This is actually a complaint about their so-called catering service. We looked at the catering info https://torchystacos.com/wp-content/uploads/torchys_catering__TX_OK_AR.pdf, where it clearly states each party tray feeds about 20 people ("Our Party Packs include plates, forks, spoons, napkins, and serving utensils - all that's left is giving your guests a place to gather! Each Party Pack feeds approximately 20 people."). We had about 70 guests, and ordered 5 trays, assuming that's enough for 100. Imagine our surprise when during the wedding we ran out of food, with dozen guests having to eat only chips and salsa. Round Rock management said they know nothing about 20ppl/tray and they haven't done anything wrong. Bottom line, the damage is done. They offered some gift cards to make is feel better. read more

The tacos are great, but I was very disappointed that they were out of queso. I wouldn't have been so frustrated that they were out if the girl at the register with the braces, dark hair, and glasses (server 1313) wasn't so rude about it. She had said they were out & were making it, and that it would be another 30 minutes before there was any. At the end of our order, we decided we would wait until there was some and go ahead and order the queso. She rudely informed us that they didn't have any. We came in at 2:00- I don't understand why you run out of a key menu item in the lunch hour, say your making some, but refuse to sell it to those who are willing to wait. Regardless of this, she didn't crack a smile or even act like she was remotely happy to be there. I'll just go to the Taco Bell off of university. I live in central Austin, but was working in round Rock on August 1, 2021 Sunday. I had to have lunch somewhere. I remembered that torchys tacos in Windsor Park in Austin or maybe somewhere else, when they just first opened, were good. To my big disappointment, it is not the same restaurant anymore. The portions are smaller, tacos are not made in house anymore. I suppose they were made in house previously, because they were tasty. The content of the salmon taco was microscopic and not great. Green Chile queso is expensive and not great! Yes, we want to support locals, but wait a minute, shouldn't they keep up with the highest standards??? This is Austin, an expensive place to live. This is one of the larger locations. Great space but very understaffed. They do not have enough staff for the size of this location. Not sure what they are thinking but it's not rocket science to know you need more employees if your space is larger and is busy. Hopefully they will get this figured out sooner than later. for many years, your quality has wained, but I am impressed at Torchy's has redeemed themself! The queso is definitely the best in Austin! Previously, their corn tortillas were dry and brittle; the new tortillas are great(I am not too sure how long they've had these newer tortillas, because I had stopped coming to torchy's). We ordered online with a set pickup time only to wait 40min beyond our pickup time to get our tacos. On the plus side, the order was correct. We had a variety of 8 different tacos with the brushfire add bacon to be the winner. The chipotle sauce mixed with diablo sauce also seemed to be the best combo. I have eaten at Torchy's for over a year and half as a place I've always enjoyed eating at, but their quality has dropped significantly. The last three times (we were hoping it was just a fluke), it's been subpar. Their food used to be great, but it just hasn't been where it was previously. Arrived to be told they shut their lobby before the business closed. We came here specifically from out of town thinking that we would be able to dine in. It didn't state anywhere on Google or their website that the their lobby closed before end of business for take out orders only. We apparently missed the "cut off" by minutes. I used to be a big fan of torchy's, but as of late the quality has been dropping. The last straw was them switching from maine root to coke for their drink selection. Of course the price for a drink did not change along with that. I can safely say this was the only reason i still came here. I've visited this location several times. Each time I sit at the bar. Parking is easy to find, and the lot and venue (inside and out) is very clean. There is even a playground for the kids out back. On Sundays they have drink specials, and my favorite, by far is the sangria. If it's an especially hard day, I'd recommend the tequila sunrise. I have yet to find a taco that I did not like, except the one with barbacoa (but that has NOTHING to do with the construction and flavor mixture of the taco... I'm just not a fan of barbacoa). We arrived at 9:00pm on Thursday. I know the place is new and everyone loves new places, but we should be good at 9:00 during the week, right? We pull in and the parking lot is completely full. We are lucky as someone is pulling out and we can slip in. We walk inside and the place looks gorgeous. They did nice work to the old PS35 pizza place. The girl at the counter says, "Just want to warn you that the kitchen is backed up and food is taking over an hour to come out." Without hesitation, I turned around and walked out. Waited 50 mins for our pick up order--3 tacos and a queso, nothing special--and watched a walk-in order and get her food before ours. Asked to speak with manager KIRA and then our food came right out, manager never came. Got food home and one taco had no meat in it. They've messed up our orders too many times and poor quality when they do get it right. Love the food but this place service is pretty slow even when ordering before. My girlfriend and I ordered just two simple tacos and some queso on the phone and they told us a 30 minute wait so we arrived in about 25 minutes and ended up waiting and additional 45-50 minutes at the restaurant before even getting our food. And then they didn't even say sorry for the wait or anything. I mean the whole point of ordering for pick up is so you don't have to wait as long. This was our second visit to this Torchy's. I love their tacos. However, this Torchy's can't seem to get us our order. Our dining companions placed their order just after us. They received their food and we asked the waitress about ours. She checked and said it was coming out. Welllllllll, my husband tackled another waiter 15 minutes later and woops, they hadn't made our order. They got it to us fairly quickly after that, but it would have been nice if they had refreshed our chip and salsa order while we waited, or something other than a just a quick "sorry". I arrived at 7:50 to pick up my taco orders and I'm just now getting my order at 8:41 p.m.. The flour tortilla's were store bought and cold. The corn had this weird after taste that tasted more like some kind of preservative. Skip the corn. Very pricey tacos for what you would expect. Worst service ever. When you walk in you order your food, pay and tip. This young lady was nice. We get our seat and sit down. The food comes out and the server ask if we needed anything else we said ketchup. She walks off we think she is getting the ketchup for us. While waiting i notice I didn't get one of my tacos. I figured I let her know when she comes back with the catch up. We waited for about 15 minutes for it and she never came back. So i when up to the front desk and asked her. She told me to go let the guy know at the other counter. I tell him I didn't receive my other taco and I haven't seen our waitress and she never brought our ketchup. He says we do the have ketchup. I said that would have been good to know instead of thinking she was getting and waiting for nothing. And this is why I don't like to pre tip. I've only been to this location a handful of times and it's seems a little chaotic. The soda dispenser is backed up with customers trying to fill their cups... not sure why they only have one? Also, they're not clear on communicating as to which side needs to be up on your order device - maybe it's me, but they should add a sticker to say 'this side up' so I can get my order. Speaking of orders... I've been in the store 2x ordering the same item.. ONE Baja Shrimp Taco...just one and has taken 25-30 minutes. There has to be a better process in getting customers who only order one item out the door quicker. The manager apologized, but he looks overwhelmed. I have decided that I will no longer go to this location- there needs to be a better process in managing this location. read more

Great atmosphere and their service is great, but the food isn't as great. As a California-native this was very disappointing to "taco enthusiasts" such as myself. The tacos have more toppings than needed and the meat was dry. I felt as if they were and are trying to do too much on such a simple food such as tacos. So, I ordered the Democrat ($4.50) and the Beef Fajita ($4.50)tacos and the Democrat was better in the sense that it was a very simple and had regular toppings (minus the avocado and cotija cheese). Whereas the beef fajita had was odd because the fajita meat was bland and the bell peppers were still uncooked which added a crunch to the taco which is normally never what's expected when eating a taco. Overall, Torchy's had a very spacious and comfortable eating atmosphere which is why I felt generous in reviewing it and made my visit there pleasurable, but the food is just a disappointment especially for the outrageous price. I essentially payed $3.25 just for the toppings. Finally, I could not see myself coming back nor recommending this place to anyone because they serve American Tacos, and not tacos. Save yourself the money and get tacos elsewhere. read more
