When my family came to eat on Father's Day today, our son was the first to order, and the worker at the register was completely 'short' with him. The worker looked and sounded frustrated that our 11 year old had questions about the tacos. After we were all done ordering, and the guy working he counter had been curt to all of us, our son looked like he might cry. He was confused as to why someone would be so rude for no reason at all. Definitely a go to for lakeway. The food is ok, I mean it's tacos, is there really such a thing as a bad one; but the staff there and really the bar staff are awesome. They know their drinks and are always on it. Ordered a top shelf margarita and the bar tender offered me a different tequila that was arguably better and cheaper. read more

Fantastic tacos, literally everything I've tried (which is everything but the seafood) has been consistently incredible. Barbacoa is too-notch (validated by my very blunt Hispanic father-in-law), fried avocado and fajita chicken; can't go wrong. Beware of the ones marked spicy, like the jerk chicken taco... I love spicy food and it lit me up. Still, the flavors are unbeatable around the area regardless of heat! We love the queso, also get it without the spicy drizzle if you're sensitive to peppers. Since it first opened we've tried to be patient with the poor customer service, extremely late orders, and even less accountability and response from leads/managers. Once again our online order was wrong when we picked it up after requested ready time. Two of six items ordered were correct, and there were more tacos in the bag than ordered. Only one correct. It's really disappointing when you like the food, but the location is severely underperforming. Been coming to this place since it opened. We usually sit at the bar and have a drink while we wait for out food. The weekend evening bartenders are awesome! The two guys working behind the bar are always really attentive, have great personalities and make great drinks. If you don't want alcohol, they also serve the Maine Root Fairfield Trade sodas. Great alternative to the big soda companies. I don't think we've ever had a bad experience there. I've been in the restaurant business for a long time, and these people do a great job. I love you because you're Torchys. Food is always great. Wish the prices were a tad lower but the breakfast tacos here are more filling than other locations. I have more luck getting great service at the bar. Counter is hit or miss. I know staffing is nearly impossible to find, but they usually have enough people working. It's Friday and there is only one person working the counter and there are zero menus for the long line of people to look at while they wait. Epic fail. I get being short staffed but if I was the owner I would be working tonight. I feel really bad for the poor kid working by himself. What kind of manager does this to their staff?? I love Torchy's but they were not prepared for Black Friday crowds. They had one employee working the register when there should have been three. It took 20-30 minutes to get through the checkout line and another 20-30 to get food. The same employee was also taking online orders as people walked in and also refilling customers' nacho chips. They were out of most forks, knives, sugar, tea, spoons, napkins, and other things. Yours truly took it upon himself to restock some of these items for them (ie utensils, sugar). ZERO COVID protocol at this location. Went on a Friday night & not 1 staff member was wearing a mask on the floor, in the kitchen or at the bar. As someone who spent the last year plus working on the vaccine rollout in my job I can this was incredibly disheartening. The service on top of the safety protocol was horrible. I can understand how restaurants nation-wide are struggling right now, but the chaotic environment only added to the wide-spread ignorance and health and safety risks of this establishment. Terrible Saturday service. We called in our order to save time but the store has ONE person doing pick-up , dine in, AND phoned in orders. When we got there, the one man behind the 3 registers was moving so fast that he messed up our credit card transaction 3 times, delaying us from eating AND recreating a line build-up from walk-ins. This happens nearly every time at this place. They are also wasting ownerships money - constantly bringing out the wrong items. To be honest, it looks like many of them are still stoned from the night before. As much as I don't want to, I may need to stop coming here if management/ownership can't get their act together. This Torchy's used to be really nice, but I'm not sure what happened. Last year, I would go here at least once every two weeks, but my schedule changed and I no longer went there as frequently. I went here a couple days ago, and everyone was very nice! They have great customer service. I would say 5 minutes or less after I ordered the food, it came out- which is the fastest amount of time I've ever seen a Torchy's bring out the food. (Not that they ever take a long time!) The only problem was that the 2 tacos I ordered were cold! Everything else I ordered was hot/warm so I didn't feel the need to complain. Overall it was very clean and the employees were outstanding- I just wish they had served hot tacos. read more

I love it, my nuclear family loves it, and my elderly parents love it. The very best thing on the menu by far, imo, is the green chili pork tacos. To Die For! (This coming from a New Mexico native) If you're hungry, go for the chips and queso too. Recommend you don't add chorizo to the queso. I'll be back again and again! read more

Simply the worst customer service experience in the area. I had always liked the tacos so after six months I went back and got the same experience. Completely dropped the order and just couldn't care less about the customer. Both bad experiences were the Lakeway location, so maybe just a poor management or poor training at this location. read more

Great place to gather....BUT since they recently went from using white chicken meat for most of their tacos and salads and gone to thigh meat only...I am not a fan of the food. The thigh meat is over cooked bits and pieces and does not soak up the marinade like white meat hence flavorless meat. It is not fair to charge folks for a premium taco and deliver a substandard one. Love the tacos, not impressed with the management. We bought a couple of gift cards in December that had a $5.00 off promotion per card. We did not realize that the promotions were only good for a month. We remembered the gift cards and the coupons on a recent visit. The bartender provided good service but their point of sale system would not take the coupons. I asked for the manager to take a look. I explained that it was an oversight - I eat here at least once a week. Nick, the manager was unhelpful and completely unsympathetic, to the point of arrogance. Realize, we had already spent money with his restaurant by buying the cards.
