First time in Elk Rapids and I couldn't be more impressed, not only a quaint town but friendly with great food! I had the Reuben, there was a perfect amount of meat and sauerkraut the onion rings were a small up charge but well worth it. Service was good and the dining room spacious and clean. We travel to Elk Rapids 5-7 times per year and traditionally have always made a point to hit up the Town Club. Lately, the service has been unpredictable and today was truly a disappointing experience. My wife asked for water three times and never received it, no plates were provided with our appetizers, and the service was just overall slow and inattentive, which was frustrating given that the place was practically empty. It's nice to have an option downtown to dine in, but today's experience will definitely encourage me to start looking elsewhere. read more

We've been here a number of times over the years- before and after the remodel. After the remodel it's a great space with updated everything...but man do I miss the half moon leather booths. It was a vibe all by itself! It's always been a special place with great food. We absolutely smash the fried pita wedges every time. Great service- even with kids in the summer! We've been coming here for over 20 years and they just don't care anymore. They seem to rely on what they use to be as well as the fact that there are limited places to go. It really seems to come down to management. There aren't enough servers and the food is average at best. STAY AWAY!! For the third time this winter, we got denied ordering food?? The First time, was on a Tuesday, and I understand the kitchen closing a bit early. The last two times we were denied, was after boys high school basketball games. The game finishes at 8:30, and we rush as fast as we could to get to the restaurant by 9:00. The time the kitchen closes. Both times we made it by 8:45 and we're told the cook will NOT cook you any food sorry. Then our unfriendly waitress told us that they just changed the hours, which was a lie. You would think in a small town where High School sports kind of dominates things. You would stay open on Friday nights a bit later, to accommodate the people that are out and about because of the high school game. The Town Club is a hidden gem. It has been around for over 70 years and the new management/owners really value customer service. This establishment is kid friendly (kids menu) and the food is fairly priced. My favorite food to order at The Town Club is the fried mushrooms, the grilled chicken salad, and you can never go wrong with one of their burgers. I definitely recommend to stop in! Service: 2 waitresses doing the entire place and they didnt miss a beat. Plus, they were very friendly and just the right amount of help. Ambience: Its not a big place, its like an expanded bar with regular lighting. Food/Value: Both good. A big Turkey Club (didnt leave hungry like I do at Panera) and fries $12. This was our 2nd visit this summer, and not much better than our first visit. It was the evening of Evening on River Street and we decided to get some burgers there. We started at the bar, and the bartender was great! As friends came in, we moved to a table to order. 45 minutes went by as we tried to get the attention of the waitress or the manager who was moving around, but nothing. Came in today for lunch and had a very average (to below average) lunch. I was first surprised with the cheese sticks and how they came on paper plates and had premade marinara that was pretty gross. Luckily the cheese sticks tasted good and didn't need the sauce. We were also given plastic utensils which I'm not sure if it's standard, but didn't feel right for the price. The large Greek Salad was definitely was large, but the chicken just tasted like Tyson frozen chicken and was pretty gross- very odd texture and not a good flavor. To top it off, the window cleaner came in and cleaned over our dishes and then had me move from my seat so that way they could clean the windows. Wish they would have waited or at least asked us to switch tables. The server was friendly, but I wish she would have asked the window cleaner to not clean right over our dinner plates. read more

In the past month, I've had 2 horrible experiences with the bartender, Kate, at Town Club although the waitress, Maddy, was terrific. The first time, my friends & I tried to get some drinks around 8:45pm on a Wednesday night, walked in, and were quickly escorted to the door after being yelled at just for walking into the establishment. The second time, we had a large group giving them plenty of business with food and drinks, and were yelled at, cussed at, and told to "get the f*** out" unprovoked. The poor waitress even said that "they're mean to me here." Stay away... average food, cheap drinks, horrible service. read more

Stopped in on a Wednesday night while staying at the Spring Lighthouse. It's clear this is a local hotspot. Food was very reasonably priced and tasty. I recommend dipping your frys in the beer cheese. They have a few vegetarian options as well. Our waitress Kelcie was busy but able to check in with us and was very friendly and professional. Recommended by a local, so we stopped in and were not disappointed. Finally, a place with a just-right size sandwich. Had the gyro and burger and both were portioned to finish and not feel over-stuffed. The glass of Northwoods soda was quite large and a refill is included. Beware - the kitchen staff doesn't wear masks or gloves and when I approached the server about it she replied "it's not required in the kitchen ". We watched two guys cutting up our salads with bare hands, standing shoulder to shoulder without masks. I called Antrim county and registered complaint with the health department. This was my first visit since the remodel. I love the atmosphere inside. Server was friendly and efficient (and always wearing her mask). Nice local options on tap. Formerly known for its burger baskets and tasty daily specials, staff shortages and absent owner have resulted in mediocre fare often prepared by wait staff. During a recent Friday early evening visit we were told that burgers were not available and only fried food baskets could be ordered. An earlier experience with another friend resulted in the worst hamburger ever...a brick of overcooked meat served a full 45 minutes after ordering when there were only about ten people in the bar. Monday 8/3 and the guy cooking in the kitchen still is without a mask. Seems like there is a shortage of employees in this area so that's probably why this behavior occurs. The one waitress working did have a mask on so bonus star for that. Sadly we waited, and waited for someone to come to our table. We went here last week for lunch with some friends. We were hitting the local Antique shops and needed to eat. Looked good from the outside and the in for that matter. The drinks were good the service was good but as said in other reviews the food was crap. I had what they call a shaved ribeye sandwich. When it arrived it looked like those steak-ums my mom would buy us as a kid. My wife had a chicken sandwich, she said it was The driest chicken she ever had and very rubbery. One of our friends had chicken nachos and like was said in another review we could have done bettering at the gas station. Went here for dinner because the wait was so long at Pearls. Good beer and bar food. I had the home run burger which was good. The fried pita chips with feta dip were really yummy. There were a lot of us in our group with two kids and we got seated right away, but not long after we got there it was crowded and people were standing around waiting for tables to free up. Good place. Met with some friends for dinner and drinks. The Club sandwich was good. Ended up shooting a couple of games of pool and playing a cool little bowling game that they have there. Overall had a really good time. They did have the temp turned down pretty cool (it was single digits out and there were only a few people in the place) so you might want to dress warm.
