The beginning of May, my mother came home to find water on her kitchen floor. Plumbers, she found, came in to see where the leak was from. It came from her ice maker in the fridge, and took care of the leak. I called to make a claim with her insurance and Geico got right on it. As soon as our adjuster, Khanh Vu, saw the damage, he sent the money for all that was covered right away. Ikon builders, referred to us by Khanh, had to literally rebuild the walls and whole kitchen, as Asbestos was found in the walls. The damage was intense and lots of work, but Ikon builders were amazing! Khanh, Brent and Lewis came in right away and got started to make the process shorter than expected. They were there when they said they would be, answered calls and texts. Ivana, the secretary set up the invoices and I was able to make payments in a snap! Very bad construction company. The client requested to close the windows, but they sealed all the windows without authorization. Moreover, they have been closing the windows for more than 3 months. Now 8 months have passed and the windows are still not closed. The heavy rain in Los Angeles has caused great damage to the house again. Very disappointed with their service. Had no choice but to use them because they are a preferred provider for an insurance claim. They installed new floors, walls in our bathroom, and other things. Hiccups throughout the project, but as we were pressed for time, had to accept the issues. We were advised that all of the work they did is covered by their warranty, and to notify them of any issues immediately. The toilet roll holder they installed fell off the wall a few weeks after the job was done. After much pushing, they sent someone to repair it. Fell off the wall again. Notified them immediately. Didn't get a response for a week. They then stated that the issue wasn't covered by the warranty without an explanation. Have been trying to get an explanation for weeks now, but emails and calls are not returned. If your insurance tries to force IKON on you, say no. read more

More than six months to try to do a job that I ultimately had to fire them for bc they are HORRIBLE at this , DISRESPECTFUL, and only show up for work when they feel like it!!!) Here is a new pic of the work that they actually did do before I fired them. It's leaking... Again!!! And I'm calling someone else and not even bothering to get money outa these pirates!!! This company is outstanding! The entire process from estimate to completion was transparent and I was communicated with every step of the way. The estimator, Mike Schick, provided even more details in his estimate than initially provided by the insurance adjustor who was also very thorough. The project manager, Pat Rudolph, is a seasoned, experienced construction industry talent. He provided outstanding subcontractors who performed quality work. He was at the job site daily, made sure the job went smoothly and followed up with me daily. Pat was easy to talk with and he took the time to explain things thoroughly giving me a great sense of confidence in IKON Builders. There were two crews led by Foreman Chico and Foreman Marco. Always on time ! Their work was pristine. The attention to detail was impressive and they left the site cleaner than it was before they started. Last but not least is their office manager, Carmen Batista. Carmen routinely checked with me to ensure I was satisfied with how the project was progressing. We had a water leak from the roof during the rains last week. Alex from Ikon builders was able to set us up with a next day appointment. Alex came with his team on day 1 for thorough inspection and gave us an idea on what is going on and how the whole process of drying/restoration works. Next he sent Nate and Raul for actual demo of the dry wall and set up fans. Both Nate and Raul were very professional and took care of the demo ensuring no damage to the existing furniture. They helped move the bed and then they set up needed sheets on the carpet and created an enclosed area so that the dust does not spread during the demo. They also showed me where all the moisture was due to the lead and applied some antibacterial chemical to prevent mold etc. Both Nate and Raul answered all the questions during their visit and kept us up-to-date with all the info. Where to begin, we were a month in with water damages that caused both our bathrooms to become unusable. Having to deal with insurance (HOAS end) was a nightmare, even worse is looking for contractors who you can trust to do the work diligently and for a fair price. Thankfully our adjuster referred us over to Ikon builders and in comes Pat Rudolph! The guy was a blessing, immediately he got down to business, running through and grabbing photos so he can draft up a proposal. We went from a bathtub to standing showers and the whole process was pleasant. Some miscommunication were made but it could've been on my end, regardless Pat was very understanding and ensured it would be remedied (and it was). Where do I start, I do not recommend Ikon construction if you've had a fire in your house in the southern California area as they're too far away to service many parts of the south Bay and other areas along the coast. It took them three years to complete the restoration after the fire. I got the first superintendent fired. I got the plumber fired. He didn't know what he was doing I got my own electrician to do the electrical. Some of their subs were good but the main problem is most of their subs come from the inland empire and they're only on the job for five hours because they have to drive so Much. Matt was the last superintendent for Ikon and he was good. Recommend him if you do have Ikon as your contractor, but find out in the beginning where all their subcontractors are coming from and do not use their architect. They were horrible. I come from a building side of things and a general contractor myself but working for the city of Los Angeles at the time so I know what I'm talking about when it comes to performance and these guys did not perform they left a lot of loopholes that weren't taken care of right away. I had to ride them constantly but once as I say, Matt showed up things moved a little smoother if you're re-piping your house use PEX-A, do not use PEX B you lose 50% of your water pressure. read more

I suggest you always look around don't go with the first suggestion from your insurance company. They did the worse job ever things are falling apart, the paint inside the whole house is peeling off they did only one coat. Left empty spaces, undone things. Ask the insurance for certain things they got paid and didn't do what they were paid for. They would order extra supplies and keep it. I believe the contractor had a side hustle. I would visit the house and no workers all day. At times they would just go for about 2-3 and that's it. They took more than expected and spend way more also. The fire was upstairs in the restroom and some in a room. Some water damage. Why take more than a year and spend more than 200,000 for that???? That's a whole new house!!!! They are thieves I wish I can sue them. And when I would call they were no help and just so rude about it!!!!!!!!!! read more

I'd never had a claim before, nor handled any home construction, so I really needed a company and project manager that was capable and service oriented. I am 100% satisfied, especially because of the project manager Pat Rudolph who was my focal point. He was always available, very interested in my satisfaction (I have to say that I'm a reasonable person), and made sure the outside vendors did the complete job. They undervalued my property. Took more than 6 monthis (2 months longer than they said). Weeks went by with no work due to vacations of the project manager, 3 weeks over Christmas and New Years etc. They broke many personal items. I had to pay several thousand dollars extra to get my rooms to be comparable to what I had. I had to buy many items myself. Let's just say that my blood pressure was over the top the whole time. We had Ikon Builders to do our kitchen remodel (after a flood) and It came out soooooo great! Matt is really cool and helped us a lot along the way. This was our first time doing a remodel and of course, you hear horror stories of mountains of change orders and weirdo workers, none of that happened for us, it was quite the opposite. They worked within our budget and never pressured us with upsells, definitely honest people that want their customers happy. Also, all of the guys coming in and out of the house all the time were very nice and friendly and it was the same team throughout the whole project which we appreciated. Ikon Builders was assigned to repair water damage to the ceiling and walls by my National General homeowners insurance. The project involved testing the popcorn ceiling and drywall for asbestos, then removing the popcorn in the living room and adjoining hallway along with damaged drywall. Prior to the work, Ikon removed all furnishings and antiques from the living room, including many fragile items. They placed everything in my garage. Then the demolition of the popcorn and drywall was done. That work was paid for by National General. Ikon Builders then walked away from the job. I had to call Ikon back and ask them to complete the restoration. they agreed to do so, however the contract they sent me to sign contained a clause that said Ikon would not be responsible for damage or loss of contents for the rooms. Since they had already handled (removed) the contents of the rooms under their contract with National General, and since the proposed agreement for completion of repairs included returning the furnishings to the living room and hallway I asked that the clause eliminating Ikon's responsibility for "building contents" be modified or deleted from the agreement. Ikon refused to alter the proposed agreement under advice from their attorney. Therefore, I am going to have to find another contractor to do those portions of the restoration that I cannot do myself. And likely file a claim with National General for any of the contents of my living room and hallway that I discover when I unpack things in my garage. read more

A vehicle drove through two homes in the HOA I manage. The master insurance hired IKON to preform the rebuild and repairs. I have managed condos for over 15 years and this is by far the largest claim I have dealt with to date. Monica Cooley, an employee of Ikon Builders, contacted me and the homeowners weekly to update us on the progress. There was never a time I could not get a hold of her. I have recommended IKON to other HOAs. Large claims can be stressful. There is a lot of follow up and time sensitive work and approvals that need attention ASAP.
