A personal favorite, taco palenque. I visit any time I'm near one of the locations. Drive-thru is always fast and friendly. My favorite plate the chipotle chicken plate is around $13 but totally worth it! Ok, I don't know if I've shared about this little jewel we have in Texas, but here you are. "Taco Palenque" is a small Mexican food chain that I find really does it right. They have an amazing variety menu to even include breakfast. I'm not talking breakfast tacos and burritos. I'm talking hotcakes. Yes. Today, Thursday they offered a "Fish Taco" special that would put "Cabo Bobs" to shame. Two hunks of battered fish, shredded cabbage and a special sauce, with a medium size drink of your choice all for $9.99. The hunks of fish provide a mouthful of flavor. You also gain access to the self service salsa bar. This alone is a special treat. Shredded, lettuce, cabbage, pickled onions, radish, limes and a variety of salsa flavors. I'm still trying to figure their daily specials. Once they offered BOGO on their burritos. I was in heaven. You can order at the electronic menu or walk up and a live associate will happily take your order. The service here is amazing. They bring the food to your table. Someone is always cleaning tables so you can enjoy a clean table as you dine in. They're more than willing to answer any questions about...anything. This was a drive-through order. I will go inside next time. But I want to express how helpful the gentleman at the speaker's was in taking my order. So this was my first time, and I was looking for something small but good. He started asking what I had a taste for--did I want something cheesy, nachos, or quacamole? I told him yes to all three, and he suggested adding beef to the nachos. It was the perfect dish. Now, yes, of course, I have had nachos before, but this one packed a punch. This nacho dish had plenty of cheese, the nachos were very crispy, the guacamole was fresh, and the beef was tender and well-seasoned. But the one thing that really stood out was how they inserted the order inside a plastic bag to keep the meal hot. It was still hot when I came home. I even took care of some household chores before sitting down to enjoy my cheesy beef-and-guacamole nachos. I have been here a couple of times (always through the drive-thru) and have been please with the food. Today I ordered the kids meal bean and cheese taco with fideo . The meal was packaged well with plenty of napkins and a spoon for the fideo. I chose horchata for the drink which was very, very good. The taco had two flour tortillas (there was enough filling to split it into two tacos). The flavor was delicious. I, also, really liked the fideo that came with two additional four tortillas. I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place before... OMG, get the panchos. They are huge and full of greatness. My wife usually gets the massive quesadilla they have. Portion size for 2 when you dine in. If you get to go, it seems like the portion is a bit smaller. They deliver to your table instead of you having to walk back to the counter. They also have a salsa bar. So you can get up and grab your own condiments. I'd say this place is great. It's fairly inexpensive as well. Place is clean kept up... has some t.vs to watch while you wait or eat. I come at least once a month to devour some panchos. read more

We got our food quick early on a Sunday. A salsa bar with chips and all the fixings was fully stocked with lots of options. Coke products are served here also. I placed an app order at 1:15 PM for a scheduled 4:30 PM pickup and arrived early at 4:10. I was told the order had not been received and to return at 4:15. When I returned at 4:25, the order still had not been started, and I was asked to park and wait. I waited more than 20 minutes past my scheduled pickup time--longer than if I had simply ordered through the drive-through. This completely defeats the purpose of using an app designed for efficiency and planning ahead. Customer service was also poor. Staff knew I was returning but made no effort to begin the order as advised. After speaking with a manager, I was kept waiting nearly 10 additional minutes. I was told they were busy with DoorDash and Uber Eats orders, which does not justify making a scheduled pickup customer wait in a parking lot well past the promised time. The manager stated they would "talk to the people inside," which did nothing to resolve the issue or acknowledge the inconvenience. Overall, the experience was frustrating, disorganized, and unacceptable. read more

Obviously a training, managerial and quality control issue. For $41 for 12 tacos you're hoping they get it right. Since this is an outlot of a Walmart the access is always challenging. Not worth a 30 minute drive. Do yourself a favor and check your containers before you leave for accurate number of items. At least we got all items we ordered today. Too bad 50% were poorly prepared. I heard about this place via Lunch Drop (delivery service for work offices). I was hesitant because I'm picky about my Mexican food but after looking at photos of different menu items I was sold. I got a chicken breast fajita burrito. It was pretty good for the price (I paid $13.76 with tip included and I got additional items like sour cream and cheese). My first thought was "this tortilla is good". Almost like they make them fresh in house. Then I realized even after delivery my food was still hot...that's a PLUS! If I have one hiccup it would be spice. I would have liked some sort of salsa and a little salt to taste. Overall it was well worth the price and I will order again. read more

More like 3.5 if I'm feeling generous. Went through the drive thru where we were the only ones and ordered 4 breakfast tacos (2 bacon and eggs, 1 chorizo and bean, and 1 chicharron). Food wise it's not bad. I don't have any issues with the food and really like the flour tortillas that came with all the tacos. The salsa roja was good too, but they are pretty stingy with it. It was more vinegary but had a good kick. But by stingy, I mean I got two containers which were filled halfway. I literally poured one container into the other and it filled it up. It was not enough salsa for 4 tacos! BUT despite being the only ones in the drive thru initially and having a relatively simple order, they somehow messed up my order. My chorizo and bean tacos only had beans. No chorizo! And considering the wait to get the tacos (5-6 cars ended up lining up while we were waiting to get our card back), I don't know if I can forgive that since I got charged the more expensive taco and got a measly bean taco. Also, sadly the bacon and eggs were mostly eggs and barely any bacon. You can def get better elsewhere, but it'll do in a pinch. But I'd probably pass on this place in the future. read more

The food definitely gets a B+. It's better than Taco Cabana, but not by much. The staff enthusiasm is clearly and F-, worse than Popeyes. Just like the Cedar Park location, this restaurant screwed up my order, after I clearly repeated myself several times. I probably could've ordered in Spanish, but that would've been offensive and condescending. Fortunately, the manager was able to fix my order. Nevertheless, the staff was still bummed out about their menial lives. Sometimes I wonder if I'm being blackballed by the entire Taco Palenque company, because I'm goofy gringo. I first discovered Taco Palenque in Laredo TX 25 yrs ago. Loved it then love it now! Imagine my surprise when I drove by and saw they were located in Round Rock. I came to this location on Wednesday. I was extremely pumped to see this establishment as I used to eat at the location in S.A. when I lived there all the time! About: For those folks who don't know, Don Pancho founded this establishment in 1987 in Laredo and has been adding more locations ever since. Don Pancho is also the founder of El Pollo Loco (another chain I enjoy stopping in at). What we ordered: Mixed Parrilladas for three with fajita and chicken meat: Both of the meats for this order were tender and packed with flavor. From first bite, your palate can taste the smokiness and spice throughout the meat. The parrilladas were accompanied by rice, re-fried beans, flour tortillas, fresh salsas and guacamole. *This menu item usually comes with tortilla chips, but when we pulled away from the drive-through with our bag, we noticed they were not in the bag. Panchos: Thing One ate this by himself! However, Thing Two and I tried this item before Thing One was able to devour it and found the combination of the flavored meat, cheddar cheese, guacamole and other accoutrements were nicely balanced. The Wait: This location is newly opened and at this time, it is drive-through only. We waited in our car in line for about 45 minutes with only a few cars ahead of us. Whew! 10/10 definitely recommend. This was actually my second time trying Taco Palenque since I live in the La Frontera area & omg...the line speaks for itself. I couldn't leave a review last time since I forgot. The only thing to keep in mind is the long wait time. We got in the drive thru line at 7:19PM and didn't leave the drive thru with our food until until 8:27PM (so that's 1 hour and 8 minutes). The line is usually long (as shown in the photos) but for good reason. Moral of this, don't come if you're in a rush - at least not in the evening time. I added photos of the menu, the Fajita Combo and the Crispy Taco plate. It's amazingly all good & I can't complain. I'm a taco person and I've never tasted crunch tacos like Taco Palenque. The first time I came, I had the Al Pastor plate and from what I remember, they package it in a way that you make your own taco. For example, they package the tortillas and toppings separately. I have been here twice now and whenever I am craving a massive pile of nachos I will be back every time! They have the sturdy tortilla chips that don't get all soggy under the plentiful amounts of beef, beans, cheese and the big ass scoop of guacamole the put on top. Beef panchos are incredible. They also include salsas, pico de gallo, and jalapenos on the side which is great. I've also tried a few tacos and while they are very good, I feel they are somewhat overpriced for individual tacos. I believe one al pastor taco, while very delicious and filling, was over $4 for one taco. Yes, prices are going up everywhere but I still feel this is a little too much. It didn't seem unusual, yet became quite annoying when he seemed to 360 video of others dining there and not once were anyone asked their permission for their family members/friends/etc to be filmed/photographed. Anyone wanting to photograph/film/video anyone in public has always been courteous to ask permission of the public. Especially with all voyeurism and misinformation social media; it is never welcoming surrender "innocence" to any stranger. They gave me one which probably better off because it tasted disgusting like reheated old chicken no grill marks at all for the chicken and the tostada shells were stale. My taco barely had any meat--just three pieces of fajita--and when I asked about it, the staff said they're only supposed to come with 1 oz, which clearly wasn't true.
