the broken granite left behind. I then received a $1,200 invoice for "services" for removal of the granite countertop, which I never approved. He eventually sued me in small claims court, falsely asserting we had a verbal agreement. Fortunately, I documented everything, and the judge dismissed the case. Years later, he resurfaced and sent me a disturbing message through Facebook filled with personal attacks, prompting me to finally share this experience. At the time, I didn't have the energy to speak up. I do now. After writing an honest review on Yelp, a man claiming to be his "friend, who happens to be a lawyer," began calling me at work, emailing my personal and work emails. I consider this behavior to be harassing, and I want no further contact. If you are considering working with this contractor, I strongly urge you to proceed with caution. This review is based entirely on my personal experience and supported by court records, insurance documentation, and extensive written communication.

The Servpro working for the HOA of the Mara villa Homes is dragging their feet on this.So I guess Seabreeze, is not helping me with getting it fixed. To add to it, their subcontractor has continued to send me an invoice for the removal for months and refuse to correct the issue. He came out to our office, measured the space and also explained in layman terms what would be required and done. After 8 bids from other licensed contractors, my company, Rok Hardware, ended up hiring United Restoration. They were the friendliest, most professional and best bid by far! We received an estimate quickly and all the documentation/insurances that our commercial business leasing office required. The best part, the job was done professionally, completed within 3 days and the project costed exactly what we were quoted, not a penny more! They knocked down some walls in our office/warehouse building, created a couple of openings to join rooms, fixed the celling to match the new open layout, and added all the finishing touches (re-textured/painted and drywalled all raw areas). Had a bad leak between walls of 2 of my units in San Clemente. Leak was discovered on 9-7-23 and…read moredue to shoddy work from Servpro, is still going on 6 months later. I am not getting rent "again" on this 2nd attached unit, and needless to say, my property manager and I are very angry. The 1st unit took about 5 months of testing, remediation and restoration. All went as expected until SERVPRO began their restoration. Had to call and have them come back a few times to complete work as required. Then, they started the 2nd unit in January, and after all testing for asbestos, they began pulling out the wall to wall master bath sink and broke the mirrors that were beautiful wrap-around mirrors. They replaced drywall behind the sinks and put the cabinets back "that now angle toward the back of the sink" not straight, and never put any backsplash on sinks. Took shower doors outside but still have never brought them back. Replaced all mirrors with 2 small black rimmed mirrors.. and now, moisture that was under the tiles since last year are smelling and appear to be moldy - Tenant says they stink and will continue not paying rent until he can use his only bathroom again.

Our project manager, Fernando, is fantastic. He first helped us navigate insurance itself, noting that they do not do water mitigation and insurance would first need to send someone to deal with the damage before he could give us an estimate for repairs. It's an explanation so logical you'd think the insurance company could have approached it that way from the start but alas, they're not really in the business of being helpful. So, after repairing the water damage and treating mold, our work with Ward-Tek began and, especially having spent months in the interim dealing with a different construction company for the initial work, Fernando and team were a godsend. The process of quoting the work was fast and transparent. The work was permitted and scheduled quickly and started on time and every deadline was met or exceeded which, given our experiences with other contractors, seems unheard of. Between Fernando and the lead contractor, Javier, we felt like we had a dream team and everyone who came through to complete the work understood that they were entering our home and respected what that meant for us as we juggled the construction with working from home and having two small children. It felt like they paid a lot of sensitivity to that and I can't overstate how important that was. And the work itself was meticulous. We made some design updates along the way and we're so thrilled that what started as a storm-related disaster ended in our house looking better than ever. We have so many projects to go on this old fixer upper and I genuinely don't want anyone but Ward-Tek to do that work. I trust them immensely after our experience and highly recommend them.
