One of my fave taco places in Dallas! Definitely try to make it in here before the lunch crowd because the line tends to reach out the door, but they seem to move pretty quickly. I love trying the different specialty tacos (Tipsy Chick, Alabama Shake etc.), especially the Taco of the month, which changes every month. This recent visit the Brushfire caught my eye - Jamaican Jerk chicken with grilled jalapenos and mango! Combined with the SUPER SPICY Diablo sauce, a great combination of flavors and sweet and spicy. The Crossroads - Smoked brisket with fresh avocados - was good but a little dry. Guacamole with chips - always yummy but the guac could use a little more seasonings for flavor (maybe just more salt?) Despite the increasing prices, I will always come here for a fun Friday evening. The Brushfire is my taco of choice and the Hillbilly Chips and Queso is incredible. This is a great Torchy's, and perhaps that is the reason it is ALWAYS busy! My favorite here is the Chicken Fajita Taco. I almost always get the Queso and Chips with it as well. Good stuff! Stopped by Torchy's for lunch with a friend before we both when on a trip abroad a couple weeks ago. I've had Torchy's breakfast tacos brought into the office before, but I'd never actually been to a brick and mortar shop, so I was excited to try some of the regular menu items. The friend I was with had visited often, but never had the fish tacos before, so I decided to try the Mr. Pink and Mr. Orange. He also ordered the green chile queso for us to share. The kitchen forgot my request for no cilantro, so I had to send my tacos back, but that was just a minor hiccup. The queso was super delicious, and the tacos were also really good -- I think I preferred the Mr. Orange, as the grilled corn and black bean relish was very yummy and the salmon was flaky and flavorful. The corn tacos were rather dry; next time I'll probably opt for the flour ones and see how they compare. Ordering, seating, and service were pretty quick especially considering the lunch rush! Parking is kind of a pain, but if you do a bit of circling you should be able to find a spot. read more

I've been to Torchys before and their food is typically good. I walked in with my mind around 2 tacos I wanted (both vegetarian friendly). As I am ordering, the lady asks me what I'm trying to do and I suggest eliminate dairy. She sighs heavily and says OK I have to adjust all your tacos. She was helpful but with an attitude which was off-putting. So we find a place to sit and wait for our food and we see this food runner who should NOT be touching food. In fact, it really kind of grossed me out. He was wearing pajama pants, scratching himself and hair wasn't up but looked like he hadn't showered in months. I immediately was turned off and mumbled that if this guy delivers my food... xxx. He did, deliver it. He was friendly but I doubt he washed his hands after he scratched himself in multiple places. And I think it was the same guy I saw outside smoking when I got out of the car to head inside. The food was okay. The vegan versions weren't as good as the regular versions. Avocado and Portabella mushrooms were not fried as they are swiped with egg before battered. Cheese certainly helps the tacos and for these there was none. So my point is they have vegan options but I didn't think they were very good. 2 stars for the gross guy delivering our food and the attitude at the counter. I didn't ask or pay for your judgment. I never really have much to complain about at Torchy's; they honestly have the best tex-mex tacos. I've been eating at Torchy's for around 7 years and their consistency has never failed. I always get the same two tacos with corn tortillas: the Fried Avocado and the Crossroads (brisket and grilled onion). I like that they have several good beers on draft (Breckenridge porter and peticolas velvet hammer are the best imo) and I love that they have Maine Root drinks at the soda fountain. Back when this location opened 5(ish) years ago, I was excited to try it. It's close to my house and my former hairstylist (who was also nearby) raved about their breakfast tacos. So my husband and I decided to make a date night of it and we were in love. In fact, we were eating there about once a week. Occasionally, we would order pick-up and started to notice that more often than not, when we'd get home with our food, something was wrong with our order. We have dietary restrictions and food allergies, so it's not like we could shrug it off and just eat what we were given. It was a bit frustrating and after it happened on several occasions, we began to check our order before leaving the restaurant. Because of these mistakes, our once a week Torchy's dining slowly dwindled to once every couple of weeks to once a month, then once every couple of months...and then the pandemic hit. We made the decision to only do delivery. 9 out of 10 times our orders have been wrong, but tonight was the last straw and sadly...I'm done with Torchy's. We placed an order with DoorDash - 2 BYO tacos, 1 Migas, 1 Mr. Orange, and 1/2 orders of guacamole and queso. Got it? Cool. DoorDash delivers. We get 2 bacon, egg, and cheese tacos and 2 Wranglers. WTF?? Come to find out...this was on our Dasher. He had picked up the wrong order meant for someone with a similar (but not exactly the same) name. OK. Not Torchy's fault. My husband called the restaurant to see what could be done and was on hold for nearly 10 minutes waiting to talk to the manager. Once he was connected, he explained the mistake and the manager said he would send our correct order back out. Great! We're pretty hungry by now. About 20 minutes later, my husband gets a call from Torchy's....because Doordash had already refunded us a measly $10 of our almost $40 order due to the driver's error, we now had to go pick our food up. Screw you, DoorDash. Hubby and I are beyond frustrated at this point, but looking forward to finally getting our food. My husband comes home, unpacks the order, and guess what?!? Yup! Our order was wrong! No guacamole and no Migas. I. Don't. Get. It. These errors only seem to happen on orders that are not for dine-in. I've never worked in the food industry business, but I'd love to be able to understand why this continues to happen on pick-up and delivery orders. I'm sad that I can no longer trust this place of business to get a simple order correct. I've tried again and again to give them "just one more chance" but tonight was it. This is my NEW favorite taco joint in Dallas/Plano/Richardson! I really did not know what to expect in the beginning since it was my first time there and we made sure to make it before happy hour ended. We had margaritas -- swirl -- I had strawberry and peach mixed and he had strawberry and wildberry mixed. I also had a Tequila Sunriser (because it is my favorite drink) and we had a couple of shots of their house Tequila which was not bad straight/dry. I can only speak on the tacos that I ate. So, the first time that we went, I had one Trailer Park Taco and one Chicken Fajita Taco. I really enjoyed them both! Great taste, texture, and I really like that I can customize them because I do not like super spicy foods. We shared a Hillbilly Queso and Chips and it was sooooo good. OMG. Like the right amount of spicy for me. The chips were fresh and everything! The first time we ate in the restaurant and the Hillbilly Queso and Chips were fresh and out to us right as we sat down and our tacos came out about 10 minutes after we ordered. The second time I indulged in Torchy's, we ordered to go and I just got Trailer Park Tacos with chipotle ranch sauce and an order of the Hillbilly Queso and Chips. Literally some of the best tacos that I have had in Texas (which I've only visited Houston and Dallas so far)! Either way, a really good place to go and get some tasty tacos on any day and enjoy a nice happy hour. I had the shrimp tacos and my friend had a fajita chicken salad. Both were very tasty & especially love the dressings. ATMOSPHERE: This is a double-edged sword: it is a hopping place with a lot of energy, which makes it hard to hear your lunch mates. I think this will be our next go-to place for happy hour! Ok, if y'all know me, y'all know tacos would be part of my last meal and that Torchy's is my jam. When this location opened up, I was super excited because I would now have my favorite taco place 10 min away as opposed to 25 minutes. Unfortunately, this location is not up to par with others. The tacos here are definitely good except they have forgotten things or messed up orders more than a few times now. I'll be missing a lime wedge in my Democrat or they'll forget to toss in the Diablo sauce I requested. I'll order certain tacos on corn and others on flour and I'll end up with all corn tortilla tacos. They need to work on consistency and getting orders correct. Side note: Twice now they have had "plumbing issues" thus not allowing them to make anything. Both times I placed an online order but they would fail to call me to tell me they are having issues until I get there. The plumbing issues are not their fault but they should make it a priority to let their customers know as to not waste their time and gas driving to the restaurant. read more
