    Lunch special: soft taco plate
    Dawn S.

I dined here for lunch with some work colleagues and we had a nice time. Our server's name was Haley and she was as friendly as could be. :) We were greeted promptly and brought waters, chips, and salsa. We ordered queso because...does there need to be a reason for it? No. You just get it and love it and that's all there is to it! We were all happy with our entrees. There wasn't anything left to take home! We were offered to go cups for our drinks which is a nice touch. :) We sat inside due to the heat but there is a nice patio. Dogs are allowed on the patio but not in the restaurant itself. So plan accordingly. *Pro-tip: get there early if you can...the place was full when we left and it got quite loud. We arrived about 11 to beat the rush.

One of our favorites! Love the location! The patio seating is good when the weather allows, the dining room is a bit packed and sometimes a bit warm. Overall good food, good atmosphere and tremendous staff! Generally we get chicken fajitas, strait plate or tamales. There is nothing I don't recommend here! In the winter the is nice. They have double sided fireplace so inside or out you can enjoy. Plenty of parking, both in the front and in the back, and if there is a wait they have lots of room outside for seating comfortably.

I was very impressed with the food and service here! The salsa was amazing and actually had some heat to it, and the ingredients were fresh. I got the Regular Dinner, and I was more than stuffed after. Pretty good value at around $14! I'll be back.

    My chicken fajitas. Very good.

This was a weird one, my wife and I had been recently on a run of reading Ben Rehder books. He was born and raised in Austin and still lives here, so most of his settings are in and around Austin. Including several restaurants he and his partner eat at when between cases or on a break. We thought it would be fun as we really enjoy the books to try the places they go that we have never been to and this was the first one picked randomly. I don't think we went the the exact location they did but still it works. It was very crowded and VERY LOUD when we first arrived. We still didn't have to wait long and got seated quickly. We did have to ask and wait some time for a drink menu and the waiter seems annoyed we asked for it or that they had to go get it maybe? Perhaps whoever sat us was supposed to supply it? Who knows but he was not in the best of moods for the first 30 minutes or so we were there. We tried very hard to be pleasant, friendly, smile and make jokes but nothing. There is both inside and outside seating as they have a patio area. It is on the second floor of a shopping type center. We perused the menu and there were several things that stood out but I almost always go with Fajitas on my first visit to any Mexican food establishment and did so here as well. The food was good, not the best ever but very good. If it was a bit closer it may be on the rotation but it is a bit out of our way. Shana enjoyed her food as well and it cleared out rather fast but for a bit it was loud and crowded. We found out from our waiter that he and 2 others were going to be cut as it was so slow then suddenly a ton of people showed up which may account for his early bad mood. Maybe he wanted out early. After it cleared out a bit he was better. It was pretty good overall and the drinks were nice. We had a good time overall and you are in that area I suggest you stop in.

I meet a good friend here every couple of months for lunch. And today was one of those days! It's consistent, reasonably priced, and good. I had the tortilla soup today which is chock full of chicken! We were able to sit on the patio despite the heat and still had a good time catching up.

Regular Dinner but choose the beef option!

I've never had a bad meal at any of the Maudie's locations in Austin and this first visit to the Milagros location was no exception. Work has been taking me to this area more frequently lately so we came here for lunch. Getting into the restaurant is always a bit of a challenge due to the never-ending construction on 360 but it's worth the effort. I usually park around back. Like always, I got the Regular Dinner with beef enchiladas. So delicious! The food is cooked on the plate so that plate is hot enough to peal your skin but it keeps the food warm the whole meal. They are very accommodating about tweaking your order but I love the rice, beans, and taco just as they come. The taco is so full that I've never attempted to eat it as a taco. Instead, I chop it up on the plate and eat it as a taco salad. What I like best about this location over the others in town is sitting on the terrace. I love the high vantage point and the serene peaceful view. What's not to love?

    Spinach Tomatado Enchiladas
    Michelle W.

My first time coming here and it was a pleasant experience. Service was great and the food was good. I ordered the Spinach Tomatado Enchiladas and the Christmas cocktail (Tito's, Orange, Grapefruit & cranberry juices). The enchiladas were good. Spinach and mushrooms with cheese! Yum. The grilled zucchini was delicious. Can't wait to try more of the food.

Ask for the salsa verde to spice up your food!.. it delicious and HOT!!!!

Not quite sure why the food was subpar, but there were 10 of us who all agreed we wouldn't return for food. There is a swanky little cozy speakeasy in the basement that may be good? We absolutely recommend coming here and getting fajitas or enchiladas or Barbacoa quesadillas maybe all of the above if you bring enough people because it's all delicious! The restaurant itself is very well kept and clean. It does get a little bit loud, but that's only because it's always packed to the doors. Mama Betty's has a really fun outdoor patio space and always has great music playing. It's an awesome establishment to bring families kids Little League teams, office meetings whatever you want you won't disappoint anybody you bring. No matter who we have gotten as far as the wait staff they have all been extremely friendly, kind and helpful when it came to choosing something on the menu--everybody here has a wonderful and warm personality. They really have put together a home run of a restaurant and I hope that they stay around for a long time. Last, but not least the drinks are outstanding, and everything is very competitively and fairly priced. If you haven't tried it and are worried about it being packed come during the weekday at lunch.

Went on Sunday after Easter service because we were craving something a friend brought us during a…read morerecent meal train but felt it a bit lacking. First, the menu needs a rewrite for content and clarity. For example, buying fajitas doesn't list guacamole and based on size, single, for two and family you get more sides of rice or beans. There's no definition of how much actual meat you get and our server couldn't provide that information beyond a rough estimate. Second, the fajitas we got of family size and for two portions for 7 were not consistently cooked. We asked for medium rare and got about 25% at that with the ones in the center at a more well done. Again, the multiple tiny sides were more obnoxious than anything as it's legit beans and rice unless you want to upcharge. The cilantro lime rice tastes like nothing so skip that and go for abuelita rice which has a hint of flavor. Overall, the butter/gravy that go on the fajitas is the real winner but again a menu where you overbuy and misunderstand (that doesn't even list extras like guacamole or a simple small queso) was beyond frustrating. I would stick to them for one to possibly get a better cook.

Boom boom sauce is the star. The verde vegetarian sauce and deluxe tomatilo are amazing too. You can't go wrong with any of the those. Veggies enchiladas comes with two enchiladas, you can have different sauce for each. Other vegetarian items that we have tried are veggie fajitas, burrito, quesadilla and nachos. Guac is good too and comes in lot of quantity if you order as a side. Their jalapeno ranch is soooo good and goes well with their homemade chips which are very light. They refill the chips, and salsa and ranch as many times as needed. Oh and the best of all- tresleche cake. They run out pretty quick so make sure you ask for it up on arrival and ask them to keep aside one for you if possible. I've driven by El Alma many times being in the Austin area, but I never went until last Thursday, and after surviving a brief monsoon, I was glad to get a few drinks and eat some good TexMex with my large party just before a wedding. The best way to describe El Alma is that it is TexMex that is Austinified. Everything feels a little more unique and special than your classic TexMex options. I started off with a Mezcal Margarita that put a little hair on my chest and got me going. My group ordered two of their Nachitos, which were these nice nachos. For my main entrée, I got 3 Al Pastor tacos on corn with a side of their rice and beans. Their pastor was served with pineapples, onions, and cilantro with limes on the side. They were great and I immediately crushed them all. I thought their rice and beans were pretty good as well and a step above the typical TexMex rice and beans. The server was pretty attentive throughout our whole visit, and I honestly have no complaints about what they had to offer. Pricing on the meal and drinks was pretty standard for Austin, and I didn't think anything really took me out of the experience. On top of that, for being in Barton Springs, there is quite a bit of parking. I would love to come back at some point in the future and hang out on their rooftop bar because that seems like a lot of fun. Shoutout to El Alma for being a TexMex oasis saving me from the MoPac traffic. RIYL: TexMex, but better than your average

First and foremost, they are closed on Sundays and Mondays. Secondly, they are so popular that you should almost always expect a wait. The pro move here is to book a reservation, but if you don't have one - anticipate waiting anywhere between 30 - 90 minutes in order to get in. Once in, you have the option to pick from a variety of tex-mex cuisine, including some local house specials such as the "crunchwrap supreme" which has an interesting backlore related to Taco Bell. Free chips and salsa (choose up to two salsas to try) land as soon as you arrive. El Dorado is known for its vegan tex-mex offerings so those with more particular diets will certainly be able to find something that works. The salsas are tasty. The serving portions are large. The flavors are good - there's really not too much to complain about once you're in and seated.

This isn't my first visit to Eldorado, trust I've been here many a time. This ain't my first rodeo!…read moreI am such a huge fan of this place and I am glad to say I've been coming since before their Bibs Gourmand recognition which is very deserved. First off, the spot has such a cute vibe and decor. The staff are also very kind and attentive and it's always popping any time I've come for dinner so it always has a lively energy. I always either get the chile relleno plate or one of the enchiladas. All their food is seasoned to perfection and has so much depth to every bite. I'm also a huge fan of their salsa flight and queso and their chips have a toasted tinge which I love. On top of all of this, their prices are very reasonable as they live up to that Michelin recommendation.

The guacamole was mostly just avocado but they put pickled veggies with it and it will light you up! Our server was super sweet and did a good job and the place was slammed. It was SXSW weekend so all of the extra crazies were in town. The churros do not get cooked inside. They were wet and gummy. We mentioned to the manager and she was very apologetic and replaced them immediately. They were still raw inside but they were already removed from our ticket. The house margaritas were very good! Like I said, it was a crazy, busy weekend so the DJ had the tunes bumping really loudly. Not sure if it's always this way but with concrete ceilings and floors it was loud. Hard to hear server and each other. I'd still go back for the food.

Kind of irritating when you're trying to relax. A cabana is the way to go but the seating for the couch slides all over the place. Service was great for how busy they were! Update- apparently the dog's owner is a resident of The Proper.....still not okay to be doing this....but grateful for the waitstaff for trying to manage such rude people

I ordered 2 steak tacos and horchata, both very delicious. The horchata is milky and sweet but not crazy sweet, and topped off with cinnamon. The steak tacos came out pretty hot, fresh from the grill. I got them on corn tortillas and I'm glad I did: idk if they make them in house but somebody in some house is making these because they definitely aren't store bought, and if they are I want to know where! I tried the orange habanero and creamy serrano salsas. The habanero was spicy off the bat, while the serrano had more of a lingering burn. Both paired well with the steak. They have a little bar, too, though I did not imbibe this time. Seems like they have a decent selection of agave spirits, and even Campari behind the bar (iykyk). Give them a shot, and thank the ladies in the kitchen.

Decided to come in and the cashier greeted us and was really nice and patient because of questions with the menu. The Taco Bueno is what I had ordered and requested no potato. Anyone reading this, try this place out and if u like it, come back! Cuz we are for sure =D
