However, I am deducting 3 stars...I have never had such an overcooked chunk of ahi tuna in my life. It was in recognizable. First of all, I love Torchy's. I've been to 5-6 different Austin locations and each is a little different except for the service. Usually, the wait staff is so welcoming and warm. I know the Round Rock location was slammed tonight but I had to wait about 45 minutes to get a to go order of chips and queso!! I ordered a taco to eat there and chips/queso to go. When my taco came out, no to go order. I asked about it, was told it would come right out but he took my number card. I ate, and waited, waited and waited. Never saw the guy again. I asked another server and was given the impression that since I didn't have a ticket or a number, they would have to look it up. Waited and waited and waited. I asked again. I've never eaten at this place, but I was told they're great. There's hardly any parking up front & the rest of the parking spots are marked with tow warnings for the Great Cuts next door, a real dick move considering Torchy's can hold more than twice as many customers. I ordered The Trailerpark (a fried chicken taco), & The Democrat (a beef barbacoa taco). The latter was pretty good, they were generous with the avocado but it seemed to be missing the onions. The former was fantastic, but they didn't put any pico on it as I had requested. So, in summary, these tacos were wonderful, but $4 each & pretty small. The diablo & pablano ranch sauces were AMAZING, seriously, I've never had better taco sauce. It's like a taste of Austin in Round Rock, complete with the limited parking space. My tacos were missing toppings that I had ordered. I'll eat there again, but I'm unwrapping and checking my food before I leave next time. Love this location! The staff is always so nice and helpful when I order things to go. At work we order 4-6 different tacos at one time and by the time we get there, they're all ready! Have eaten here many times and generally very pleased. They have a nice variety of taco options, and the queso is the best I've had in Austin. Wait can be long depending on when you arrive, but generally food is very good. Outdoor seating area can be a drag with a lot of flies, but that's a minor concern. read more

Yummo! I have only tried this place twice (in 1 month) but the tacos I ordered (Trailer Park -a chicken strip taco & Crossroads- beef brisket taco) were AMAZING! And we've also ordered the Queso which is awesome too! Next time I plan to mix it up and try anything else on their menu b/c they all sound delicious! The tacos are packed up with stuff and over-flowing. WHen we ate in-restaurant the inside was full so we ended up taking a seat outside on their covered patio area- but as soon as a table came open inside, it was no problem to move our stuff inside. Today I ordered to-go ONline order and they have a seperate check-out cashier just for to-go orders so it made it simple to come in and pay and go. The parking is always full in front of the establishment so you'll have to park in the back most of the time- which they have a field/lot for parking. Definitely give this place a shot- you won't be dissapointed! read more

Love Torchys. Great food, their tacos are the best around. I enjoy the Democrat, Stuffed Avocado, or Green Chili Pork. Save room for the queso - they add avocado, spicy sauce and it's great. They have a bar and beer at this location too. read more

My family very much enjoyed our meal, though we found it inconsistent. Hands down, this was the best queso I've ever eaten in my life. OHMYGOSH. SOOOO good. My Mr. Orange was delicious. My Mr. Pink, however, was so so so overcooked. Dead, beyond well done, just ick. It was an absolute travesty to have ahi that was so overcooked. Dried out, grossness. My daughter had two chicken tacos with beans and she enjoyed them. My husband had a "trashy" Trailer Park, a Crossroads, and a Brushfire. He thought the Trailer Park and the Crossroads were ok, but he was blown away by the awesomeness of the Brushfire. All in all, I'd say the few items we got that were amazing were so good that we will definitely be cautious return customers. read more

This has become my go to spot for lunch. The tacos and combinations of foods they put together are fresh, unique, and so delicious. I can never decide which one to get. My son loves them too so the whole family is happy. The fried avocado, chicken fajita, and trailer park (extra trashy of course) are high on our list. And the loaded queso is a must. I could eat it every day! I never quite got the hang of the "secret" menu, but who needs it with all the excellent choices on the regular one plus the taco's of the month that are always really interesting. read more

I live in round rock, less than 5 miles from this location so i was ecstatic when it opened but that was short lived. I've only ever ordered food to-go from here and somehow the women behind the bar manage to make that a frustrating experience. They're never accurate about how long your food will take. I've waited 30 mintues for an order I was told would take 5-10 minutes to complete. Later on i made another order and was pleased to hear they seemed to be aware of the longer wait times. I was told to come in 20-30 minutes. I arrived in 20 minutes to find my food was already ready but when I got home (5 minutes later) it was cold. Not just cooled off but like, cold... ?? On top of that mess the bartenders are typically too busy conversing with other customers to attend to me promptly. I usually have to lean way into the bar or ever walk around to where she's having her conversation in order to get her attention. Its a huge disappointment cause I LOVE Torchy's but i've taken this location off my list of places to eat cause the frustration just isnt worth it, especially if i can't depend on my $5 taco being fresh. read more

This used to be our go-to Torchy's. As in once a week we would eat here. Then one day, we called and the line was busy. It took 15 minutes to finally get thru. They were out of flour tortillas. No biggie, throw it on corn! The next several times we tried to call in an order the line was busy. Finally get through and I figure out why the line is busy. They are just setting the phone down on the counter. I can hear them talking and cussing about dealing with people. Another time, we went in after trying for 30 minutes to call in an order and the girl behind the counter informed us that they were out of chips, queso, salsa and guac. And when I informed her that apparently their phone was broken as well all I got was a huge serving of attitude. No apology just a, "well, we've been really busy." Tried to go again and they were out of brisket. Tried after not eating there for well over a month to call on an order and yet again, a busy signal. I can't order online because we order off of the secret menu. Since we couldn't get them on the phone just now, my husband went up there. The phone was again, just off the hook. He ordered, paid and they told him it would be 30 minutes for 3 tacos and chips and queso! He asked why and the girl said they had a rush. Then he asked about the phone being off the hook and her response was, "people keep calling." Whomever is over this location needs to do an overhaul. This is ridiculous. This is my 3rd Torchy's experience. The queso is uh-MAZE-ing! Even our boys (4 & 6) love it, though slightly on the spicy side. First time trying a (house) margarita on the rocks - definitely won't be the last. Tacos are good size, 1 pretty much does the job - it's the decision of which one that is tough. I ordered the beef fajita taco and queso and chips. First the good: The queso and chips are good. The beef was somewhat tender and somewhat tasty. Their prices are also quite reasonable. Now the bad: The entire taco was cold. The flour tortilla, the cheese, the veggies, the sauce, and the meat. I don't know what I was expecting, but ice cold wasn't it. The taco was incredibly dry as well. I could barely choke it down. I guess that's why they sell beer and margaritas, to wash down the dry tacos. Would it kill them to put a bit more than a drizzle of sauce down the bottom center? The meat was kind of gristly, but not overly so. It definitely had not been marinaded for long enough. I gave up trying to eat the taco as served and got a fork and ate the meat out of it and threw away the rest, chalking it up to a learning experience. The service was on the slow side. They also combined several orders into one basket expecting two people to eat from the same basket. We sent them back to be separated. Each person in the group voiced their order separately, but apparently, they have no method to distinguish individual orders when paid for together. I am at a loss to understand what is so great about this place. All in all, I'll save my money and go next door to Taco Bell where they at least serve their food hot (or at a minimum with melted cheese on a warm tortilla). read more

I have been here multiple times and unless u order at the front counter you are screwed. is it as if one of the requirements for the bar employees is the art if ignoring your patrons and indifference to serving them. The food is great when it comes out hot. Thought it was off that mid week they were out of burrito tortillas. She asking for the grande burrito in a bowl with some small tortillas on the side they got very irritated. I was then charged for tortillas. When asking why?, she stated "that I'm lucky to even order it because they are a taco place". WTF... I'm a customer. I also took offence that in the middle of placing my order the cashier answered the phone and I had to wait for the take out order to be placed. When going to get my drink they were out of ice. Really good tacos. Very innovative and different flavors. Guacamole and queso are both great. Maine root sodas are an added bonus. Great kids options if they don't want anything off the regular menu. Ordered three tacos to go at 8:30 on a Saturday, and less than 1/3 of the place was occupied. It took about 13 minutes to get the tacos. We weren't in a hurry, just surprised it took so long. I recommend Taco Shack for quicker service and better tacos. read more

The food is definitely what brings you here and it is just as good as you would expect. My experience, two days in a row, was absolutely deplorable service. Saturday I stood in line, ordered tacos to go at around 9AM, waiting 15-20 minutes only to be asked what I was waiting for. Order was lost. They had to start over. I wrote it off as a one time event and figured better luck next time. Sunday I called in the order and they said 25-30 minutes. I waiting, filled up with gas, got there exactly 35 minutes post-order. No one had a clue. They found the order 15 minutes later after answering multiple phone calls while I stood there waiting. No one could have cared less. Claimed to be the best taco place in Austin, so we went in with high expectations. Went to the original location, a food truck. Tacos are really good, but didn't blow me out of the water. More traditional tacos with unique toppings are common at Torchys. Good place to try if you're new in town. read more

Solid Tacos, staff can be hit or miss (high turnover), but they've definitely improved over the last year or so.
