I used to go to Tacodeli during undergrad and enjoyed their tacos, and it was so nice to satisfy my Tacodeli itch while back in Austin! I had the migas platter, which was delicious. I especially liked the mashed potatoes that came along the eggs, beans, and pico. They also gave me two tortillas with the platter so that I could make my own tacos. This location has abundant outdoor seating and is located right by Juiceland if you're hoping to hit up another Austin classic. I love Tacodeli but rarely dine at this location and where parking at times is very difficult. Other food establishments are located here and reason why parking is sometimes tight. It's has the same nice assortment of tacos to choose from. I ordered the Mexico City Chicken and Chips & Queso. There was seating available and noticed many charities hanged outside near them but not a bothersome. The staff was very friendly. The taco tasted very good with very few ingredients and the chips & queso good too. Both had a nice flavor where Tacodeli has their own style. We returned to Taco deli for some tacos for dinner. My husband placed the order online and he picked it up. I ordered the the White Veggie Rice, Whole Black Beans, two Pollo Fantastico Tacos, and some Salsa Verde with Tortilla chips. I usually combine my black beans and white veggie rice with salsa verde for added flavor. I eat it with the crispy tortilla chips. The Pollo Fantastico Tacos have shredded chicken, roasted green chili sauce, crema Mexicana, and green onions. I love that these tacos had lots of chicken. They were so filling. The salsa, crema, and onion as mixed ingredients gave the tacos lots of flavor. Overall the online ordering process and pick up were quick and easy. The food was filling and flavorful. One word to describe this location: SLOW. Especially compared to other Tacodeli locations, even for takeout. This isn't the first time either. I was waiting over 30 minutes for a takeout order that was placed before we arrived--and it wan't even peak lunch time yet. It was only 10:35am! I'm a big fan of Tacodeli, and I usually find other locations much quicker with orders. The food is always yummy, though! My go-tos are the migas plate (great when I'm really hungry--it's a lot of food for the same price as tacos), the migas, and the chicken fundido. Just wish this location was faster! read more

When I called the store, the response was surprisingly passive-aggressive. They struggled to confirm that I'd even been there 20 minutes earlier and said they'd "just put it back on the card." I was also told that I should have checked my order before leaving, which felt like an attempt to shift the mistake onto me rather than take responsibility. I'm a loyal customer and come here often, which makes this especially frustrating. This has happened multiple times recently, and tonight the store wasn't busy. If this is how mistakes are handled going forward, I don't see how they expect to keep their regular customers. read more

Eewww so gross here! Placed an online order and picked up during the lunch time hours, and man, I won't ever come back!!! Ordered a Caulibella; literally came with only ONE piece of cauliflower. A Heather; nicely decorated and topped with someone's black hair. And a Space Cowboy; that looked somewhat like it should but I was afraid to eat it thanks to the other tacos that came with ingredients that were not on the menu; i.e. HAIR. I did call and told them of my distaste (literally and figuratively speaking) in my order, and was refunded, thankfully, because I wasn't eating ANY of that food. The man who answered (manager perhaps?) sounded kind of annoyed that I even asked to speak to the manager "during the busy lunch rush". Sorry homie, but get your staff and their wild hair in order and you won't have to deal with the 2 minute phone call. I get things happen, but his annoyance and tone is what led to me writing the review. I pick up breakfast tacos almost every morning at a different location and love them. Today I ordered 2 sirloin egg and cheese tacos with extra egg - my usual order- from this location. when I opened them they were so poorly made I almost threw them out. They definitely weren't made fresh, seemed like they just threw premade tacos in from the day before. tasted like they were left on the warmer overnight. Steak was dry and hard. There was not extra egg, and no cheese. And they were about half full from what they usually do. I've ordered from here a few times before, they usually don't do the extra egg which- annoying since it costs money- isn't a deal breaker. But the stuff they gave me today.. will not be ordering from here again. Staff is friendly at least. read more

Love love love taco deli. Highly recommend trying the picosito taco or the cowboy. It's savory, spicy, and just delicious. The service is fast as well, so you don't have to wait too long to get your food. Essentially, if you are looking for something fast and yummy to eat, go here. As for the ambiance, it's not bad. The vibes are nice. Only thing is that the tables tend to get filled up quick (especially peak lunch hours) so there might not be a place to sit. read more

I came in to redeem my free chips and queso for my birthday but couldn't find my email. The guy behind the counter said he couldn't help me, but Seven (the manager) said I had to place the order on the app. So I went to the app to do so, but she told me she would just give me the chips and queso for free. I told her I could redeem it on the app, but she advised me to use it for another time. Then she asked me if I wanted a drink, and I replied with a no. However, she insisted I pick a drink of my choice. I told her thank you very much. Almost 10 years since my first review. I guess I'm guacamole rich now because I gladly pay roughly $5 per taco at Tacodeli. The Otto remains my favorite. So much so, my second breakfast taco is a riff off the Otto (eggs, refried black beans, bacon, chorizo). Dona salsa remains perfect and I've been appreciating the habanero salsa lately. The online ordering app is terrific. One of the things I didn't enjoy about Tacodeli was the wait. The app has made that disappear. 99% of the time I'm eating breakfast here, but they have a great dinner package for the family. read more

We stopped here for a snack and we hoped to find some coffee... Well, the food was amazing and fast, and the coffee was workable :-) Visiting family in Austin, we needed a spot to grab a quick bite to eat. Dropped in here, and walked right up to the counter. The food order was quick, and they had brewed coffee and some cream and sugars... basics... Seating was like sitting in an old cantina, and the noise level was just right for some relaxing conversation. The food was called out quickly, and we grabbed some different salsas to try. It was all pretty good :-) I would not put this place on the level of some other Mexican/Tex-Mex restaurants, but for the price, speed, convenience, and taste, it was at least 4 stars of yummy goodness! Stopped by Tacodeli for lunch while out shopping with family. I ordered the Cowboy and the Frontera Fundido Chicken tacos. The Cowboy is one of my favorite tacos here - beef tenderloin with grilled corn, onions, peppers and a dollop of guacamole. Pretty flavorful on its own and doesn't need salsa, although the Verde and Dona salsas are great options if you want an additional kick to your taco. Frontera Fundido Chicken was solid, but nothing special. This taco was a bit on the greasy side, which could be partially from the jack cheese glaze on top. My family ordered the Papadulce and Space Cowboy tacos and enjoyed both vegetarian options. My husband enjoyed his Delibelly taco (pork belly with sweet-spicy salsa on top), but did not like the shrimp taco he ordered (too fishy). This location gets pretty crowded during lunch, whether you come on a weekend or weekday. Decent vegetarian options compared to other taco places. Little on the pricey side, but in line with other fusion or Tex-mex style taco places like Torchy's. For what it is - a casual, non-traditional taco place - Tacodeli does just fine. If you're looking for something more traditional or taco truck style food, this is not the place. Worth a stop if you're in the area and looking for a quick lunch! read more

Taco deli in West Lake Hills gives you the full West Lake Hills experience. Plenty of parking, the space is vast and the outdoor seating is plentiful. Also, dogs are allowed, which is a plus. In terms of tacos - you get the full West Lake Hills experience. The food is OK and not worthy of the price tag. You're better off driving a bit further where you can find a food truck that serves tacos by people who speak English as a second language. This is just another Torchy's, corporate tacos. Also, how in the world do y'all put flames on a sauce to indicate heat when all your sauces have no heat? Just take the flames away, the sauces might as well be pace salsa. The service was great and everyone working during our visit was pleasant. The people who work at this location are doing their job effectively and efficiently. Overall, my wife and I won't be back. If I'm going to spend this kind of money on tacos, I want real tacos and real hot sauce. However, if you live in West Lake Hills - you'll love it. read more

Only issue I have had was last time on Father's Day, I did my review before eating and they forgot the guacamole that I had paid extra for and I was at home, 5 miles away. I am a huge taco fan! We love Torchy's Tacos but heard about Tacodeli so decided to try it. I have to say it was pretty good and comparable. The line was really long so we had to wait a while, but we placed a large order and got everything without any issues. The menu is pretty extensive. I tried all of the chicken tacos and they were pretty tasty. The migas were good, too. The tacos are a pretty good size, not tiny like some street tacos. One person could eat 2-3 depending on your appetite. I would go back agsin and try different tacos next time. read more

You have to understand that Tacodeli is a fast TexMex taco place. By no means am I saying these are among the best tacos in town. But as long as you know and are okay with that, then I'd recommend. VERY disappointed with my experience here this morning. I placed an online order for 17 tacos for my office this morning only to pick it up & notice that this location didn't label any of the tacos with stickers. Not only that, but they did some complicated mapping with numbers 1-6 on the receipt to a bag correlating to a number 1-6. This could work if I got say 3 Ottos, 4 Freakin Vegans, 5 Jess Specials & 5 Sirloin tacos, but my order was more varied than that. Why would bags be put together with an assortment like 1 Freaking Vegan, 1 Otto, and 1 Jess special? On top of that it wasn't quite clear what bag had what tacos because of how they vaguely numbered the receipt. This lead to ppl handling other coworker's tacos. Gross.... For a $75 order + tip I would expect better service than this. I won't be placing a large order from here again. read more

After having issues with meat/seafood added to my vegan tacos at another location - I tried this one. My papadulce taco, a vegan taco, arrived with one piece of brisket on top. I ordered the vegan taco with no modifications. I sent it back and when the replacement arrived everyone at my table was done eating. The woman who helped us said that she's had the same issue with Tacodeli and the manager told her the staff does it on purpose. I'm disgusted that the manager allows this but at least I know why it keeps happening and I'll steer clear of all Tacodelis. read more

Ordered the Pollo Fundido which is supposed to have a nice cheese glaze and we got a hunk of half melted cheese on some chicken cubes with a torn up corn tortilla. Another favorite taco place in Austin. Loved how they have so much variety for vegetarians and non-vegetarians. Huge space outdoors and a few tables indoors. We stopped by around brunchish and ordered the Shrimposito, The Heather, Space Cowboy, All the tacos were delicious but the hot sauces just elevate the flavors to the next level. I had all my tacos with the habanero sauce and that was very spicy and my friends enjoyed the dona as well. They have pretty good coffee. I'm a taco deli girl instead of torches and now they serve Bodacious Birria!!! One of the tastiest things I've ever eaten. Seriously. I know Birria is everything right now (though has been around for a long time but now very on trend) and for good reason. Taco deli knocks it lit if the park.
