I'm convinced Torchy's has no idea how to make a taco. I reluctantly came here to grab a breakfast taco this morning, I figured you can't really go wrong with Migas..hah WRONG. For starters, this was more like a pizza than a taco, topping just piled up in the middle, you can even wrap the taco shut, and when you try, the whole bottom just blows open. PLUS, the ingredients weren't spread out throughout the taco. my first bite was nothing but tortilla and egg, avocado was only in the very middle, and had it stayed together - the last bite would have been ALL green chiles. Another Taco place which carries vegetarian taco options. Torchy's is one of the famous outlets in Austin and if you are visiting Austin the you should visit one of the Torchy's Taco place. This was our first stop in Austin after we landed in Austin. We went for a lunch meal to this place. For lunch timing, the place was lively and packed with people who were there to have a good time. They had a variety of options to chose from. I would recommend that you start with their Queso dip. This is a special dip in my opinion and the best Queso we had so far. Another reason to visit this place is for their Fried Avocado Taco. If you are vegetarian and you have not tried this taco then you are missing good stuff on your life. Overall a great experience and would love to visit this place when I am in Austin. You guys should open a branch in Atlanta as well. read more

I've been to several Torchy's locations in Austin and have never had an issue with the food, it's for the most part always been good. The problem with this location is the overall cleanliness. I came in here for lunch and the floor and tables were filthy. What was odd is there were several employees sitting at a table in the midst of it seemingly unaware or maybe they just didn't care. I asked for a spray bottle to wipe my table down and an employee came over and did it. I used to work in the restaurant business and understand sometimes restaurants are short staffed, busy, and things can get out of hand but this wasn't a few crumbs on the floor, it was a disgusting mess. We tried torchys in downtown a few months ago and fell in love with the food. So now we are residents, we tried the Lakeway location several times. The first day was great, so much we came back the second day but during rush hour. This time we got the food to go as it was extremely busy and loud. Unfortunately, it seems that there was cross contamination in the kitchen as we both got completely different tacos, and we both felt sick immediately after eating which then lead to a long night in the bathroom. During our first visit at lunch, it was quite dirty. Tables and chairs scattered everywhere and seemed pretty unorganized. I was also surprised to see things like the straws just sitting in an open plastic container, who knows how many people have buried their hands in that, highly unsanitary. Our second visit again was during rush hour, so we got our orders to go as it was very loud. Can Torchy's get even BETTER? This is an awesome location with a more upscale look that mixes Torchy's traditional off-beat look with a sort of Hopdoddy's flair. There's also a bar there that serves hard liquor! Stopping on opening day to try their fare - as always the tacos are magnificent, and the service was stellar. Looking forward to trying out the bar (at a Torchy's!) sometime soon. This place scores a 5 out of 5 on the 'CTJ Scale', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. What was once a "go-to" spot for us in Lakeway will not be visited again. The last couple of times we got takeout, the quality of the food was weak, coupled with the significant increase in price has us totally disappointed. We we walked in and we saw a long line to the order counter. Then luckily one of the bartender came by and invited us to the bar where we could have full service without the ususal waiting. I was fortunate enough to have a friend from Texas that texted me to look up their secret menu, as I was in line contemplating my many options of various tacos. The secret menu has an additional half a dozen options. I went with the most popular, green chile pork missionary style, fried avocado, Alabama shakes, Baja shrimp, Ace of spades, and lots of chips and green chile queso (I went twice during my brief stay because it was that good!). I do recommend getting the green chile pork missionary style; the difference is that it includes a crispy tacos shell inside the soft. The sauces and seasoning was delicious, but it might have been a little too much meat for me as they pile it on and do not skimp. Baja shrimp was the absolute favorite of the group. The green chile queso should be ordered every time and do not share it with more than 2 other people because that will not be enough queso to go around. I wouldn't recommend coming here, its basically a small step up from fast food tacos. I had the migas taco and the baja shrimp. The migas was okay, the crispy tortilla strip stabbed me in the mouth the first bite so be careful of that, the cheese was really bad quality but the verde salsa was pretty good. The baja shrimp was definitely the worse of the two, the shrimp was very over cooked, I wasn't even sure it was shrimp by the flavor. I have yet to eat at a Torchy's I haven't enjoyed. This was no exception. My husband and I were traveling through Lakeway and we made a mobile order on the way to the restaurant. We parked and were able to walk up to the outside patio bar to grab our pickup order. It was ready on time and they had markings on the floor of the patio for social distancing. The bartenders were quick to help. The food was delicious as usual. We ordered a trailer park extra trashy taco, a Baja shrimp, and the burrito. My husband raved about his burrito. I felt like all of my ingredients were fresh and the flavors complimented each other well. Especially on the Baja shrimp. The trailer park extra trashy was a mush of queso-y goodness. We came in here just get a quick bite and looking over the menu, the shrimp taco sounded fun. It was a little disappointing, finding out the brownies were made somewhere else. So they staff member pointed out a selection called a "nookie" I believe. I was told that they were pretty popular. Best way to describe it was like simi-cooked cookie dough ball lightly dusted with powdered sugar. Went here on a recent family trip to Austin. Apparently this is a great local tradition (new since I lived here some 25 years ago!) My dad, brother, and his family love this place and I can see why. The staff is very nice and helpful with suggestions. The margarita is delicious and they have a great variety of sodas in their fountain - a Maine company. The salsa and chips are great. The chips are very crispy and light. We went to the Bee Cave/Westlake area location but I saw them all over this great big town while driving a million miles in four days. read more

I am not one to leave reviews but this specific location is a mess. It seems very understaffed so it's understandable that they are struggling, but it isn't so much the restaurant or the staff, it's the actual food. The chicken never tastes like the other locations, it is dripping with grease to the extent that the entire tortilla is sopping wet. The shredded cheese to protein ratio is pretty ridiculous as well. Paying these prices per taco to get a tortilla with some veggies, a couple scraps of greasy meat and then a mound of shredded cheese to make it look like a decent sized taco is outrageous. I've tried numerous times to give this location another shot but it's a waste of money every single time and with a family of 5, it is no longer worth it in my opinion. I'll drive across town to another location before I give this one any more of my business, this place needs some work. read more

Then you call Door Dash and they blame Torchy's. Meanwhile the customer is left without parts of their order that they have paid for and no one will fix the issue.
