I can't believe it took this long to try Pflugerville Taco House. Our go-to taco place is a bit of a drive, but this place is definitely a great alternative, a 1b to our 1a. Parking is pretty easy: a good amount of parking on in a small lot and on the street, but there's always available spots due to the low amount of traffic in the area. The place is small with only 6-ish tables, but again, not a lot of traffic, so there's usually a few tables available if you're dining in. The staff is super nice and friendly. They have a nice variety of tacos, with a bunch of classic and modern versions. My go to order is the Al Pastor, Barbacoa, and the chips and salsa. The Al Pastor is one of the best versions I've had, with pineapple chunks enhancing the flavor from the crispy pork. The barbacoa is tender and fatty, an big punch of flavor. The red salsa that is super spicy as well. A bit too spicy for me, but has wonderful flavor. This place is looking to be our newest default taco place. read more

First, maybe a little bias as I regularly visit here. *wink*. BUT I wouldn't be a regular if I wasn't extremely happy with: Quality of the food, the extremely friendly atmosphere AND service that goes above and beyond. Taco House kinda reminds me of the small "mom and pop" shops back home, where you don't feel like a customer when you enter, but extended family. You'll see this almost anytime, the endless banter between everyone. People who don't know each other start chatting it up. A unity which is much needed now a days. Okay, now let's not get off topic. We are here for the tacos. Tacos range from your standard tacos (fajita and Al pastor etc) to the more unique specialities. I haven't had a bad taco. I saw this place on Yelp while looking for a good breakfast taco spot. It was easy enough to find, they have parking right outside of the location which was convenient. It's a a cozy little spot that has good energy. There were people dining in, but most seemed to be ordering takeout which is also what I did. I wasn't sure of how big or small the tacos would be so I ordered 3, all potato, egg, bacon and cheese. The tacos were on the smaller side, but they tasted good and were filling. My only regret is not asking for extra salsa. I asked for both red and green, they gave me 2 green and 1 red. All in all, I'd recommend stopping by if you're in the area, the vibes were right and they weren't too expensive. I look forward to trying other things on the menu next time. read more

Taco has a good flavor, but unfortunately, it lists on Uber Eats that you will get cheese, egg and bacon on your taco, and that the items you choose are just additional to the taco. This is not the case only the items you choose out of the list are what will go on your taco. So at the top where it says your taco will come with egg, cheese, and bacon, is incorrect. read more

This was a tucked off spot I found nearby an Airbnb I stayed this weekend. Had good reviews so had to check it out. The staff were nice and quick with my order. The place is small so i noticed it was all order for takeout mostly. As for my tacos, I didn't take a pic but the nopales and egg were my favorite. Great salsa with the tacos as well. The downside was my potatoes in the tacos weren't cooked fully or right to where they were started to get soft. Didn't enjoy that too much. The barbacoa was ok. Wasn't a lot of flavor to it. And the tortillas were a little chewy. I'm very picky when it comes to my tacos, so I can't say I'd return to try it again. Sorry guys. read more

My husband and I went after church recently because we heard (years ago) that this place was really good. Service was fast. Location is small but it seems more like a place you just place to go orders. We tried calling in an order, as their menu states you can call in for pickup. However, the line went straight to voicemail. So you may have to go in person to place your order. I got 2 tacos, 1 steak fajita and 1 pastor. My husband got 2 breakfast tacos and a carne guisada taco. He really liked his carne guisada taco. However, my 2 tacos were EXTREMELY greasy. I have actually never had a taco that greasy. And I'm not one to shy away from some grease, but this was a crazy amount. It was a big no for me. My husband's tacos were not greasy, so perhaps it was just the type of tacos I ordered. Hands down my favorite taco stop! I have started taking my kids to get breakfast tacos and they absolutely love the bacon, egg, and cheese tacos. They are very tasty. I have tried several of the tacos, and they are all amazing. Right now I have been getting the Avalon add Eggs, but as a burrito. The sauces are great as well. I've just gotten hip to the jalepeño ranch. When you walk in it's small, but cozy. I love stopping by because it feels like a home and everyone knows everyone. I've heard really good things about the breakfast tacos but came around lunch time so I opted for a beef fajita lunch burrito. The restaurant is only open until 2pm and pretty small so it's packed during lunch time. A teeny bit chaotic in there because of the lack of space so you're better off taking your order to go. The beef burrito was flavorful and has a nice kick to it with the pico and jalapeños; it's also toasted on the outside so it has great texture; however it is a bit steep for $11 and it's small. You could get a chipotle burritos twice the size for the same price. I really wish there was more rice. Next time I'm going to try their breakfast tacos. Needed a light and cheap snack to hold us over, and found this place. Got the chicken fajita taco and carne guisada. The chicken was seasoned well. I didn't realize that the carne guisada doesn't come with any fixings (like the traditional cilantro/onion, etc), but it was a lot of meat! Small seating area (4 ish tables) and no bathroom that I could see. Free street parking. Customer service was nice. After reading the raving reviews, I really wanted to try the tacos. The pictures of the food looked great; the reviews were mostly positive so I said let's give it a try. I called the phone number to place my order to go and there was a message saying the number didn't work so I just figured I dialed the wrong number. When I tried to find a website of the restaurant, there wasn't one, but there was a link to Facebook and I was able to retrieve the number from. However, it was the same number that I previously dialed. I called again and received the same message about the number not working. Bummer! Now, I had to drive over there, wait in line, place my order and wait because I wasn't able to call over the phone to place my order. There were a lot of people waiting inside and a few people waiting outside at the patio tables for their orders. The inside is very small so there's not much seating, but it seems like it would be too crowded to dine-in on the inside; maybe it's better to eat outside. When I saw the line and the amount of people waiting, I felt a sense of confirmation that the tacos would be delicious. The tacos were not at all good. I really wanted to love the tacos, but they were no bueno. I ordered one on flour and one on corn for myself and about 8 other tacos all on flour for other people. As I'm eating the first taco, I was confused because the reviews were good and the line was long which led me to believe this taco was about to be on point, but my taco wasn't good...at all. By far our most visited breakfast option in Pflugerville. I just love Pflugerville taco house!! The tacos are always delicious but they have this tower of carnitas that is my absolute favorite. We are able to share the carnitas tower between two people perfectly and it is one of my favorite breakfasts. It's this huge plate of potatoes, fried tortillas, eggs, queso, and carnitas, it's such a decadent dish but an incredibly satisfying meal for when you need a whole bunch of carbs and cheese for whatever reason. They also have incredible salsas. Honestly the food is so great but the real winner that keeps me coming back here every time is how friendly everyone is. I always have so much fun here. We never get take out anymore because I would never wanna miss out on the great conversations. The mother and daughter team who run the front of house are so awesome. They are kind, friendly, and so funny. I never leave without a smile on my face. It's a small family ran restaurant that really makes you feel like you are part of the family as well. You can call in your order or take chances on getting one of the 4/5 tables here. My favorite things here is the Pflautas and the Carnitas tower. Lemme tell you about these flautas. They're fried up crispy and topped with creama, verde sauce, cheese, lettuce, and avocado. The flavor is so bomb. They're messy, they're delicious, they're EVERYTHING!! The carnitas tower is a big ole meal. Like 3 toastadas layered with beans, potatoes, queso, eggs, and carnitas. It's definitely enough for 2 to feast on. I also enjoy their carne guisada tacos. I don't remember what our friend ordered, but I ordered a breakfast burrito and my fiancé ordered a burrito and possibly a breakfast taco as well. We waited such. a. long. time. for our food. There was a line after we came in and everyone after us got their food before us. When we finally got our food, I loved that it was piping hot, fresh! I thought it was good the first few bites, but honestly, I think that the rice could have been a bit more flavorful and the over burrito overall was okay. I really wanted to like Pflugerville Taco House, but my repeated experiences there have been disappointing due to significant issues with their orders. Today was the final straw. I went in person to order breakfast tacos and a burrito. Since I'm lactose intolerant, I specifically requested no cheese or dairy on my tacos. Despite this, they added cheese to everything except one taco. For the burrito, I clearly stated multiple times (7 to 8 times), I wanted only meat, cheese, and potatoes. I explicitly told them not to add anything else, but luckily, I checked the burrito before leaving. To my frustration, it had onions and bell peppers--ingredients not even listed on the menu. My wife is allergic to onions, and I had been extremely clear about what I wanted. When I pointed out the mistake, the staff member blamed the cook, though it was evident she had entered the order incorrectly. She initially denied responsibility but eventually admitted her error after showing me the ticket, which had instructions like "no pico de gallo" and "no avocado." I reiterated that my request was for only meat, cheese, and potatoes, yet she insisted that's just how their burrito is made. This was confusing and frustrating, especially since the menu only lists it as a "steak burrito" with no mention of fajita-style ingredients. When I questioned this, she told me to stop having an attitude, which only escalated the situation. At that point, I asked for a refund, but her dismissive attitude--repeating "that's how the burrito comes"--was the final straw. I decided to leave without the burrito and refund because I was too frustrated to continue the interaction. While their sausage tacos are decent, the customer service and overall handling of food allergies and preferences are unacceptable. Here's what I got on my first visit sorted by preference and delishness: Springhill This taco is simply Fire! There is a generous amount of plump shrimp with mango, pico de gallo, pickled red onions, spring mix and some jalapeno ranch to boot. It's saucy with a hint of tanginess and none of the flavors overpower one another making every bite wonderful to the last. I gotta say this one was made to perfection. Kelly This taco, much like Springhill was also made to perfection. Every bite tastes better than the last. The combination of soft fish with, black beans, avocado, pickled cabbage and jalapeno ranch gives it a really creamy texture and as you chew, that creamy goodness explodes in flavor. Well done! Avalon The chorizo here is the main event, so if you love chorizo, this would be your taco. For me though, it's a bit too overpowering and a tad on the salty side. There is jack cheese in it but I barely tasted it. IMO, add a bit more jack cheese and reduce the amount of chorizo. The Pecan This taco is my least favorite. The chicken has great flavor but it's definitely on the dry side and because of that it didn't mix well with the other simple ingredients; avacado, pico de gallo and jack cheese. Interior: This place is very neat and well decorated for such a small place. It's very homey and when you walk in, you're greeted with a very nice cashier and full of smiles. I went prior to the pandemic. Pflugerville Taco House is small and unassuming. I actually missed them the first time driving around looking for it. Once inside, it's a pretty small yet cute shop. There's tons of framed inspirational quotes all over the place. We ordered the Carne de Res, Mole, and Barbacoa and waited as they made everything fresh. We came in at the right time because it got super busy and line was out the door. The rush just made us more excited to taste the food. Despite one person working the register and bringing the food, she was extremely sweet and friendly. That truly does make all the difference in the world! As for the food, the Carne de Res was tasty. I was expecting the Mole to be more pasty rather than runny based on having it earlier elsewhere. No idea which is more authentic but I liked it more at the other establishment. The barbacoa meat was tasty but the taco itself was pretty basic. In all 3 tacos, I felt the tacos could have benefited from some complexity such as seasoning of the onions, adding tomatoes or garnishing with cilantro etc. The green sauce does help in elevating the tacos further though. I was still hungry so I tried a catcus, egg and cheese breakfast taco and this was delicious. Overall, they were good tacos, decent sizes with low prices.
