This was a horrible experience. I would give it zero stars if I could. The staff was awful, starting with the girl at the order counter with a huge attitude... like we were bothering her to be ordering food. The restaurant was extremely dirty and run down. I couldn't even eat my second taco because I was so grossed out what their kitchen probably looked like after seeing what their dining room looked like... we would NEVER go back and would not recommend AT ALL! Super disappointed in this Torchy's once again. Came in for breakfast at 0905, no one was at the register, so we finally ordered at 0915. I explicitly asked for corn tortillas and when we received our food at 0930 (no other customers here), they were on flour. When I sent them back they came back out and clearly just moved the inside of the taco into a corn tortilla. As someone with a wheat allergy, it's really annoying that they don't listen to the order and then don't care enough to even remake it. It's always convenient for me and my wife to stop in at this Northfield Torchy's before we pick up our pooch from doggy day care since they're both located in Stapleton. Torchy's offers us a quick bite and a golden margarita (or two) and we always find a seat at the bar so we don't have to wait in the always long line. Additinally, full service is only available at the bar which I always prefer over the fast casual concept. Recommended always is the queso, always satisfying in the way that melty cheese is and the version at Torchy's is quite good. The tacos are a-ok as well with engough variety to satisfy various tastes. The tacos have gimicky names, but it helps to remember what's in them. For example, the Trailer Park has fried chicken and if you want a Trashy Trailer Park just add queso; the Alabama Shake taco has fried catfish and a nice zing. You get the idea, just look at the menu. So you may ask why the two stars? Service, or more appropriately lack of service and the dirtiness of the bar and restaurant as a whole. It seems that on each visit this restaurant is understaffed for the volume of guests that pass throuigh. Our bartender was scrambling to provide drinks for her bar guests and also service the entire restaurant, by herself. There was no time for her to interact with her bar patrons or make recomendations. Her robotic "what do you want" and perfunctory interactions left me feeling like just another number rather than a guest. Maybe a robot would have actually been better (I know, it's coming). Service actually got worse over the course of our stay since after taking our order she couldn't get back to us to check in on how we were doing, offer timely refills, etc. Sad. Then there is the absolutely disgusting way that the bar is maintained. Before we sat down there were dirty plates left behind from the previous patrons - the guests were gone so that means no clearing had occurred before check reconciliation. Terrible. A perfunctory wipe from a dubious rag was all the cleaning the bar counter got before we sat down. We still stayed. The glass drop off area at the bar, in full view of the customers, had no less than 30 dirty glasses waiting to be cleaned. They remained there for our entire 50 minute stay. This pissed me off enough to mention it to the manager. The manager basically had nothing to say except that they were understaffed. That is another fail - when guests actually speak up to inform managment about their experience and are given the brush off that's really poor. So will we go back? Not so sure. Los Chingones is also in Stapleton. Get your act together Torchy's - your food is fine but the chronic understaffing and poor response from your shift manager has a lot of room for improvement. read more

My first time at Torchy's was an absolute blast. It was everyone's first time there, first time meeting some of the s.o's family, and what have you! We started with a round of frozen margaritas. Stopped in on a Friday night. The menu had over a dozen tacos. There's a breakfast section which my kiddo loved! We ordered a variety of 7 tacos and chips and salsa. We were given a buzzer to indicate our food was ready. Seating is open. We found a table easily. The food came out so we didn't have to get up until we left. I had the pork carnitas taco and O.M.G it was stuffed full of carnitas! It was so yummy! Honestly I could have eaten two of the carnitas tacos and would have been good. I had a chicken taco and fish taco that were both ok. My husband had a shrimp taco that he really liked. Of course every taco meal deserves a margarita! I had a frozen strawberry margarita which was yummy! I'll defiantly be going back for more carnitas! Adding a corn tortilla option would further enhance the flavor of the tacos! read more

It's true they can be slow and the outdoor tables need to me cleaned more often but we still enjoy coming here. My favs are the fried avocado and the Democrat on corn tortillas plus the queso and guacamole with chips. If you want take out, order online 15/20 minutes ahead of time and then skip the line and pick up at the register to the left. Or when your not in a rush order in and enjoy the patio on a beautiful COLORADO day. I ordered 3 tacos (Green Chile Pork, Beef Fajita and the Brisket which was recommended by the cashier) and a Mexican coke... I spent about $20. The Pros: Good portions. The tacos were pretty big and they seemed to have a decent variety. The staff was friendly and the place was clean. The Cons: all served on flour tortillas (RED FLAG lol). The flavors were ok. I went here on a Wednesday afternoon after a suggestion from a friend. I had never heard of Torchy's before, but I was pleasantly surprised by what I found. The restaurant is tucked away in a nice looking area. The food isn't Mexican, it's more like different concepts in taco form. I got 3 tacos as well as chips and guac to share. Chips and guac: Torchy's definitely nailed their chips and guac. While slightly on the pricier side compared to competitors, Torchy's absolutely got their chips and guac right. Their chips are perfectly crispy but with enough structural integrity to scoop up a large amount of guac without breaking. Furthermore, the chips had the right amount of salt. There are too many places that serve chips that either suck as a guac delivery vehicle or don't have enough/have too much salt. The guac itself was really well made. It was on the smoother side, but I'm not complaining. It tasted fresh and had good flavor. Breakfast taco: the breakfast taco is the greatest contribution to mankind ever, and Torchy's nails their tacos. The taco itself was pretty big, and it was loaded with eggs and cheese. The hot sauce provided was also amazing. My only complaint here is that I would've wished for a bit more of the jalapeno cheddar sausage, but overall I really liked it. Trailer park taco: this is their taco that has fried chicken on it, and it is a banger. Probably my favorite taco of my 3, the taco itself was packed with toppings and tasted very good. Crossroads taco: probably the least memorable of the 3 tacos and my least favorite. The brisket wasn't as flavorful as I liked, and it felt like as a result, I only really tasted the toppings with the brisket acting as a texture changer only. For tacos, this place is slightly on the pricier side, but it's definitely not a terrible option for lunch or dinner. read more

Salivating thinking about these tacos. Torchy's Tacos are much better than I expected! We went here on a Friday evening and it was crazy packed. You can order tacos at the bar, but we weren't able to even use that short cut because the bar was full. Although long, the line actually did go fairly quickly. My husband ordered two of the green chile pork tacos, while I was clearly more hungry and adventurous. I had three tacos: the Democrat (barbacoa with avocado), Brushfire (Jamaican jerk chicken and mango), and Alabama Shake (fried catfish and colesaw). Brushfire and Alabama tie for my favorite, although the democrat was also good. The brushfire comes with an extremely spicy orange sauce. Do beware, I loove spicy things, but next time I'm going to have to use the orange sauce sparingly. The orange sauce is definitely torchy! On a side note, I'm a huge al pastor fan so I was a little disappointed I didn't see a taco with their take on al pastor. Although, I'm glad they had mango for the brushfire. I love fruit in my tacos and the mango is definitely why I had to get a brushfire! Overall, good experience despite the crowding, and delicious tacos with creative names! I really wanted to like this place, but I just can't recommend it. We ordered online to-go, and they had my order ready within 10 minutes of placing it, so that was great. However, the tacos were greasy, soggy, and did NOT travel well. There was only one taco out of four that ended up even being edible beyond the first bite in our order. On that one taco (the Matador) the pickled onions gave it most of the flavor, but the rest of the filling was pretty bland. The guacamole was also bland. The queso was OK, not great but not bad. We stopped into this location on the way to a friends house. While there was a long line like at the Broadway location, the line moved quickly and we were able to get a seat before we got our food. I ordered the chicken fajita, the democrat, and the Baja shrimp. What I like about this location the most is their generous portion size. My tacos were so stuffed I had a hard time grabbing the tortilla (not a complaint but a complement) and I was stuffed after 2 tacos. Surprisingly I found two meatless elections, fried avocado and fried portobello tacos. Pretty much the same topping but the hot sauces are different. Unfortunately, I am not a fan of soft tacos but I was willing to try them, my other half? Um, not so much. He passed. Be warned, this place is slow to being food put to your table. We wound up trying margarita for him, I just stuck to a soft drinks , Mexican Cola. It was sweet, not too bad. The margarita didn't get a rave review from my guy. By the time the food came put I was hungry. I do love portobello mushrooms so I tried this one first. Deep frying it was not a good idea in my opinion since alot of that rich taste of the mushroom was lost. The avocado taco was not too bad. I actually I liked it . Not the best experience. I paid for 6 tacos to-go and only got 4 of them, that alone makes me really not want to come back even if the food is delicious. I didn't realize it until I had left and ended up at home. Ordering was fast, but something must have gone wrong in the process with me receiving such a strange experience and the incorrect amount of tacos. They also don't have a great process for to-go orders regarding where people should stand to wait for their orders. I was told by the cashier they would come find me with my order even if I was outside, but they didn't even attempt to do that. I was sitting outside because of COVID right next to the door that goes out to the patio. I waited for about 20 minutes, then went back up to the front of the restaurant to ask about my order and my food was sitting next to the cashier waiting for me for who knows long. I heard someone from the kitchen come out to find another to-go order customer, whisper an order name, then set it down next to the cashier. They don't seem to be trying too hard to find their to-go customers. Really not a safe process with COVID if you are trying to keep people moving through the restaurant instead of congregating and waiting for long periods of time. All employees were wearing masks, and they had social distance directions on the floor with one way traffic as well, although there is no way to do one way traffic since you apparently have to go back into the restaurant to get your to-go order and back tracking on the one way directions.
